[div style="width: 51%; text-align: justify; font-size: 10pt; letter-spacing: 0px; font-family: georgia; color: #301014;"]he was very unsure about his choices. the way he felt or the way he was handling it. he was always pacing about. trying to shake the feelings he was slowly catching. he was a stallion and he was catching feelings for a cat. how could that happen? he was so torn. so confused. and yet..he could see her smile. hear her voice. he was constantly fighting the urge to hang out with her. he was ready to scream at himself for thinking of her all the time. how could he not shake the images of her skinning a skull between his hooves? or how she reacted to him when he joined?
inferno.
even her name made perfect sense to him. she was like a fire. you couldn't cage her and he doubted she would feel like he did. that did not mean he couldn't befriend her. she was surely not to wild to want friends? he hoped not, because he was now outside her home. frozen in place as he had no idea how he got there.
he would take a deep breath and tap a hoof. his way of knocking. ah.. inferno? you aren't busy are you? i was thinking we could go to the beach. or i could carry you and we can run free. the thought echoed in his mind.

agrimony. the name that constantly lingered in the back of her mind like a spider that lurked in the corner of her house, occasionally. she saw his large, muscular form, striding around the coalition, very often. she wasn't going to lie to herself - she liked what seeing him did to her body. it gave her a small tingling feeling and made her feel all warm and fluttery inside.
she was sitting by the window, trying to make sense of some words in a particularly tricky book, but the voices in her head were chanting nonsense again. then there was a knock on her door that made her look up with an annoyed sigh. "who-?" she began, but was cut off by a voice she came to be very familiar with. agrimony asked if she wanted to go to the beach - sure, all girls liked getting their fur messy at the beach, didn't they?
she placed a leaf between the pages of the book and shut it, hopping off the seat and quickly making her way to the door with a bright grin on her face. as she opened it his scent engulfed her and made her feel really happy, and the beam turned up a notch as she looked up at him. "i'd be glad to go to the beach with you, agrimony!" her soft accent shone through, she closed the door and with one push of her muscles she landed on his back right between his shoulder blades. it was a spot she had been eyeing for a while and as predicted, it was comfortable. she curled up and a small purr ran through the length of her body.

[div style="width: 51%; text-align: justify; font-size: 10pt; letter-spacing: 0px; font-family: georgia; color: #301014;"]had he only known she thought of him the way he thought of her. maybe he would have spoken up about his feelings right on the spot. he, sadly, had no clue she felt the same feelings he was struggling to hide. ah, it was one of life's greatest shames in all honestly. the male was lost in his thoughts when the door opened. and, like that, he could hardly think in that very moment.then, she said yes to his idea and he was excited. the look in his eyes must have screamed happiness in that moment. he could not have gotten any luckier, really. great! i figured getting out of here for a while would do us both some- the male was cut off as she jumped up.
the weight of her on his spine made his heart skip a beat. he let out a soft cough and began walking carefully. not wanting to drop her if he moved to fast. that could get her hurt, and he refused to let her be harmed. comfy? he joked as he tilted his head to glance back at her a moment.
his hooves picking his way carefully to the beach. he was not sure what they could do when they got there. after all, he never thought he would get this far. so, he was frantically trying to think of something.
anything, really.
it was not long before sand was under his hooves and he came to a stop. eyes looking out over the sparkling water. it is beautiful, isn't it? he asked, but in the back of his mind he had one thought. it echoed like rolling thunder through his mind. not as beautiful as she is.

when she agreed to his idea his eyes sparkled and he looked really happy, elated, even. he said he supposed getting some fresh air would do them both good, but it was cut off as she hopped on his back. his muscles tensed slightly as she made herself comfortable and she took careful notice on how he was moving slowly as to not let her fall, and a sort of sweet feeling welled up in his chest. she began slowly brushing a paw through his mane, holding her own balance.
the way his shoulder muscles moved beneath her stomach tickled her slightly, it was funny and she really enjoyed this method of travel. her size made it easy for her to be in this position and she found it kind of like a massage. he jokingly asked if she was comfortable, and she allowed another purr to vibrate through her body. "you have very broad shoulders so yes, it's comfy!" she leaned forwards and gave his neck a lick, catching a stray leaf with her tongue.
sooner rather than later, she noticed with a slight pang, they arrived at the beach. as he came to a halt she hopped off and stumbled, legs falling asleep briefly. she lay in the sand, limbs tangled all over the place, and huffed out a breath of air but cast her gaze out at the scenery. agrimony said it was a beautiful place and she hummed an agreement. "yeah it does!"

[div style="width: 51%; text-align: justify; font-size: 10pt; letter-spacing: 0px; font-family: georgia; color: #301014;"]the male was happy she was comfy and was sad when he felt her leave his back. inferno laying splayed in the sands next to him would make him smile softly. what could he say now? he was tongue tied as he lowered himself to lay in the sands next to her. just seeing her smile took his words away from him. hearing her voice was like music in his ears. he was struggling to shake the swirl of thoughts and emotions without being to obvious. maybe we can spend the day here? just playing in the sands, or the waves? i know where a tide pool is near here. it has all sorts of starfish in it. he had done some research before coming here.
he was sure that she would love the tide pool. it was shallow, pretty, and the fish inside were a delight. or we can lay here and enjoy the view. maybe we will see dolphins. he adds as another option for them. as long as she was happy, he would be.

