Pele had thought long and hard before even responding to Rin's call earlier in the week. She'd known that tryouts would be coming soon, and it had sparked a bit of a long thought process. The demoness hadn't usually been one for physical fighting, she'd never took to the training her family gave her.

Reading had been her only solace for the longest time, though she'd reminded herself time and time again that it was nothing more than a hobby. Being a scholar in the worlds of words wasn't something that would help support the clan, and although she wished to later build a community library, it just wasn't realistic to think that it'd be her only responsibility.

The freelancers coming to the Ascendants helped with the decision, noting themselves that to be a member meant contributing to the success of the group. The decision to try her luck and skill at being a cleric apprentice. It was a rather big step, and there was no guarantee she would get the position.

That's why she was sitting here with a bag at her side, waiting for Hazel. The task given was to collect herbs, the cleric had said working together was encouraged, and though Hazel wasn't a contender herself, Pele had figured going by herself just wasn't safe. Not with her lack of defense training. Really it was Hazel who'd offered, but she really wasn't in a position to refuse.
