fire, feathers, and a little bit of gore // vale and renlys - VALE - 03-28-2022 [align=center] graphic gore ★ genderfluid ★ three-eyed crow
Procrastinating on the many things an ardent needed to do, the crow flew lazy circles above the Pitt’s settlement. The sun hadn’t yet crested the horizon, and the faint light leaking into the sky wasn’t enough to warm the desert from its frigid nighttime temperatures.
YOU NEVER TRUSTED ME ★ Vale told verself that ve’d begin dealing with the todo list ve shared with Olalla once the underground tunnels beneath the Pitt’s territory became toasty during the daytime. This wasn’t strictly necessary to get started on work, but fuck getting up at the crack of dawn for anything but flying. The only thing Vale missed about suffering a breakdown in the middle of nowhere was the freedom to feel the wind in vis feathers anytime ve liked, without having to consider responsibilities. Eh, there was one other thing Vale missed. Ve belched out a fireball and watched it drop all the way to the sands below, bursting against a boulder. Warmth. It was hard to oneself consistently warm when one had so much mass. Renlys could not merely sprawl in a thin ray of sunlight cast upon a branch and be warm for the day. No, instead he had to venture out into the desert during the dusky hours of the night and bury in the still-warmed sand like a common earth drake. It was the slightest bit demeaning in Renlys' own mind - his domain was the sky and sea, as lord of... Ah. Well. Renlys was lord of nothing, prince of no kingdom, and king of no lands. The crown of horns that adorned his head meant nothing in this world. His gods did not look down on him with blessings of rulership. And so he would bury in the hot sand of the desert, purring at the heat that enveloped his body. Warm, sun-baked sand. And then very suddenly, hot sun-baked sand. The dragon lifted his head, nictating membranes flashing across his eyes, clearing away the dust. Scorched sand fell away from his shifting body in blackened clumps. Hm. As far as he knew, sun rays could only do so much damage, and certainly not at night, even in the harsh vastness of the desert. He peered upwards and a smile immediately curled his stony features. Vale. Vale, who flew barely visual to the common eye against the inky black sky. The dragon let out a welcoming screech, a beckoning. Come down, come down was his wordless plea. The earth shifted where Vale’d landed the fireball, and the crow’s flight altered. If ve’d triggered a natural disaster by lobbing a fireball at the ground before vis first week of co-leadership ended… what a way to annihilate the Pitt from being an unlucky, chaotic fuckup.
YOU NEVER TRUSTED ME ★ But Renly’s horned head lifted out of the burnt sands. Vale could breathe and fly normally again. It was one thing to intentionally destroy the Pitt’s black pyramid, and quite another to see the earth rise up from a measly fireball. Head tucked, the crow dived as the dragon bellowed his welcome. Then lifted up, flying so close to the dragon’s neck and head that ve could’ve touched the scales. “What a coincidence, my friend! The one and only fireball lobbed into the desert for target practice landed upon you!” Oops, did that sound sarcastic? Vale was trying to be genuine. Vale flew past the dragon’s neck, circling his head like a single-crow halo. “Hmm, isn’t it too early in the morning for you?” Hopefully not. Though Vale had a sneaking suspicion Renlys was about to breathe fire upon himself to warm up just to go flying with ver. BUT I’M OVER IT NOW [sub][W]isker[/sub] |
