we’ll carry on — open, joining - Verdigris - 07-04-2018 Two months and three weeks had passed. In that time, Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye had traveled. Her destination did not matter so much as who she encountered, and what they knew. She had met quite a few people- several of whom called themselves “alchemists,” even- and yet none of them had known a way to escape this world and return to Amestris. The alchemists, in fact, had all deemed it impossible. Perhaps she should have considered herself lucky that she never had any need for a gun, but the fact that she- along with Colonel Roy Mustang- would be stuck here for the foreseeable future overshadowed that small blessing. Amestris’ fate was bleak, with the homunculi now free to run rampant with few knowing of their existence, let alone the fact that they were (presumably) plotting against the Amestrian people. At best, the Fullmetal Alchemist had survived the transmutation incident and would manage to succeed. At worst, the country was doomed. At the very least, though, she had adjusted to the form of a lioness quickly enough to survive, so Colonel Mustang likely would have adjusted to his own body as well. So long as Mustang was alive, everything else would follow that. Maybe he had discovered something that she had missed. Returning to the border of the Ascendants, where she had seen the Colonel last, Riza stood there, waiting. Someone would inevitably come by, at which point she would state her request. Until then, she doubted her voice would carry across the territory. Re: we’ll carry on — open, joining - GORDON CIPHER. - 07-05-2018 It wasn't uncommon for strangers to call out their presence, although Gordon much preferred people to wait like Riza was currently. It was just so much easier on her nerves to find somebody peacefully sitting at the border rather than being spooked by somebody calling out randomly. And just as Riza predicted, somebody would be here soon - and that person was Gordon. "Ah, hello!" The little she-cat squeaked as she came waddling over to the border. "Wh-what's your name and business with The Ascendants?" That's what she was supposed to ask, right?

Re: we’ll carry on — open, joining - Roy Mustang - 07-05-2018
Has it really been almost three months already? It was weird to think that not that long ago he and Hawkeye were living human lives, before that transmutation incident. While Hawkeye was off traveling, in hopes to discover some kind of way to get back to Amestris, Roy discovered the horrible truth- they're considerably 'dead' back in Amestris. Those alchemists Hawkeye came across were correct one hundred percent, it's particularly impossible to go back home. Hughes thought it was possible to send Roy back through human transmutation, it ended up leading Hughes to his second death(despite how badly Roy tried to prevent it). It's not possible through the taboo, or any other way that would run through the Flame Alchemist's skull. He and Hawkeye(if she was still alive, he hasn't seen her in months) were to live the rest of their lives as animals until their final breaths. Roy wasn't exactly expecting to see Riza awaiting at the border. Roy wasn't sure where she wandered off to months ago, she didn't exactly give him a reason why. In the time she was gone, some things happened- Hughes was alive, Roy somehow changed species, and Hughes passed again through the worst thing possible. In the back of his mind, Roy hoped that the lioness was okay, and that someday he would see her again. He didn't want to find out some horrible news that the lioness was dead- though he highly doubted that. He was sure Hawkeye was managing- she can handle herself and situations well. Roy was padding through the territory, down a path, when the familiar scent hit his nostrils. He came to a pause, completely stopping in his tracks as he took in the scent. Riza. The male thought to himself, almost instantly putting a name to the scent- he knew he smelled this scent before! He might have only seen her once in this world, but he cared about her. He remembered what she looked like- she was a maned lioness with dark brown eyes and silver studs in her ears. He wasn't about to forget her that easily. Almost instantly, Roy began to pad in the direction of her scent that lingered through the territory, eventually being lead to the border. The male came padding in after Gordon, who already approached Lieutenant Hawkeye. He glanced at the Starstruck Guardian for a moment, noticing how she was approaching Hawkeye, requesting her name and business like anyone else would. Roy already knew who this was, the male practically disregarded the questions as his gaze locked on the female before them. "Where the hell have you been, Lieutenant?" Roy Mustang spoke up with a serious tone, taking a step forward. Riza probably didn't recognize him when he first padded in(as the last time they spoke to each other, Roy was a tiger and now he's a bobcat), but without a doubt, she'll be able to recognize his familiar voice. It was kind of hard to miss, in all honesty. Re: we’ll carry on — open, joining - Lokisaurus - 07-05-2018 Re: we’ll carry on — open, joining - Verdigris - 