THE UNDERBIRTH - open ;; Meeting 6/22 - KETER F. - 06-22-2024

The sounds of the gory fight were muffled, faded into eerie silence of the ground-level night. The white-and-red wolf stalked through the old stone streets, nose to the ground, blood spilling from her missing eye.

She came to a stop at the entrance of an old ruined church, the smell flooding the place like rotting food. She stepped in, sharp claws clacking against old stone.

"What are you doing?" An older voice echoed from inside. Beside a lit fire was an aging wolf, fur bristled and blue eyes wide. Coward. "The insurgents have to be killed before the sun goes down."

"The sun," the white wolf spoke, her voice echoing as she stepped in further, "Is already down."

"Keter..!? How dare you? How dare Josiah? If he wanted the Covenant so much, he should have talked with the elders!" The older wolf spat, but leaned away from the white wolf as she approached.

Her fury was hidden by a blank stare, a once beautiful face marred with blood and a lost eye. Abijah Fauls, her uncle, the Sentinel. A fool led by a council of fools, a puppet to idiots. Her ruthlessness was a mercy. "The Council was so determined to keep you in power that they attacked us first-" A flat lie, she distinctly remembered one of the others mauling and eating one of the councilmen first before it all began. "They would not listen. You are not worthy to be Sentinel."

She wasted little time in lunging at him, their fight swift and painful. She relished in the taste, the smell, the feeling in her chest as she saw the life fade from her Uncle's eyes. She doused the flame in his own blood, nose wrinkling at the stench. By the time she had begun to drag the body down the red-stoned stairs, the fighting underground had gone quiet.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The sight that met her was bewildering - bodies of both loyalists and insurgents lay scattered, though there were almost only insurgents remaining in the Hold. Among them she could see Josiah, heavily wounded and almost staggering as he tried to rally the others. Her brother, the brawlish bastard, ever the one to throw himself into a fight with very little chance to survive.

With a grunt, she heaved the body of Abijah Fauls from the top of the pillar, letting it fall to the ground in a heavy thump. Her voice followed, a strong, resonating tone that echoed in the Hold. "Covenant! Abijah, our Sentinel, is now dead by my teeth!"

She started down the steps as insurgents - the true Covenant, hollered and howled their victory against their oppressors. Josiah joined her as her paws landed on the stone floor of the Hold. With a subtle bump against her shoulder, he showed his gratitude to only her.

"This revolt has left us barren, without a Centurion, Council, or even Templars. As for Sentinel," She looked at Josiah - a subtle, almost invisible conversation between them. He was too injured to even stand straight. "I will lead until Josiah is healed enough. This is non-negotiable."

"For too long, we have lived as quiet folk under the earth. Abijah and his Council had grown stagnant, and thus, our Covenant had as well. Now, as your Sentinel, I hereby allow the raiding of all minor groups surrounding us. Family groups, nomadic tribes, whoever has more than we do. But until we are full in our ranks, we will not attack or raid the Majors," She could see the looks of frustration in the eyes of her Covenant. But the Major groups were far too strong for a group like her Covenant.

Shaking her white fur, she stared at the Covenant members before her. Abijah often looked down at them, while she refused to even stand a step higher. "I would like to enlist some of our homebodies to assist in clearing out old housing, some of our less-utilized caves, and the Hot Springs. And if anyone would like to try and step up for our ranks, let your voice be known."
