THE LONELY ONE -- ooc prompt + powers - guts - 07-02-2018
His heart was pounding. It knocked against his ribs like a caged bird, his mind ripped from his dreams as he shot up in bed, gulping down heavy breaths of air. His eyes darted about the dark room, searching the dark corners for any eyes watching him. His skin prickled and he felt warm--too warm. Every casual noise of the night turned ominous, suddenly too loud and echoing in his ears, his mind playing tricks with his eyes and causing his surroundings to warp. The remains of his nightmares were always the worst. He'd always have trouble discerning between reality and dreams after awaking. While there were often missing fragments and pieces, he could remember this nightmare all too well. It was practically recalling a memory. Being melted alive in a vat of molten gold was a fitting death for him, but it still hurt like a bitch. He had conditioned himself to that fate, after all, refusing his Father's offer to work with him again. But he could never live like that, not again. It was a painful reminder that he was nothing but a tool, a pawn in someone else's big plan. Why would he serve like that when he could be the mastermind of his own plan? Of course, that had come to a sudden close after his death. But now he was alive again. How, he wasn't sure, but he did know that this was his second chance. The sun began to rise outside, lighting up the night sky, streams of it filtering into his window. It freed him from his paranoid haze, his eyes wandering towards the glass between him and the beach outside. He was here. Sighing with relief, he untangled himself from the covers and walked out, ignoring the absence of his glasses. He just wanted a moment, some time to calm himself and maybe look over everything that had happened thus far. His paws guided him towards the shore, where he took a seat and stared out at the ocean. The waves mingled blue and purple, the colors of the sky reflected on the surface. A salty breeze flowed past. This should have been everything a man could want, a home on a nice beach with people around him. But Greed had a place to fill, a hole that ached ever since a long time ago. He didn't know how to fill it, so he just did what he could, collecting women and money and all sorts of materialistic things. But it never seemed to be enough. He cursed himself for being the embodiment of the sin. Somehow his mind wandered back to his 'siblings,' or his Father's other creations. Like him, they were the faces of sins, or their creator's sins, anyways. His greed, his lust, his envy--that's what they were. They were created to serve him and take over Amestris. But, of course, Greed's plans had reached out towards a different goal. He didn't feel right there, taking orders from someone. He wanted more. So he left. Really, if anything, he betrayed his siblings. Yet he still felt hurt by them somewhat, due to his own foolish expectations. He had expected a family and what he got instead was a democracy, a small organization that worked under the guise of the military. He hated it, especially how he couldn't help but think about their expressions in his last moments. No sadness, but no happiness or relief, either. Just placid. They remained cold as he screamed his insults and laughed, defiant even as he was dying. Even if he somehow returned, he'd never go back to them. He would never be held down like that again. He slowly comes to after a long moment of thinking and mulling over things, quickly noticing an...odd feeling. Glancing down, he's both surprised and pleased to see his body was hardened, glistening under the light of the sun-rise. He lifts a paw, studying himself. Large teeth poke out from his bottom lip, almost like tusks, and his eyes are black save for his usual purple irises. Good, so his hardening abilities still work. //basically he's thinking about his siblings and his death when he realizes his body is covered in metal. replies r fine!! "SPEECH" |
