WON'T MATTER TOMORROW ☆ o, missing - FRAGGLEROCK. - 05-04-2021 Quiet. It was deathly silent in the main cavern, around the area of where Fragglerock's nest laid. The pile of bedding laid undisturbed and abandoned, with the scent of the boy that had once inhabited it being a day old, at least. Unfortunately, it would be some time until the rabbit – or lion, depending on the day – would come to inhabit it once more, unless something was done.
That morning, a group of NPCs from The Golden Eye had left the territory, following after the scent trail that Fraggle had left behind. The day before, Fragglerock had told said group that he was heading out to explore, explaining that he wanted to see just a bit outside of the territory. The NPCs had initially been hesitant, but the cub had reassured them that he would be back soon, and that they could come after him if he wasn't back within a few hours. Needless to say, he hadn't returned within a few hours. In fact, the night had come and gone, and there was no sign of the pebbleclaw's return. So, the group of NPCs had set out, following the slowly deteriorating and stale scent trail of Fraggle as it led past the border of The Golden Eye, and into the neutral lands. It only seemed to keep going and going, until eventually it came to an end – but not where Fraggle was. Instead, the group found themselves frozen at the edge of a desert, the smell of another group heavy on the air. Nearby, Frag's scent lingered, along with dried blood staining the sand. The rush back to The Golden Eye's territory was frantic, with the NPCs practically stumbling over each other as they scrambled to reach the rocky plateaus once more. The entire group was panting as they re-entered the main cavern, with many others nearby looking at them curiously, wondering what had them looking so panicked. There was a certain amount of hesitation on the air, before finally the leader of the small group of NPCs stepped forward. His voice shook as he called out, sounding anxious and distraught, "Arlo! Aesior! Everyone... Fragglerock is missing. He... he went out beyond the border to explore, and we were able to track his scent, but... someone took him. We got to the border of a desert, and there was... there was blood on the sand, and his scent led deeper inside. We believed that The Pitt may have him." It was dreadful news for one to deliver, especially when said NPCs were partially responsible. Still, it needed to be reported, or else there was a chance that Fraggle would never be returned. That he would end up another skull buried beneath the sands of The Pitt's desert. ☆ — what of the meek, the mourning, and the merciful? His gut twisted in two. At least, it felt like his, the hair on his back standing straight up. Slowly, the draconic spikes along his spine stood up as he stepped out of his den. Destructively cold anger swirled around his heart, and those red eyes of his were no longer kind and soft. They looked like a killer's, something that felt out of paw for Arlo. He spoke quietly, and yet his words carried across the cavern.
"I don't think it was very wise to let him outside the territory." Those were the first words out of his mouth. His cruel gaze shifted towards the NPCs, before back towards the collection of members before him. "I'll be having a discussion with those responsible." He stated, Arlo's words a cold promise of punishment. His eyes closed, some of his fur laying down but the spike remained active. Thoughts started to circle his mind. While Cleo was right, it wasn't a wise idea to march onto territory bigger then theirs, they couldn't leave Fraggle there alone either. Arlo exhaled through his mouth, eyes opening. "We'll be going after him, but as a small concise squad. What little I know about them, I know that the majority if not all of the groups on this island will not harm a child." Arlo said. His words were cool and calculated now, some of that anger ebbing away. An exhale left him. "We go in and negotiate first. I have no doubt they'll hand Fraggle back over." He stated. The cries of the desperate NPCs reached his ears, his skin pricking beneath his fur. Fragglerock. His son. He wasn't his yet, but that boy was his son. Stiff the legs that followed the group in, his eyes narrowed and tail lashing. He doubted he'd heard right. They let the child go out on his own, even with a child's promise. Fraggle was a child and trusted others too easily. A child was decisive until it became scary. There was no new trace of his son in camp. The fur along his spine was twitching and ruffling, cold gray eyes darkening the further he listened.
He could feel an anger, a rage that boiled deep inside his heart, roaring and beating through him. it was vicious as the instincts he held in check. His body might be smaller but he'd been a soldier and a guardian of the god of death. The wars he'd long left behind itched under his coat. They'd taken his son, the one person he should be able to protect. They'd taken an innocent child, even if he had gone to their border. He couldn't calm the flame of rage in his chest, narrow slitted pupils holding Arlo in their view as his tail lashed. His words weren't necessary. He didn't need to be allowed to go. This was his family, a person he was sworn to protect. If he was told to stay behind, he would ignore such an order. He would go by himself if forbidden to go. Pebbles rattled around his paws, Gladiolus flowers exploding into life upon his shoulders and around his paws. "I'll move alone if I'm made to stay behind." he attempted to announce. It wasn't a threat - it was a direct promise. space
