OPEN/REINCARNATION | TORRENTIAL TIMES - rochelle - 07-26-2018

[align=center][div style="borderwidth=0px; text-align: justify; width: 520px; padding-bottom: 17px; overflow: stretch; font-family: verdana;"]A faint rain veiled the jungle that night, steady and gentle as the female, prowling about the undergrowth. To the water she went, to the thick river that came bubbling along, risen to cover the roots of the jungle trees that were usually left exposed. High water, but not forceful, not hard against the body, she thought, wading into it halfway. She knew when the gods were angry or upset, they would send a downpour, to flood the whole thing up, to sweep life away, to wash away the sins with violence, until they were satisfied with what was left. But, peering up, she knew the gods were not mad today.

However, she knew the gods wanted something.

It was simple and plain, but still, it was a cruel fate. A sacrifice, but a sacrifice of trust. That's what the goddess Nereides fed into her ear while she'd been sleeping. She, in her angel voice, beckoned her in her dreams to go to the water, to allow herself to be taken by it, to let her sins be washed away. So it was more of a baptism than a sacrifice, but she knew the gods were curious, that they wondered about the taste of her blood. Was Fischer truly as pure as she appeared to the gods, or was her devil of a father too dirty of a blemish to be removed? It was almost like a game, but Fischer knew she must oblige.

For a moment, there was peace, standing in the water, it almost reaching her underbelly. Peace, and then there was chaos. A steady downpour, the rain was suddenly hysterically. It was so heavy, she thought, that the force of the rain alone would plunge her down into the water. But instead, it was the rushing of the river, suddenly bursting at it's seams, all of it's stuffing, the water, swallowing Fischer up, taking her into a state of black. The darkness was so deep, purples and blues and murky amber flooding her vision. Her body was being pelted by the flooding river, thrown against rocks and tree roots. But she was calm, she was steady, letting everything ebb away.

When the ritual was over, the darkness never rose, it stayed upon her. Though in spirit she felt light, healthy, her vision was ripped from her, and a hollow plane of vision was all that was left. Her body, too, had been swept away in the flood, her soul twisted out of it and into another beside it. That's where Fischer laid now, eyes wide open but only able to sense the glare of the light. Her back was up against the back of her old body, of the graying wolf, replaced with the figure of a cat, a Maine Coon, with a plumage of smokey and smolder tones that silhouetted her frame cloudy.

Fischer had died and come back ... she knew the gods were satisfied with that. And they'd taken away her sight, probably deemed her not worthy of the sense. It was cruel, like she said, but she was okay, she'd learn to cope. So, she steadily got up, pressing against her old body and pursing her lips, pushing her forehead into her former pelt. She just had to be thankful the gods saw her worthy of life, and for that, she was happy for. The downpour of the night before had settled to a melancholy drizzle, and she felt the wet sand between her claws. It felt different now, like she could feel the grit of the earth better.

tldr | if this is confusing sorry ahbdjha,,, fischer/rochelle died and was reincarnated into the body of a cat, she's blind now but, she's just chillin next to her old body on the beach rip,, she might seem sus since no one recognizes her oops

religion was an interesting thing to the girl. she claimed to believe in what her papa did, though she did not necessarily try to enforce it over her lifestyle or even pray. she felt that everything was happening for one reason or another, though. she did believe that - even if she did not always understand that reason. she felt believing on her own time should be enough. she was already working hard for everyone on the ground, so surely any god or higher being would understand that.

the girl avoided being out in the rain due to her electric elementals. if the environment around her got too wet, they would start to spread in it similar to lightning striking water. she didn't quite know how to control them and she felt it was safer and easier if she just stayed out of it for now. she hoped she could figure out a solution soon enough, though, because it made things much harder. she couldn't even go swimming or even very close to the shore anymore because of it.

she stayed inside of the submarine with flynn until the rain did clear, playing with her new companion and trying to teach him new tricks. he knew his name by now, so now she wanted to see if she could teach him to fetch something for her. it was a process, but they were getting there. both her and the eagle were getting tired of this now, and since the rain had mostly cleared, she figured it'd be nice to go on her walk with him now. she sniffled, coughing a couple of times before heading out.

the beach was her favorite part of the island and it was easier to move around on the sand while her mobility was limited, so it wouldn't take her long to stumble across a couple of figures. her fur was still staticy due to the drizzle and her injuries would glow faintly beneath her bandages. she eyed the two, moving towards them to see who they were. she would quickly recognize fischer, but the other was a stranger - perhaps a new crewmate?

her steps were quiet as she grew close, eyeing fischer's body first. the female seemed to be...unconscious? she frowned, the young girl's features becoming worried. she gulped, trying to take in the whole situation. but, it was clear. she remembered the sight of the dead well. her papa's dead body would never leave her memory. the cold feeling, the stillness. she felt like she was going to throw up.

the sick girl's striking green eyes shot towards the stranger, now becoming suspicious. "who are you?" she demanded quickly, though her strained voice shook. she took a couple steps back, feeling a sort of panic start to trickle in. she remembered death too well. she didn't want to remember. she felt like crying. her breaths became quicker. "wh-wha-what happened to fi-fischer? did you d-do this?" the static around her pelt began to grow slightly with a sudden adrenaline entering her, making small sparks shoot out from her paws.

