It wasn't all too long ago that several members of Tanglewood had arrived on The Typhoon's tracks, all looking like absolute shit. Maybe that was a bit cruel to say, considering the circumstances, but it was also true. The drought had left them all exhausted and starving, and they had arrived on the border in that state. Initially, Roan had been annoyed, ready to snap at them or turn them away. He already had his issues with the allied group, and he didn't believe in handouts – not if they had somehow managed to get themselves fucked over by another group again. When he had heard that the culprit was a drought this time, though, he had hesitated. The weather wasn't something that they had the ability to control. Not without a whole lot of elementals being used all at once, at least. So, even though it was a bit begrudgingly, he had turned over some of his supplies to them, and had even asked some NPCs to make sure that they were fed before they left. He figured he wouldn't face any protests from his mama, considering she had always been of the mindset to keep allies comfy and close. [align=right][sup][sup]template © tikki[/sup][/sup]Now, it was a while later, and Roan had noticed something – rain. Not within The Typhoon's territory, but within Tanglewood's. It wasn't hard to notice the dark clouds gathered above the swamp when he was flying through the sky, and he almost wanted to laugh aloud when he saw them. Well... he supposed that would help. He knew that one bout of rain wasn't enough to cure an entire emergency, though. It would still be a while before they recovered fully, and that was only if the rain continued. So, even though he was still somewhat hesitant to do so, he had headed back to the temple to grab a few more supplies. Nothing hugely important or impressive, but enough to be of help – plenty of bandages, and various herbs that would be useful no matter what. It was a decent haul, and he packed it all into a basket before he took to the skies once more, in the direction of Tanglewood's territory. When Roan touched down sometime later, he made sure it was down on top of a log, narrowly avoiding slipping into the muck below. Even though the male mostly attributed his issues with Tanglewood to personal interactions, he couldn't deny that he wasn't the biggest fan of their territory. It was a dirty, bug and alligator infested swamp, after all. Thankfully, his wings made it easier to avoid the worst parts of the territory. With a low hum leaving him, the soothsayer glanced around him, looking for any signs of sentient life. When he came up with nothing but the scent of Tanglewood's border on the air, he finally sighed and carefully placed his basket down, calling out, "Hey! Is anyone here? I've got some shit for you guys!" He couldn't help sounding a little demanding. For one thing, it was his usual tone. For another thing, he was pretty eager to get back home, considering The Typhoon wasn't exactly in perfect shape at the moment, either. It was true, the rain had come and the damage that the drought had caused would be reversed in due time. Everything from the dead foliage to the starvation that the residents of the swamp had been forced to survive. She wasn’t entirely sure everyone made it out alive, that seemed unlikely, but she had yet to find any skin and bone corpses around. Some of the newer faces were sparse, which wasn’t always a great sign in a place like this, but she was sure that they were going to survive after all, generally speaking. Bugging her still though was having to lay down her pride for the sake of asking for assistance, which even from an ally felt wrong. While most stuck to their own, even she forgot they had a friendly neighbor in the form of a crew of funky little pirates, Tanglewood was sort of...isolated? No, that wasn’t it. No longer neutral either. Perhaps the word would come to her. The point was that asking for help felt foreign and wrong to her. But there hadn’t been any choice. [align=right][sup][sup]template © tikki[/sup][/sup]And while she was recovering quickly, every so often the fatigue of just that would catch up to her. Hunting was a chore still, which resulted in Arrow hissing at a creature that got away, a deer or something. It didn’t matter, she wasn’t quick enough. Which was probably pathetically funny given her current form, but she didn’t know how to use cheetah tactics just yet, and wasn’t about to risk colliding with a tree at high speeds. Either way, the much needed distraction from her frustration came in the form of a particularly demanding medic. ”Aw, you shouldn’t have. What’s the occasion?” Popping her head out from around a tree, a little on the cautious side only for the sake of her new family, and the scars of Jormungand’s barbaric attack still very much felt. But he smelled like the Typhoon, which was to say Roan carried the scent of sea salt within a land of freshwater. More or less obvious. Similarly to Arrow, Roan didn't exactly like asking for assistance from others. He preferred to deal with things on his own, in pretty much every aspect of his life. The only people who were exceptions to this rule were Roxie and Diya, considering his two mothers always seemed to provide good advice – even if Rox's was occasionally a little farfetched. On the opposite side of things, he did like providing help to others. Hell, if he didn't, then he never would've pursued a medical path in the first place. He didn't like leaving others to suffer through no fault of their own, hence why he was here in Tanglewood in the first place – even if he still wasn't a big fan of them. It was probably a good thing that Arrow was the one to heed his call, considering his issues with some of the members of Tanglewood – namely the Ciphers of Tanglewood, although last he had heard Vigenere was dead. The former luminary was the one that had initially ignited Roan's dislike of Tanglewood as a whole, and he probably would've been surprised to hear that the other had managed to crawl his way back to the group. [align=right][sup][sup]template © tikki[/sup][/sup]Still, none of that was the topic at hand, nor why he was here. His tail was twitching behind him as he answered Arrow, gesturing one dark paw at the basket in front of him, "I noticed the rain coming down a while ago, and I figured you guys would probably be celebrating. I know that you don't just bounce back from a drought in a few minutes, though, so I figured I'd bring by some more supplies. It's nothing all that exciting, but I figured your medic would appreciate it... Moth, right?" He thought that was what her name was. At least, it was what he had heard from the few monthly gatherings he had went to, before he had mostly shunned the concept in favor of staying at home. After a moment, the soothsayer's gaze drifted towards the rest of the swamp around them, picking up on the faint scent of deer on the air. Had he interrupted Arrow in the middle of hunting? With a frown on his muzzle, Roan muttered out an apology, "Sorry if I interrupted you from something... I just don't like staying here for too long. The humidity gets to me." That and other things, but the humidity of the swamp was a pretty major factor, especially with the very recent rain. |
