She knew grime, clumps of dirt between each claw on her worn paws. She knew inertia, felt it settle and turn her bones to dust between Sleep's heavy jaws as she walked on and on, the heat setting her spine aflame with a harsh indifference. She even knew of the helpless feeling that came with being alone in the world after the passing of someone she thought she could come to love. Stellamaris knew all of these things, and more, but it still did not cease the separation between her and the people around her, and how different they all were from each other. The desire to stand out called to her from afar, but the childish girl within pitifully cried otherwise. She wanted to be normal; wanted the lives they had, and little more, if she had a say in it. But she hadn't gotten a say from the day she'd opened her eyes to this unforgiving world, and that was why when she had the chance to run, she took it in stride.