[align=center][div style="borderwidth=0px; text-align: justify; width: 520px; padding-bottom: 17px; overflow: stretch; font-family: verdana;"]The gentle placement of steps in the sand behind her is what stirred her up. She would be naive to think that this didn’t look suspicious, someone, seemingly unrecognizable, resting against the dead body of the Striker. It wouldn’t be apparent to anyone who this black smoke was, so she’d somewhat prepared herself to be faced with some question by whoever found her.

Fischer didn’t expect it to be Goldie though. The lithe form would stagger to face in the direction of the sick girl. "Goldie? Is that ... is that you?" Her voice was gentle, still the same as it had been before. Fischer tilted her face upward, trying to pinpoint the scent of whoever had found her. It was clear, by voice, that it was in fact, her, but the sound of static alarmed her. Besides that, what Goldie said raised some concern. "It’s me, it’s Fischer ... please calm down, breathe ..." The heavy, sharp intakes of air she could hear from Goldenluxury began to worry her, unsure if it was a sign of anxiety or fury. She couldn’t tell what would be worse, for she wished not to upset the girl in any way.

How could she explain this in order to calm her down? "Last night ... the rain was very powerful, the river carried me away, into this body." Fischer said gently, not wanting to really admit that she’d died for a moment and been brought back, reincarnated into this younger form, this form without sight. But she seemed to cower more now, growing concerned with the sound of electricity in the direction of Goldie. And it was so strange, frightening almost, to have no sight but to sense the jolts of small light that came from the other’s paws. "Goldie, I can’t see you ... please ..." She was offering softly, pleading to calm the other down, to believe her that everything was okay. It was then that she finally actually turned her face in the direction of Goldie’s properly, the misty blue-gray eyes blinking rapidly for a moment, then resting still to stare out blankly, lips pursed almost into a frown.

Re: OPEN/REINCARNATION | TORRENTIAL TIMES - VANDAL R. - 07-27-2018

Vandal doesn't believe in gods anymore, refuses to trust them and their 'higher power' and their 'all-seeing-eye' and whatever else bullshit they like to parade around like it's worth a damn. After the last time, after Ran, after Aegroixe - after the bitter tragedy that ended the life of the woman she loved, Vandal decided that gods were not worth her time if all that they wanted was power and complete, utter control. They do not see the value of life as mortals do, do not understand tragedies and emotions and love and pain as mortals do - all they know is power, pride, and a strong, nauseating sense of jealousy.

Vandal likes to blame everything wrong in the world on them. They say everything happens for a reason, after all. If everything happens for a reason, everything can be blamed on them... including Fischer's death.

When she heard Goldie's accusations, bitter and hurt and agonized, Vandal's brain was already pointing fingers at whichever god could've taken someone like her away. She ran towards the gathered group having half the mind to disbelieve until she saw the familiar body of the umber wolf sprawled out and lifeless on the sand, ragdolled as it traced the gentle slope of the shore. Rage, grief, mourning twinged in the maned wolf's chest, sparking embers in her veins as she turned her glare on the cat - the cat...

It's me, it's Fischer...

Vandal sat back, brushing angry tears she hadn't even noticed she'd been producing away from her cheeks as she listened to the voice, the voice Fischer had, coming from this unseeing cat. Goldie was sparking up - fretting, she figured - and Vandal was quick to move forward, hoping her presence would be enough to steel the younger Roux. Sweeping her neon gaze back to the cat - Fischer, Fischer the cat - Vandal gave her one more once over, biting back a half-relieved and half-bitter sob, before speaking in a trembling voice. "You - Fischer. Fischer."

The name danced on her tongue and she traced it with her thoughts, not knowing if she should believe... if she should bother... if she should... "Fuck. Gods. Fischer, are you - how are you feeling?" The hardness in her voice finally gave way to worry gurgling just underneath the surface of a voice she barely held together by the seams. "Water - food?" Vandal didn't know how to take it - her heart was still hammering in her chest, gaze moving from the she-cat standing before her to the lifeless wolf next to her.

seeing the female move at her questions, the girl tensed and grew defensive. she immediately felt a distrust towards this stranger, and was ready to protect herself at any movement. a mixture of rage and panic seeped within her and she felt...scared. scared and confused. but then, the female spoke. the stranger knows her name. her voice is...familiar?

she stared in confusion, backing up again. her breaths became sharper. she did not quite know for a fact if fischer's body was dead, but it sure as hell reminded her of death. she absolutely did not want to be reminded of death. either way, fischer was unwell - that much was easy to tell. she needed to check and protect her at all costs. she needed to - the feline spoke again.

goldie's breaths slowed slightly. this is fischer? she has a new body? her head felt light-headed as the adrenaline seeped from her and the female explained what had happened. her stance became wobbly as vandal stood near her and she stumbled for a moment, calming herself down. she felt dizzy, and that much was clear by her stance. she looked to the female's eyes, realizing that she was indeed blind. the girl's sparks lessened and she tried to reach out for fischer, hoping to help her with her sudden vision loss.

"o-okay. i believe you." she said quietly at first, her voice slightly distant as she grounded herself back into her usual more level-headed thinking. perhaps the thought of death got to her too much. she needed to focus back on the important things here. "are you okay? can i help you, at all?"
