you wanna open your eyes ._. fishing - LETHE ELD-CIPHER - 04-17-2021 Re: you wanna open your eyes ._. fishing - SÉAMUS - 04-17-2021 ☠ | Séamus Ó Faoláin The Irishman considered himself proficient in many survival skills. As a prince and pirate, it was important he could manage on his own. As a small wildcat, he did not often jump into the water -- if he desired a fish, he often shifted into a body better suited.
Not everyone could simply change their body's shape at will however; they needed to learn the hard way. It felt like a shame too, since Séamus himself preferred giving chase than simply sweeping a fish out of the water or stabbing it with a spear. Simply sitting and waiting took a great deal of patience he could respect, but there was a thrill and challenge to chasing the fish under the water. When the faerie spotted the Survivor attempting to hunt with a makeshift spear, he sat on the sand to watch. Honestly curious at first, but growing amused as the attempt with awry. He chuckled quietly, though he meant no harm from it, resting his tail over his paws. "I don't believe salamanders hunt wit spears," he pointed out, sea-green eyes glinting. Though I would like to see that. "If you're new to fishing, I wouldn't suggest tryin the ocean. You want calmer waters to see better." Diving into the water and swimming after her prey. Of course, at her current size and age... She had yet to make any such attempts. Even though the water often tempted her...

Of course, the beach was fun. She enjoyed watching the crabs and finding seashells. She liked the way her webbed paws sank into the sand. It wasn't anything like the wood of a pirate ship. It still made her giggle, as it stuck to her snow white fur. She'd been digging a small moat to see how the water and sand mixed when she spotted Séamus. Sea-green hues bright. Quickly, she scrambled over, smiling. "Da!" Who was he talking to? Were they trying to fish? Rowena rolled onto her father's paws, tilting her head upwards at both adults. "Drayden practiced fishing on the pier!" "'e didn ave a spear though," she added more thoughtfully, brows creased. She'd never seen anyone fish with a spear before. © MADI Re: you wanna open your eyes ._. fishing - LETHE ELD-CIPHER - 04-18-2021 Re: you wanna open your eyes ._. fishing - SÉAMUS - 04-19-2021 ☠ | Séamus Ó Faoláin Séamus peered down at his daughter, eyes warm. As he considered the Survivor's method and the mention of the pier, he nodded thoughtfully. "Not a bad place, if you can reach down. I'm not sure if it suits usin a spear."
He chuckled quietly as he freed one of his paws from his daughter's rolling, attempting to push her away playfully, pointing in the direction of the Tiger's Boardwalk. "She's talkin about the boardwalk over there." Any tips? "The sun plays tricks on the water. You 'ave to take in account that what you see isn't exactly 'ow things are. You want to watch your shadow too -- if the fish know you're there, you're not catchin them." Re: you wanna open your eyes ._. fishing - sunsetkisses - 04-22-2021 ★

She was no stranger to fishing, unlike their poor Survivor here, but Sunsetpaw had also never actually fished in the ocean. Mostly rivers, streams, whatever she could get her paws into, but she’s never actually been near the ocean until now. It was rough, the waves weren’t friendly and the salt took time to get used to. But she was persistent, and she didn’t have a choice otherwise.
”We fishing over here? It’s a bit hard by the shore don’t you think?” She tilted her head, having missed the previously lost spear but getting the general idea, or at least she thought so. Unless of course, the spear was for a brutal sneak attack and this was all a very elaborate ruse and the strange white feline was a supervillain genius! Probably not though, that would have been stupid. She flailed about for a second, rolling her mink-like body around full-circle. Covered in sand.

Practically aglow, the child's grin turned into a pleased beam. Happy the pier was helpful information. Hopefully it worked out, though it would be a different angle... Rowena attempted to pounce back onto her father's paw as they discussed the matter, glancing up as Sunsetpaw approached. Would they be going to the boardwalk then? That sounded like fun! Less sand to play with but that was okay. They were focused on fish now. "I can't reach the water from the pier but I can look for the fish!" The tiny hybrid offered. © MADI Re: you wanna open your eyes ._. fishing - Onyxdreams - 05-03-2021 ~ ☼ Well, Onyx could say that out of all the attempts at fishing that she had seen so far, the one Survivor seemed to be using was...ah...creative? She had to admit, throwing a pointy stick into the water at fish, if nothing else, seemed pretty challenging, and probably more than a little fun too. She wondered which of them would catch a fish first if she made it into a contest, but, well, she didn't exactly have a stick...er, spear? Whatever it was though, she wanted one now, if only to give this a shot herself. "Room for one more?" the hybrid asked as she padded up next to the group, keeping pace with them as they made their way out and down to the pier, which was coincidentally they only place she had ever really fished.
It really was much easier to catch some fish there, honestly it was almost too easy, the way they just constantly grouped up underneath. "Soooo...you uh, mind if I try hitting a fish or two with that, huh?" she asked, she didn't really have any experience with throwing....well, anything except maybe a rock or two, but what she did have was confidence! That, and a bit of advice from Séamus now, which was confusing, she knew about the whole shadow bit, but what exactly did he mean by the sun playing tricks on the water? |
