There were raids on top of raids, and the former knight felt exhausted. Thomas hated himself for feeling that way, for he was a royal knight for God's sake; he was supposed to be used to hard training and harsh battles. He was growing weak. He needed to train, and so he did. For the entire day, he had slaved over his training. Sparing dummies had bored him early on, and after coaxing a few of his fellow members into fighting him, he grew weary of that as well. His skills outmatched their own, and he did not take pride in easy victories.

As the sun climbed higher and higher into the sky, the heat slowly rose. It burned down upon the lionhearted young man, and despite wanting to keep training, he stopped. Overworking himself would benefit no one. Breaks were allowed back home, he told himself as he made his way towards the shoreline. A swim would be good. He sighed, inwardly, however. The last time he had swam or done anything of the sort, he had been with Kaarina... With a bruised heart, he continued onward.

Before Thomas reached the waters and another person, he heard them. Against the gentle lap of waves on sand, he could hear heavy, strained breathing. It sounded as though someone were losing touch with themselves. Worry cast a look over his features, and despite his tired state, he ran forward. Shock mingled with the concern on his face as he found Kai - a mermaid. The boy was half out of the water, and it appeared he was unable to breathe.

"Kai?!" he said, rushing to the younger boy's side. He placed a gentle hand on Kai's shoulder as if to steady him. It seemed as though the boy were having a panic attack. "Calm yourself. Take a breath, it will be alright. What is happening? Why are you so upset?" His speech was fast-paced, and he was not quite sure what he needed to do.
