Through the tired expanses of Sebastian's mind they believed they could still become a lizard. A great being, engineered to kill and climb the trees of the Frostblown. From their house in the trees, tired but resilient smile on their face, they readied to leap. Running and jumping from the house, triumphant look on their face as they imagined the mottled scales, curved claws, the power of their great form.
It was when they smacked into a branch that they realized the attempt was a failure. Scrabbling onto the branch, their wings flared and open wide. For a moment, they were so tired, the mere energy that went into trying to shift was too much. They slumped, body suddenly heavy.

Being a child of Caesar, Horizon was no stranger to powers. Though he wasn't aware of him having any himself personally - but that didn't mean that they just couldn't pop out of nowhere. Horizon knew that was a possibility but no matter how hard he tried to attempt at a power, or focused on the specific power he thought he would have, it wouldn't work.
"You good, man?" Horizon's soft bark came from behind Sebastian, a small frown of concern on his face as his clanmate slumped to the ground. Sebastian had been there for him when he was by the river and although Horizon assumed branches and getting smacked in the face was not a fear or trigger, the devil still felt like he was obligated to sit by and talk to Sebastian.

[b]"eh? Oh." The demon craned their neck back, smile on their face as they recognized Horizon. "Hello. Yeah I'm just-" They yawned. "-tired, is all. And a bit salty." Why wouldn't they be salty? They thought they had the ability to turn into a giant fucking lizard, only to figure out that they couldn't now.

sebastian landed ungracefully, jade caught the entire scene through bright optics and a purr left her throat, mirth dominating the sound. the winged female hopped down from her perch, landing with a spread of her smooth wings and a skip. "seb, what exactly were you trying to do? she teased slightly, not at all afraid of horizon despite the devil dominating her in size and age.

A soft tread of pads, tired the maw that split open in a thunderous groaning yawn. Shit, he'd slept in and the noises from Sebastian's collision had awoken the Sage. Blinking the sleep from his eyes with a gesture of his paw and a half-grunt, he would approach, "Seb? What happened?", he would trail in behind Jade, his ears flicking as he stretched.
He really had to get up earlier - though it was to be expected from his absence for a few days. Padding closer, he would sniff the other as they yawned and spoke, sneezing slightly before stepping back, "If you're hurt ask One to look you over", he murmured faintly, still trying to wake himself up.

The demon flashed a cold grin to Jade, but it dropped as they saw Auberon. [b]"Was just trying to change forms. I could do that once." but apparently not now. They yawned again. "I'm just tired and dazed." wings twitched and they blinked slowly, lazily. "Just very.. very tired."

"Shapeshifting, huh?" Horizon asked for clarification. "I didn't know that could take a lot out of you." He would have to keep that noted, should he want to ever try it for himself. "We can all take you back to your den if you want, just staying nearby in case you happen to pass out or something."

"trying to change forms?", he mused, the thought a new one to him. he knew that there were some strange powers within this land, he wasn't to judge anyone for any power that they may have. nodding as they said they were tired, smiling to horizon for his suggestion. clearing his throat as he added on, "we can stay by your side if you wish of any of us, to make sure that you get back safe.", he would rumble, tail twitching softly behind himself.
lifting his gaze to the surrounds with a rumble, nose twitching as he scented the air from curiosity. the ability to shapeshift, as horizon had mentioned, seemed to be of it's own interest. "what were you trying to change into?" he would ask, wondering how easy or hard the shapeshift within itself could be. did they imagine the body they wanted? how did it work? it could only remind him of tales he'd heard of shapeshifters, though he'd never quite seen such a thing.