07-05-2018 The first to approach was someone she didn’t recognize from last time she was here, but then that was understandable- these factions tended to grow quickly. Glancing down at the smaller feline, and taking note of her mannerisms, Riza could deduce that she was roughly a year old- still young, but not quite a child anymore. Nodding in acknowledgement, she answered, ”Riza Hawkeye. I need to speak to Colonel Mustang.” Truthfully, their rankings no longer mattered here, but it was force of habit to address the Colonel by his title. Sure enough, the next to arrive immediately demanded to know where she had been, and addressed her as Lieutenant- a dead ringer for Roy. Turning to face him, Riza stood at attention. ”Sir. I’ve been asking around about a way to return to Amestris.” Examining him, noting that he was now slightly shorter than she was, she continued, ”Unfortunately, I was unable to find anything...” Her voice trailed off as she noticed the bandaged stump where his back leg should have been. ”Colonel,” she began, maintaining a straight face despite the feeling that she wasn’t going to like his answer, ”what happened to your leg?” She knew that a marauding rogue or vindictive enemy might try to rip off limbs, or that he might have caught some sort of untreatable infection that caused gangrene in the area- but she also knew that he could have lost it by acting rashly, and regardless of his explanation, being stuck with only three legs would put him at a massive disadvantage. The tiny voice echoing from the Colonel’s other side drew her attention to the kitten. The child had called him “daddy,” something she raised her brows at, and expected to hear another long-winded and defensive explanation for. He didn’t need to defend himself- she already had a feeling the situation wasn’t quite what it looked like- but she would let him if he decided to. Offering the kitten a small smile, she answered, ”I’m Riza. And you are?” Re: we’ll carry on — open, joining - Lokisaurus - 07-05-2018 Re: we’ll carry on — open, joining - Roy Mustang - 07-05-2018
It really was a force of habit to address Hawkeye by her title. It was true that he's no longer a Colonel and her a Lieutenant. But he's addressed her as such for so long, and her in return. It would take a long time for him to break the habit, and he was sure it would be the same way for the Lieutenant. Roy's gaze was locked on her as her posture straightened, ears pricking as she began to speak. She was beginning to explain why she was gone for so long, she was looking for a way to return home. Roy would have done the same thing if he didn't know the truth. He wasn't sure if Hawkeye knew entirely, and before he could find out, her voice trailed off when she looked at his leg. "Colonel, what happened to your leg?" He heard her serious question, while she kept that straight expression etched on her face. Oh truth, she's not going to like this one bit, that's for sure. The last thing she probably wanted to hear was that Roy gnawed it off himself during a rock slide accident. A small frown made its way onto his maw, knowing that he can't keep the reason away from her. She's going to be pissed, there's no doubt in that, but she has a right to know. "There was a rock slide accident nearby a few weeks ago and I got caught in it. My leg got shattered completely and I panicked." He began to explain with a sigh, thinking back to the incident and how easily animal instincts swayed him. "I gnawed my own leg off and cauterized it, Lieutenant." While he waited for Hawkeye's reaction, Roy felt Aaliyah's little nose against his leg. He looked down to see Aaliyah, who looked confused, ears pricking when the little one spoke up. "Daddy, who 'dat?" He heard her young voice speak up, and not long after, he heard Riza replying with an informal introduction. Quickly Roy's head snapped back up at the Lieutenant, eyes wide. "Lieutenant, I swear to you it's not what it looks like," He quickly came to a defense, ears pinning back for a moment. He and Aaliyah weren't related by blood, the only resemblance between the two is the species. Aaliyah is not his biological daughter, rather instead adopted. He gave a nod when Aaliyah began to introduce herself, seconding her, "That's Aaliyah." When Aaliyah made a comment regarding Riza's height, he gave a nod. He used to be around the same height last time Roy saw Riza at the border. Now, he's shorter than her. Re: we’ll carry on — open, joining - GORDON CIPHER. - 07-05-2018 Colonel Mustang? Gordon's expression turned to one of confusion as Riza mentioned Roy's military title, though luckily the bobcat made his way over just in time. Oh, she meant Roy. Of course, duh. Gordon looked back at the ground, abandoning her gaze on Riza, feeling a bit embarrassed by not recognizing Roy's name at first. It seemed these two knew each other, so the she-cat wasn't going to intervene at the moment. She took note of Aaliyah's presence of course, though she didn't really look over at the cub due to her being so close to Roy. Gordon didn't hate Roy or dislike him by any means, she was just ashamed at herself for not knowing Roy's military title. Was it common knowledge? She didn't know.

