Following his usual border patrol, the vulpine trotted quietly along the outskirts of the jungle, close to the sand.  He considered the weather drastically improved from his previous state, although he would remain wary of the blood nile -- only a true concern should they see more spring rains.

As ink-splashed paws quietly treaded over the sand, Gael raised his head.  He had been following the shadow of a hawk for a steady distance, watching and waiting.  Since there was a feast to plan and prepare, he would not waste the opportunity to add to the food storage.

The Ardent's hazel gaze slowly scanned the nearby desert.  Assuming good fortunes there would be a rabbit or something similar on the move.  A distraction to bring the bird of prey closer to the ground, and consequently, the fox who waited.

As it were, he continued to follow the hawk.

The vulpine's ears perked subtly, flicking once as he gradually decreased his pace.  While the cub's stealth could use work, the Ardent hardly minded offering him the victory -- a painful memory of his son briefly resurfacing within the edges of his mind.  His children used to play chase together.

He continued to keep one eye on the sky before the youth jumped, tail within his grasp.  Gael tilted his head away only then, the faintest touch of a smile on his maw as he regarded the cub.  "Dia dhuit, Hydrostatic," he greeted, reaching a gentle, almost playful, paw to push the jaguar off his tail.

"Practicing your hunting?" It was a good skill to rehearse at his age, even in a mischievous manner.  Gael clearly approved, nodding.

"Would you like to try for something you can share with your clanmates?" There was no reason not to encourage the boy while they were out, though he decided swiftly that the hawk would be a poor choice.  It would be better to find something without sharp talons.
