SMILE FOR THE PHOTO ☆ o, birthday - FRAGGLEROCK. - 04-14-2021

One's birthday was an important day in their life, at least for most. Most people used the day as a time to celebrate and have fun, and Fraggle was no exception. However, there was a slight problem when it came to his birthday... he couldn't really remember it. He couldn't remember when he had been born, just as he couldn't really remember any of his old family, or if he had any siblings or anything like that. It was an unfortunate thing to deal with, but there wasn't much that he could do about it. He hadn't discovered any way to just force his memories to come back, which meant he wouldn't be able to remember when the day was anything. When the young rabbit had realized that, he had decided to put the whole thing behind him, figuring that there was no use dwelling on it. All he would end up doing in the end was making himself depressed when he couldn't remember a day that was so important to many others. He had better things that he could focus on – happier things.

And that was how the state of things had remained, for a while. That is, until today. April 14th. To most, the day wouldn't seem all that different. People were milling about as usual, and the group seemed as normal as ever. For Fraggle, however, everything seemed off somehow. It was like there was a constant itch running up his spine, badgering at him near the back of his mind. There was something he was forgetting, and he knew it. He honestly couldn't think of a more frustrating feeling in the world, practically pacing – or quickly hopping – back and forth in front of his cavern. Eventually he ended up just letting out a groan, tugging lightly at his feathered ears as he muttered, "What is it...? Why can't I remember... come on, why?" He honestly wanted to just throw in the towel and give up on trying to figure it out, but he also couldn't. No matter how much he tried to ignore the feeling, it just continued to badge at him, incessantly trying to remind him of what he was missing.

Then, it hit him. Like a freight train, really. There was a sudden flash of memory within his mind, although it was blurry and disorienting. November 14th... himself. Warmth. Calm. Then, light. Yelling. The shove of other bodies against his own, and a desperate race for milk, and nutrients. 5 months ago, he had been born. That was what he had been trying to remember. As soon as it returned to him, Fragglerock felt filled with both shock and excitement. It was wonderful, and he couldn't help letting out a cheer of joy, his fluffy tail twitching behind him. He wasted no time in hopping away from his cave, moving out into the morning air and seeing the usual crowd of others getting to work. He didn't want to interrupt, but he did want to make his announcement. So, he sat back on his hind legs, calling out cheerfully, "Hey, everybody! I'm five months old today!" Of course, once that particular call was out into the open air, Frag wasn't quite sure what to do with himself. What was one supposed to do on their birthday? How was he supposed to celebrate?

[align=center][div style="font-family: arial; font-size: 7.5pt; max-width: 440px; text-align: justify; line-height:120%"]The celebration of such things as having experienced a certain frame of time seemed rather arbitrary, a distraction that offered little and tasted bitter once it was concluded. There was a particular ease in deeming Vincent one who thought little of such things when his opinion was apparent, a day as any other his own during his nine years. Yet a discrepancy was there, his own lack of interest did not apply to others and he revealed in the festivities even as he denounced his own. Why rob a joy that another found pleasing when he had lost it, to make another as miserable as him seemed counted productive.

Indeed a normal day was this, as any that had passed before, early had he been roused from slumber, though his eyelids were not burnt with perverse imagery and it instead was long since hammered in habit. Languid his rise, time spent stretching out each extremity, familiar the tingle that worked at the space between skin and muscle, a fine static that verged on painful. Slow the shake of each paw, the sensation slow in departing as nerves awoke, a final sharp twinge concluding it. Lacking anything that may cause him to linger for any time longer his departure came about, few those occupying the wider cavern beyond, some very apparently still waking fully.

All ignored as he stepped out upon the smooth ledge beyond entrance, chilled still even as the sun began to rise over the uneven horizon, faint still the spill of illumination he watched through narrowed eyes. Difficult to truly determine the amount of time that had passed, mind wandering, evidently still sleep close enough at hand he slipped once more beneath the embrace of the sunlight. Sharp the noise that bypassed clenched teeth, back straightening as eyes opened, pain working along his spine, unused to such sudden movement.

Annoyance sharpened the words laid across his tongue, vision quickly moving across the stone shelf in search of the culprit, his mind finally catching up and registering the clap that had startled him. There was no chance to speak, however, the realisation of who spoke leaving the insults to fall away. Some seemed perplexed, even annoyed as they, too, located the rabbit that had apparently interjected in a manner that broke various conversations. It was the few sparse calls in response that finally clued Vincent in as to what Fragglerock had announced with an enthusiasm somewhat dampened beneath confusion.

His birthday.

A few times did he blink, registering the situation. Short the time had Fraggle been among them, longer than he had though such an unnecessary thought left aside for now, still the change was evident. As with any child he had grown at an exceptional pace, the change gradual and minute enough it was missed until the other could be truly studied, the evidence more than clear. Gradual his rise, closer stepping, tongue tied in a bid to find something, anything to say. Too little did he know the child, surprising than how much gravity the situation seemed to bear.

"Happy birthday." All that came forth as his mouth finally began to move, his mind slowly turning. In the departure of a proper celebration was he rather lacking, no ideas coming up, thus to the possibility of a gift did he turn. What could one get such a kid, what might be suitable.