Re: we’ll carry on — open, joining - | AGENT WASHINGTON | - 07-05-2018 When it came into terms of the military, that was something that Washington to get behind. It was a lot easier when he was a Corporal himself during the time he was in UNSC. It meant that everyone would follow his orders without really arguing back. That the Marines he commanded knew that they were there for one reason and one reason only. That no matter what they did they were going to defend the human race until the end of their lives. Not something that was really easy to do against an alien race but they managed to keep themselves alive for a good amount of time. He had led troops for a couple of years before finally being court-martialled and apply to another organization that would be willing to take him and uses him basically as an experiment. He had already signed his life away once so signing his life away another time wasn't going to be all that difficult. At least, that's what he had told himself and now he realized that signing that paper had probably been the worst decision that he could have ever made. But there was no changing the past and there was only changing who he was now. He was responsible for so much death in the organization just like any other Freelancer that was around during that time. They weren't the good guys, and they had been manipulated and used. He didn't blame the UNSC for what had happened in the Project. Sure, the two had been partnered with each other, but that didn't mean that they could force all their efforts to check something like that constantly when there was constantly a war happening beneath their ships. That wasn't possible. But at least now, Washington wasn't the only Freelancer that had suffered the same fate. Part of him said that it was wrong to wish this onto someone knowing that they would be stuck just like he was. But it was someone that he could at least somewhat recognize and hope that she wouldn't try to kill him once he exceeded his usefulness and couldn't provide any help anymore. It was basically standard to leave nothing behind so that other's wouldn't be able to capture the technology that they used. Right now he was the only one with a full set of armor. Well not really full set, he didn't have a set of armor for his back legs. Carolina was certainly going to have a hard time settling into a place that didn't really have all that much other or a concrete schedule. Just like he had done, but she already seemed to be a much more capable fighter in her current body than he was currently at in his large body. What he would have given to get a smaller body instead of a lion-sized body that made it a little bit harder for him to move. Either way, he was stuck and was just going to have to live with it. Washington still didn't know a lot about those that lived in this outpost. If anything, the one that he had connected the best with would have definitely been Imperia, but that was because she had offered him food and seemed to know a bit about metal and was fairly intelligent. Not saying that the rest around him weren't intelligent, but they weren't capable of understanding the lingo that he used when describing things. The armored smilodon had his own daily patrols, which he usually did alone to scope out if there was anyone else around that pertained to his situation. Agent Carolina had managed to appear which just meant that there might be someone else following her back as well. Depending on who it was though would probably make the lives of the civilians here more difficult. Having one Freelancer to deal with was basically enough, two was difficult, three would probably be a nightmare. It would probably make dealing with Church and what he had knowledge harder for him since the other already didn't trust because of who he was. It wasn't hard to hear the wildcat coming through thanks to the metal armor that he wore across his body. It also wasn't incredibly hard to see him among the trees thanks to his dark armor and the lights that were positioned on each side of his arms. The lights were small, but they were still lights. The male blinked his golden eyes as he looked at the group that was in front of him. He was able to catch a little bit of the conversation between them. Washington knew very little about Roy himself other than that he was a former human like he was. But he came from a place like Ametris. It wouldn't have surprised him if that was on some different planet that he didn't know about. Where he came from there was a limitless amount of planets that someone could have come from. So the person in front of him was a lieutenant. Another person that had a higher rank than him, at least in terms of what a Freelancer was capable of doing. He had been a Corporal before becoming a Freelancer, but he had been court-martialled during this time. The armored male came to a stop a bit of a distance from everyone else, ignoring the rest of the personal conversation the two of them were having. "Agent Washington, Lieutenant." He used his usually addressing tone toward the other, obviously meaning respect with what he said. He wasn't just following Roy's lead. He knew what it meant to be in a military, and he would give a curt dip of his head toward the lion. It was almost ironic to see the size difference between the two, while he was basically the size of Riza thanks to whatever extinct species he was again. "speech" [glow=black,2,300]— ✘ —[/glow]
Tags | Updated 06/26/18: Re: we’ll carry on — open, joining - Verdigris - 07-08-2018 As the kitten spoke her name, Riza nodded along. ”Aaliyah Mustang,” she repeated, with a twitch of her studded ears. Aaliyah’s clear satisfaction at getting the name right was too precious for words, but aside from the smile she kept on her face, she didn’t show any further reaction. Roy’s words broke her attention away, though. Glancing directly at him as he explained what happened, she narrowed her eyes- only to widen them as he announced that he bit his own leg off. How... how would someone even do that, let alone why? Her gaze hardening, she opened her mouth to speak, but even as she raised a paw to emphasize her point, she could not find the words. Finally, she settled for pressing said paw against her face. ”I... you idiot,” she muttered, shaking her head. He had said the leg was completely shattered anyway, but what he’d done was practically asking for a serious infection. It was a miracle that he was even still alive. Once his attention turned back to Aaliyah and he started scrambling to explain himself- as she’d predicted he would- Riza couldn’t help but smirk. ”Already settling down, I see,” she commented half-teasingly, raising a brow. Judging from Aaliyah’s apparent age it was likely that she had been conceived before Roy had even arrived, but there was nothing wrong with having a little fun at his expense, at least until he realized the inherent issue with what he thought it looked like. The arrival of someone about her size, wearing what appeared to be a modified suit of armor (at least, it looked vaguely like armor), elicited a curious glance from her. ”Agent Washington. My pleasure,” she responded, with a nod. Where he had come from, what agency he had been a part of... she had several questions, that nonetheless could wait until later. |
