ALWAYS WANTING MORE ☆ accidental poisoning - ARVID R. - 05-20-2021
When Inferno had initially offered to help him find some flowers, Arvid had been... wary, really. Mainyl because he knew the other was one of Aphra's children, and Aphra's children were kind of like a roulette wheel. Some of them were perfectly fine and normal, and some of them were fucking crazy. He was leaning more towards the crazy side when it came to Inferno, especially considering how she had reacted when he had brought Vayne in, but he still wasn't fully decided. Besides, he didn't mind the extra paws when it came to gathering things – not just tiger flowers, but herbs and poison-making plants as well. So, he had allowed Inferno to accompany him, the pair of them scouring the various islands of the Coalition for anything and everything that could be useful. It turned out to be a fairly uneventful trip, which Arvid didn't really mind. The canine enjoyed the rare moments of piece within the Coalition, especially considering how many groups currently considered them to be a massive target. He could certainly benefit from a peaceful walk through the wilds.
Eventually, though, all things had to come to an end. This particular trip had to end when both his bag and the bag he had given to Inferno were completely full, with no room for anything else to stuff inside. Once that time had come, he had led Inferno back towards his home, muttering as he padded up onto the porch, "You wait out here while I stash these away somewhere. We can probably go to the pub and get something to eat... that much walking made me hungry." He then took both of the bags in his jaws, heading inside to put them in his room for later sorting. Of course, out on his porch where Inferno had been instructed to wait, there was a small basket of muffins. Arvid had prepared them for his next outing to the other groups to see if he could grab anyone else, figuring he'd wait a little while longer before he did so. While he didn't doubt the strength of the Coalition, he also didn't want all of the groups targeting them at the moment. Still, the poisoned muffins still sat out there, ready for when he took his next venture out of the territory.
He never would've expected Inferno to eat one of them, figuring that anyone near his home would ponder the safety of any food nearby.

The walk was fine, him handing her a bag to fill plants in. She did her best to remember the ones he described, noting how each one looked different. A small giggle escaped her. This was fun. They split up, covering more ground, which was great because the process was quick too.
She examined his house as he told her to wait so they could go to eat, a nice little structure, then nostrils flared as a sweet smell drew her attention. Next to the porch were a basket of muffins that looked really good and she padded up to them. Now, she didn't know Arvid dabbled in poison, so without thinking twice that he maybe left poisonous muffins for his clanmates to eat she picked one up and took a huge bite, chewing delicately. "Hey Arvid?" She called out as a surprisingly bitter tang hit her taste buds. "What are in these muffins of yours? They taste kinda funny?"
Her head spun, she blinked and the muffin fell to the ground. "Uh, these taste really strange..." Wanted to stand but found no strength in limbs as poison slowly danced through her system. Tongue grew swollen and thick, she coughed, staggered back, collapsed in a gasping heap.

Out of all of her children, Inferno was not the one she expected would eat something that was left by Arvid's home - not really knowing that Inferno wasn't aware of Arvid's affinity for poison. Coughing and hacking is what alerted Aphra to what was happening, and she came to invesitgate, thinking that Arvid had captured yet another - only for her to be met with Inferno gasping on the ground instead.
"God damn it." Aphra muttered to herself, angry at Inferno for a brief moment but forcing herself to push that anger down, running up the porch to her daughter's side. "BYRIATH!" She shouted, hoping the Guru was close enough to hear, trying to stroke Inferno's back as if trying to comfort her. In reality it was... something to do, because truthfully Aphra didn't know what to do. She dabbled in poison slightly, but not enough to know how to help someone who ingested it. She felt somebody touch her, the paw soft, a familiar voice. The one of her mother. Too weak to protest and push her away the female inhaled before exhaling with a cough, blood spilling from her lips as cough upon cough left her body. God damnit. Was the only thing in her mind right now, paws twitching weakly and limbs trembling, shudder following shudder trembling her being and shaking the female.
Suddenly it was difficult to think, to breathe, to move. She tried speaking to no avail. Where was help? Somebody-
Too late.
One more shuddering sigh left her and the limp form of the female slumped down. She died convulsing, tears filling her optics.

Inferno's trembling was horrid, and if Aphra had an ounce of true motherly instinct in her, perhaps she would have been more worried and frantic at what was happening. Unfortunately for the Vantas she-cat, Aphra only cared for her so much as another Coalitioner; if she died, then so be it. Death wasn't permeant most of the time, at least for Aphra and her father, but they had the ability to possess bodies at will. Inferno however, likely wasn't so lucky.
Inferno's shuddering came to a stop suddenly as the feline took her last breath, with Aphra's paw still on her until the realization came; whether Byriath would be here or not, Inferno was dead. One could not manipulate time. "Shit," Was all the Kingpin could say, ears flattening against her head. Another one down to the count, and so soon after the rescue raid that made so many causalities. Inferno was unfortunately just another body to bury now.[glow=COLOR,1,400] ━ ✧*:･ﾟ[/glow]
