Had Brymstone only been in charge for a couple of weeks?  Sure.  Was Firefly usually bright and bubbly and welcoming, no matter the person, just like her parents taught her?  Definitely.  However, Brymstone had killed her Luminary, her friend.  He was no Tangler.  And though Elsweyr had left no clear delineation as to who would take over in her absence, Firefly had to do something.

With her mind made up and her mask upon her face, Firefly had made her way to the cemetery, back to Elsweyr's grave.  She had brought a small collection of NPCs with her, who now sat around her in a protective ring.  They knew of her plan.  She hoped the rest of her fellow Tanglers would agree with what she was doing.

"Brymstone."  Her challenge was a roar.  "Although the residents of Tanglewood are so glad you dropped by for a visit, you murdered our previous Luminary.  Your services are not needed and it would do you well to step off.  I'll be taking it from here."

straight for the throat you’re like an animal!
in for the kill, like you're an animal!

Ximen stood by Firefly’s side, chewing the butt of a warn out cig, glancing between Firefly and her companions, and growled incoherently. His scorpion tail flexed over his head in a ready-strike pose. He hadn’t been ready to face Brymstone when his sister’s body hadn’t yet lost her living warmth, but now he was pissed, and the anger had cooled over his fear like a pristine glaze over a lumpy cake. The anger steadied his paws.

“And we’re willing to kick Brymstone's ass on the way out.” Ximen’s lip curled into a sneer, and he spat the cig out, crushing the smoldering tobacco under a paw. “So, fuck off.”

Bold.

And fucking stupid.

Let's challenge the muscular, demanding dragon with sharp teeth and a visceral reaction to disapproval with a yell of demands. Atticus could only scoff. While he admired Firefly's courage and bold attitude, he did not see this working out nicely. After all, the canine kept his opinions to himself for a reason. He knew speaking out would get him beheaded or presumably 'disappear' like his beloved mother and soulmate, so he kept his mouth shut and plotted with the rest. Yet here they were. The damage was done.

The wolf approached with the fur standing up on his nape and teeth bared. Claws dug into the floor. His golden hues momentarily shifted towards Firefly with his teeth gritting together in frustration and a look of disapproval, almost to say 'What the fuck do we do now?' to her. Turning back, he watched as the wind ruffled the underbrush. Atticus stood in silence, awaiting the greenery to break and reveal Brymstone.

With no dragon in sight yet, he was going to assume their cowardly, scaled ass retreated, but it never seemed that easy... It never was... Right?
