MARTINI ON THE RUN | never have I ever - westley h. - 04-22-2021

Westley had yet to find himself spend more time anywhere other than the marketplace.  While the leopard had an overall quiet nature, he enjoyed witnessing the hustle and bustle of the day.  Simply listening to idle chatter while resting beneath the shade, the feline allowed his mind to wander.  Until, as often the case, an idea weaved itself in.

He had met many of his new clanmates already, but he would like to know them better.  Besides, the day seemed perfect for a friendly game.  If I only had a set of cards.  No matter, there were other social games.  "Would anyone be up for a game of never have I ever?"

Tense.  Frustrated.  In her state, the petite deer-fox usually avoided the marketplace.  Simply walk through without pause.  Head to her garden.  Pull the weeds trying to take root after the freeze.  Nearly did walk through.  Right past the Pitt's newest paleblood.  The clouded leopard.  The friendly tea-maker who spoke French.

Her ears remained flat against her head.  But she stopped.  Couldn't help it.  Questions resting on her tongue, sitting in the back of her throat.  Grasping at memories.  Looking.  Trying.  Coming up blank.  A puzzle with scattered and illogical pieces.

Her wings shifted closely at her sides.  A game?  Teeth caught the inside of her cheek and chewed.  Uncertain.  She really should pull those weeds.  But... Could she learn something... From this game?  Or would the pieces continue to stack up.  Incomprehensible.  She shook the thoughts away.  Offered Westley a small smile.  Maybe it'd just be... Fun.  Maybe.

"Sa-salut, Westley.  I- I'll play."

Westley grins.  Happy to draw in both Aine and Hydrostatic, eyes bright as the boy asked for clarification.  This would be the first time he played then, hopefully they made it fun.  "It's a really simple game," he declares, nodding his head.

"On your turn, you say something you've never done, but if someone else has, they have to raise a paw." Or drink, but he had no intention of playing with alcohol today.  "It's sort of a fun way to get to know everyone."

"I'll give an example, then one of you go, okay?  You start your phrase like this 'never have I ever...' and whatever it is that you've never done.  Okay so, never have I ever..." Goodness, a long life could create empty thoughts.  How about something silly?  "Eaten a bug."

"If you ever have eaten a bug," his whiskers twitched, "raise a paw. Now one of you can go."

Aine couldn't hide the snort in amusement.  Bemused.  A bug?  She was an omnivore by nature, but an herbivore by choice.  Even she wasn't... She doubted she'd try.  She kept her hoof on the ground, unsurprised Hydrostatic kept his paws down too.

Shapeshifting was another story.  A dramatically betrayed look crossing her face briefly.  She'd been born a fox, not this hybrid she was now.  Although she felt comfortable and right this way, shifting had been the culprit behind the initial change.  She raised a hoof.

"Kind-kinda of runs in my family." The thought of her brother brought her heart into her stomach.  The first member she'd thought of but it didn't make it hurt any less.  Besides, her father couldn't... As far as she knew anyway.

Was it her turn now?  Stars.  She shifted her weight from one side to the other.  She could mention eating meat but... That felt like a low blow.  Especially since both Hydrostatic and Westley were both felines.  Aine furrowed her brow.  "Oh um.  Never have- Never have I ever gone swimming."

She didn't know how much water the Coalition had around, but Westley seemed old enough... But then again, she was older than she looked.  Almost three years.  She'd simply never given the pastime a go.

The leopard chuckles.  As expected, neither raised a paw for his example.  When Hydrostatic spoke however, he found a paw smoothly lifting up.  Westley happened to be a very proficient shapeshifter -- a skill useful in his line of work.  Previous line of work now, although he had no hesitations to step into the same field again, should he be asked to.

Aine's words catch him off-guard and he almost grinned, ready to support her statement before he recalled she did not know him.  Not like that.  I still need to talk to Gael.  Instead, he tilts his head,  "mine as well."

Now swimming kept his paw up.  Both Aine and Hydrostatic were incredibly young compared to him, but he had always thought of swimming as something everyone did some time.  An assumption he found himself re-evaluating, especially put into the context of desert life.  "I suppose it wouldn't be common pastime here."

They were back around, to him it seems.  See how long I can keep this up.  "Never have I ever.. Been stung by a bee." Somehow.
