Revamp completed! - Orion - 05-05-2024

Welcome to the new platform! The revamp took awhile, but it is FINALLY here after a lot of hard work. We hope you enjoy the new look and functionality as a LOT has been added. Thank you for being so patient and accepting of the bumps we had in the road along the way. Hopefully that hasn't squandered your excitement. Nevertheless, let us get down to the details you have been wanting to know for quite awhile now!
OOC Changes
GuidebookThe guidebook will now be the central hub for all things about Beasts of Beyond. While it is not finished (due to roleplay not being started), we recommend looking it over to review the rules and new features.
Age Requirement Shifted
Beasts of Beyond age requirement is now 16 years of age. It was 13 years old previously.
Player vs Character Accounts
This is a big one. A roleplayer's main account and a character account now have different formatting.
Players now have the option to show:
— Pronouns
— Their Discord (can be set to private)
— All posts made, including linked accounts
— Main account posts
— Linked accounts
— Awards
— Gems (profile only)
— Biography (profile only)
— Custom profile cover, scales with avatar size (UPDATE: Fixed.)
Characters now have the option to show:
— Pronouns
— Their roleplayer
— Posts
— Linked accounts
— Awards
— Items
— Gems (profile only)
— Appearance (profile only)
— Personality (profile only)
— Relationships (profile only)
— History (profile only)
— Custom profile cover, scales with avatar size (UPDATE: Fixed.)
You will have the option between these two options when creating an account, so choose carefully. Old users will have to select this for themselves on old accounts.
Linked Accounts
Linked accounts work a bit differently than before.
— You can create linked accounts in your settings by going to 'Create New Character'
— Similarly to the last platform, you can switch accounts next to your icon in the header. Click 'attached accounts' to prompt a dropdown and select which account you'd like to move to!
— You can no longer merge accounts yourself and will have to request to do so. Contact an administrator to do so.
— Linked accounts are show on your profile/posts
— You can switch post authors by clicking the arrow next your name OR do it while editing posts
(UPDATE: If you're having trouble getting into a linked account, let me know.
The current solution(s) are:
Logging out, logging into the subaccount, and then switching to your main account.
Detaching the linked account and then relinking it.
It was working fine beforehand. Investigating now.)
Gem Changes
The shop has had some minor changes. No new powers/bodies have been added yet, but the prices have changed. All currency has been divided by 100 to create a number that is easier on the eyes and provides better tracking on how many gems you'll get per post. For example, elements were once 100,000 gems, but they are now 1,000 gems. That said, you earn the same amount of gems per post/thread, just divided by 100, so there is no change on acquisition. (Note: A bug currently does not allow gems to be acquired from draft posts. Please keep this in mind when posting! Circumvent this by copy/pasting your posts into a new textbox so you get rewarded properly.)
Staff have decided to not add all gems/powers back yet, as it would prolong the update. Request your powers/gems here instead.
Coding Changes
You can use our new text editor to edit posts without using pesky BBCode! View how your text looks bolded, centered, and colored without posting/previewing. If need be, you can switch back to the source code by clicking the last icon though. This may be easier to do with posting templates. Speaking of...
The old posting templates have been converted over the best they could be. When going back to old templates, you'll notice that some codes will be broken. In particular, codes with tables. Table/td/tr has not been fixed, nor will they be brought back. They caused a mess in the previous platform and I wouldn't like to start that again here. Instead, I encourage the use of flex-boxes and float. Some codes have also broken due to the lack of [/div] at the end or improper formatting.
If you want your templates to be fixed, feel free to ask in the Helpful Hub or the #coding-cot on Discord. I will be fixing as many as possible, including my free-to-use codes.
As of right now, there is no way to save posting templates. This is being worked on. The save template feature works, but parsing the codes does not. Utilize the Coding Corner to store your codes for now.
Awards
Awards, previously known as badges, are pretty much the same. While not all awards have been re-added and assigned yet, we encourage you to take a look at the new functionality of awards.
— Presets allow you to make groups of awards and choose which you'd like to displayed publicly
— You can set a default display order for your awards
— Awards you are missing can be requested
— Your awards can be seen on your profile and when you're posting
Bookmarks
You were able to bookmark posts before and now you can too! Just click on the bookmark icon/text on a post. To view your bookmarks, go to your user settings and click on 'Bookmarked Posts.'
Alerts
A new alert system, along with mentioning, has been implemented. This is in beta, so there may be some issues. Report any bugs to an administrator. Alerts should happen when:
— An award has been added to your account
— You are mentioned in a post
— You are quoted
— A reply to a thread you started has been made
— A buddy list request
— Someone messages you
— Votes in a poll you started
Roleplay Changes
Simply, our old animal roleplay has been archived in favor of a new animal roleplay. As users, you will have the ability to shape this new roleplay by proposing new groups. Group proposals were started before the revamp and have been ongoing in our Discord, but you are free to make a new group still! Proposals will close on May 13th, 2024. Voting will begin after that.As for lore and history, that was briefly discussed in our previous announcement. We will finalize this once groups are decided.
Old characters are free to rejoin our ranks! We suggest that they have been in this new land the entire time with a modified history. Please make sure to get a roleplayer's permission to include their character in their new history. Old groups can be included in this history, but should be vaguely mentioned and assumed to be part of the uncharted neutral lands.
YOUR Next Steps
As users, there are a few things YOU need to do.— Change your main account to 'Player' under 'Account Type' in User Settings.
— Change all character accounts to 'Character' under 'Account Type' in User Settings. This will enable custom character-specific fields for you to fill out, such as a full biography on your character's profile and viewable items on your profile
— Edit your profiles (some images may have broke, especially due to the Discord image update)
— Check to see if you are missing any subaccounts
— Request your powers/gems
— Report any bugs or concerns to @Orion or any staff members
— Fix any old links and replace them with new ones

Profile covers have been fixed! It can now be found under 'Edit Profile' and is labelled as 'Profile Background.'
**Image sizing:**
Min: 1000px x 100px.
Max: 1470px x 410px.
NOTE: Images will resize accordingly to fit, but may lose quality. These dimensions are based on the average screen size of 1920×1080. We recommend using a background/wallpaper that is non-repeating.
P.S. use F5 and ctrl for reloading to see changes.
