Angel’s head lifted up from a somewhat ruined book he’d found and had decided to try and preserve to the best of his ability, looking through the pages when Aphra came looking for him. He’d be lying if he said he was surprised, after all, she wasn’t exactly known for her ability to converse with her children. The only thing he could imagine would drive her to this was the comments he’d made previously, but he was still fuming at her behavior towards Ruven, and ended up finding that fact funny. Looks like she couldn’t just ignore it after all.

Full names, even, I didn’t think you had it in you to care enough to recall them.” The cub responded dismissively, padding over the ground carefully, making an attempt to not get too much leftover mud on himself. His brow raised when he noticed the angry look upon his mother’s face, not too amused by the realizing an angry, pregnant dragon was what he would have to deal with. He didn’t think Aphra would sink as low as to eat one of her own spawn, but...you never knew. ”I’m a bit busy, y’know...doing anything else? Can we make this quick, Mama, what do you want?”

That was a new one, he hadn’t heard her say that before. Very nice. ”Aw. But I like lying. I’ve gotten very good at it, too, I can even say that you’re such a warm and caring individual without gagging once, and that’s impressive.” Theatrics would be his forte, he would make sure of it. Though he did realize that she would not appreciate his list of skills, but he couldn’t please them all now could he? Admittedly, the reaction from his earlier commentary both frightened him and only served to encourage his bad behavior, this was, if nothing else, the most attention and conversation he’d ever gotten out of his mother. Which brought his thoughts up to the next potential target, Aphra’s almost humorous habit of selectively choosing when to acknowledge her place as his mother.

Sounds harsh, actually.” And miserable. Angel squinted in thought, for a moment legitimately trying to think of a more fitting word to use. Curiosity, really. ”I’ll give you the credit of giving birth, no easy task, but no more, no less. Besides, you should know better than to talk about your son like you have, and as long as I’m still breathing with my tongue in tact, I’ll speak to you how I feel like speaking to you.” He clicked his tongue once as if to prove a point, raising his brow lazily. He wouldn’t look intimidated, he refused to give her the satisfaction.

But that was of no consequence to him, he stayed behind on his own volition and was determined to see that through. Although, he made a mental note to visit the Pitt once more when he was just a little bit older. "He did his job, you did your job. I fail to see your point." Angel mused, blinking slowly as if that was simply the most obvious thing in the world.

Angelembrace feigned his misery, pressing the back of his paw to his forehead and turning away. While he was mostly being a little jackass on purpose, on a winning streak in his own opinion, he realized with a sudden strike of dread that he was truly picking up her cynicism. But that was simply a very vague trait, right? Anyone could pick that up. Aphra just...made it more potent. Yes, that was it. A terrible thought, becoming his mother.

Perhaps he was, he knew that everything could only last so long and even the mockery he made of his mother would keep him entertained for a limited time, then it just became exhausting. She was so certain of her skills, he almost wanted to give her more credit just believing so strongly in her terrible way of raising children. "I have done nothing of the sort. Your actions are your own, I'm sure there's something positive in there somewhere to balance it out." He defended, sitting up straight and smacking his tail against the ground, before promptly checking for any disturbed dirt, brushing his soft tail off with his paws. "If you need an apology so terribly, I will give you just this one, your ceaseless habit of birthing children is none of my concern, nor do I care about your other offspring." He blinked, then looked up at his mother with a bitter, but otherwise restrained expression. Neutrality. "You certainly have a funny way of raising me. Who taught you to be so distant in your skills as a mother?" Maybe he could get answers out of her, but if not, and he certainly was banking on that, he could find any other path that wasn't a screeching and offended string of words that she could not defend. It was becoming tiresome.
