The xenosmilus let out a frustrated groan, slapping his massive paw across his muzzle. Anger that was long hidden was bubbling again with recent events, and it was within his home he shared with Saturn that he turned over the hourglass to watch it slowly trickle away. Within the anger, there was fear. Something he hadn't often felt until recent nightmares.
He was angry and scared. Angry at Inferno and Agrimony for their ridiculous actions, and scared that things would get so, so much worse. He didn't want anything happening to the people he wanted to protect. Saturn, Brutei and their kids.. and he didn't want to fail those who had left. AngelEmbrace, Maude, Ruven, Arvid. Some had left, others had died because The Coalition was going too close to the sun. The image of Saturn weak at his side, dying, gripped his mind and he almost slapped the hourglass.

Saturn had briefly stepped out to go grab a few flowers for the home they shared with Byriath. But as soon as they returned to find their husband in such a state they immediately regretted their decision to leave. Gradient paws carried a smaller yet stocky form over to the larger male. The scent of anger and fear wafted off of the other in thick waves and it concerned them snow leopard. “Byriath?” They called out hesitantly. “What’s going through that mind of yours mi amor?”

The relief that Byriath felt, that he did not know he was holding, weighed heavily on his chest as Saturn spoke. He turned slowly, his lower lip quivering. "I... many things run in my head." He spoke softly, gently, as though he'd break into tears if he spoke any louder. "I just wish I could catch them." He smiled, a forced, breaking smile. But he turned to face the hourglass again, and a low sigh left him. "This group is paved with blood, they carved their way into this place by kicking out the previous inhabitants." he rumbled, running his claws along his face. "We leave for two years, and we come back to the same thing. Fools starting wars after all these groups have presumably lived in peace." He swallowed thickly.
"Do you.. think we made a mistake coming back?" He spoke tentatively, teeth clenched, watching that hourglass drain.

Ears flattened as they listened to their husband speak. Saturn drifted closer to Byriath, rubbing against his side before pressing against his chest, tail curling around one Byriath’s front legs. “I know my love, this is not what I had wanted to happen when we came back,” they mused. “But I do not regret coming back to the Coalition, I do believe we will benefit from returning, we just have to hope that whatever tension is rising will settle soon,” they hummed. “Patience mi amor, the time of peace will come soon.”

His body shuddered reflexively at Saturn's closeness, though it was so familiar a feeling. His chin lowered to rest on Saturn's head, and a low rumbling that mimicked a purr left him. Anger cooling as his husband spoke, and a gentle smile became affixed to his face. How grateful he was, to have a lover so pure and positive about the life. How truly happy he was to have Saturn by his side. "You truly believe that..?"
The thought of living a peaceful life seemed like a lie for many reasons. His nature, the nature of the world. He did, sometimes, long for that quiet life in a house, content with Saturn's company.

Saturn's own purr like sound rumbled out in response to their husband's. A smile danced on their maw and their eyes fluttered close as the relaxed against Byriath, it was a habit they never could break once they were blinded. "I truly believe that our peace will come Byriath," they hummed. "There is always a light at the end of the tunnel and this is just another obstacle that life has thrown at us, but we will get past it together," Saturn said, believing with all their heart that the couple will get past this tension that the groups have going on. "It hopefully won't be much longer that things will be resolved between the groups."

The giant beast let out a sigh, staring at the hourglass, at the desk it sat upon, at the journal he was writing. "Thank you, Saturn. Truly, thank you." His voice wavered gently as he spoke, as if he was close to crying. In reality, he was rather close. It was very rare for him to let his emotions out, but in front of Saturn, it really didn't feel all that strange.

Saturn hummed softly in response, stepping back a bit to lift a paw and try to reach out and place it on Byriath's cheek. "Please do not cry mi amor, everyting will be okay," they said after hearing the slight waver in his lover's voice. The snow leopard stepped towards the door, turning his head back towards Byraith and tilting it to one side. "Why don't we go on a walk? It would do us both some good to clear our minds of our worries."

A choked sob left the god as he leaned into Saturn's paw. Everything will be okay. He could only hope. Watching Saturn walk to the door, the god rose from his spot. "Yeah. A walk would be nice." Maybe he could start planning out a garden.

Saturn happily bounded out of the door when it was held open for them. "You're always such a gentleman Byr~" they said in a teasing manner. A giggle slipped from their muzzle as they danced off in a direction to stop a little bit away and wait for their lover. Their body turned a bit to unseeingly peer back at Byr, wings shuffling a bit against their back. "Is there anywhere in specific you would like to go?"