he suggested they spend the entire day here, and inferno's ears perked up as she swivelled her head to look at him. she was delighted that he wanted to - she wouldn't be the one to say it first, but she was slightly worried. she didn't want to look too bad in front him, what if the voices in her head decided to act up? what if they made her shriek and giggle and attack him and go absolutely berserk? that would ruin their friendship (we should be lovers instead~) probably, if she attacked him out of nowhere.
he seemed happy enough to want to stay here though, and also mentioned tide pools with starfish, to which she blinked excitedly. she felt her eyes shift in color again, small pink explosions flashing across the shiny orbs - she hadn't visited the small pools yet, so yes she would absolutely love to. "of course i would! the tide pool sounds amazing!" she struggled to her paws and did a little hop-dance in the spot. then, he pointed out they could see dolphins, and her mouth fell open. "do-do you think we could see the dolphins from the tide pool? i wanna do both!"
god, she felt like a kid again. transported back in time to when she was playing with vayne, when she was swabbing the deck as punishment from goldenluxury.. those were her childhood days. slight melancholy took over her optics as they grew still, and she sat down, wrapping her tail around her paws.

[div style="width: 51%; text-align: justify; font-size: 10pt; letter-spacing: 0px; font-family: georgia; color: #301014;"]the male was pleased to hear her excitement as she answered him. his eyes scanned her face as she spoke and he felt those odd butterflies in his stomach again. he was not willing to admit those things. what he didn't realize was her own fears deep inside. or that she felt how he did. if she had voiced her fears or her feelings, well..he would have told her she could never drive him away. that he would never look at her strange because of her voices. that he would never fault her for something she did not have control over. nor did he care that she was different in that fashion. nothing she did would ever change his view or opinion of her.
he truly cared for her in a way he never cared before. i am sure we can. they like to dance in the waves off shore. so, they should be easy to see no matter where you are on the shore line. the male would answer her as he watched her hope/dance in place.
the male would then rise to his hooves once more. lowering his head to nudge her softly. noting the look in her eyes and wondering what was wrong. are you okay? did i say something wrong? he was panicked as he turned his head to look at her better.
part of him was kicking himself for asking if he messed up. part of him was kicking himself for messing up somehow. all of him was sad to see her looking so melancholy. he wanted to fix it.

he proceeded to explain that yes, they in fact could see dolphins anywhere, and that made her heart lift a little bit, the happiness returning to her gaze. yet she still felt a little bit sad - she hadn't had nearly enough time to bond with vayne and she didn't know of her sister's whereabouts. she wondered about her often as she did with her other half-siblings. angelembrace, lethe, hydroestatic.
she shook her head. now wasn't a time to delve back into her memories, she could do that later. she wasn't going to cry in front of agrimony, she couldn't. she wasn't a weakling. he nudged her and she leaned into him as he asked if she was alright and if he did something wrong.
"no, no! you did nothing wrong, it's just.. memories." her explanation was vague but she didn't know how to explain that she was thinking of her most-likely deceased siblings without sounding like an insane animal. she forced happiness into her voice and rose to her paws, allowing her tail to bat him in the nose softly. "will you take me to the tide pools?"

[div style="width: 51%; text-align: justify; font-size: 10pt; letter-spacing: 0px; font-family: georgia; color: #301014;"]her words made him pause in thought for a longer moment. it was not his fault, but it was some distant memories. the stallion let out a faint sigh of relief that it wasn't him. if it had been him, would he have handled it well? not likely, if he was honest. he would have never forgiven himself if he had been the issue. it was with that realization that he knew for sure. he loved her.
from her ivory fur marred with sandy tones of pale brown. her cream undertone. right down to those eyes that could snatch his very soul. she was beautiful and he had to accept that he cared about her on a new level. something he never felt before he met her. sure, he flirted and goofed off. yet, he never once felt this feeling for anyone else before now.
love.
it was a strange emotion, really. he knew he would do anything for her and he would die for her. but, even more so, he knew he would live for her. that was how he knew his true feelings. he never had the desire to live for someone else. he almost missed the flick of her tail on his nose.
almost.
but as anyone knows, almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. he jerked his head back in surprise and felt heat was over his face. then, she mentioned the tidepools and he felt like kicking himself. i'm glad it wasn't me, but.. could he really say what he was thinking?
he had to say it or let himself be eaten alive on the inside. i wish i could make that pain you felt go away forever. there, he said it. he said what he felt and meant in that very moment. after a long pause, he would lower himself slightly. sure. hop on and i'll take us there.
maybe he could find her something special here to make her feel better? god he hoped so. if she hopped up, he would raise to his full height and turn to slowly trot off.

he sighed, in relief, maybe? she couldn't really tell, but it was really light, like a weight had gotten lifted off his chest. as her tail landed on his nose he jerked back, making her muscles tense, then soften as a look of concern formed on her face. did she do something wrong? was she at fault, did she turn him away? she didn't want to, she found him rather handsome and wanted to see where her feelings would lead her, and if she scared him off, well, she didn't know what she would do.
before she could ask if it was her fault, however, he interrupted her softly that he was glad it wasn't him that made her sad. the tone of his voice made him realise that she simply startled him slightly and didn't offend him, so she allowed a smile to form on her face, then froze as he said he wished he could take the pain away from her, forever.
she hadn't had anyone say that to her, ever, and wasn't quite sure how to react. having grown up with no father and a mother who couldn't care less about her of her siblings she wasn't used to having this warm feeling inside. fur heating up in embarassment she shuffled her paws in the sand and watched his muscles ripple as he crouched down slightly. getting used to the pattern, she hopped onto the spot betwixt his shoulders and made herself comfortable.
