Danny had seen the earrings adorning the members of the Typhoon, but never really gave it any thought until now. Mostly because he’d picked up on how it was commonplace, and sometimes someone would walk in without one and walk out with a new shiny piece of jewelry. Piecing the ear looked like it hurt, just thinking about it made him wince and want to rub his own ear, but if he was meant to stay here, eventually it looked like he would have to suck it up and get with the program. Besides, they were at least pretty.

Roxanne’s voice is what disturbed him from his quiet nap, curled up into himself in a secluded corner near the tavern itself, having caught an isolated ray of sun to keep him warm while he continued to be a little recluse. Danny raised his head, unraveling the ball of black fluff and squinted at the light, the sparkling against Vayne’s light fur was almost missed. He caught it, just after a moment of letting his eyes adjust, having just been thrown into a hazy change of sun and audio. ”Looks really nice.” He complimented quietly, leaving most of the talking to the captain and whoever else might stumble across the beta and her new golden accessory. He simply wasn’t much of a talker, especially not in public. Double points for the captain being around. No thank you.

Honestly, Roan could hardly remember when he had gotten his quartz earring. All he could truly remember was that it had been hanging off of his ear for most of his life, and it was a constant reminder of the path that he had chosen. It was a path that he was happy with, even if it did cause him a great deal of stress, and exhaustion. Although, it was less of a problem nowadays, considering he had both Goldie and Sea to help him out. Either way, he doubted that he would ever take the earring off, just because he had become so used to the weight. It was almost a comfort, in its own kind of way.

The soothsayer had been passing by the tavern that day when he spotted Vayne and the little crowd gathered around her. He hesitated for a moment, figuring he could take a second to see what was going on. He had been planning on going and grabbing some herbs for his satchel, but he could take a minute he supposed. Moving over to stand beside his mama, Roan's blue gaze scanned over Vayne for a moment before pausing when he spotted the earring. With a small smile curling in his muzzle, the medic muttered, "I got my earring a long time ago, when I chose the Necro Mambas as my division... I barely remember how it felt. Yours looks very nice on you, you know. Do you have any idea of what divisions you'll be in? You can get a charm based off of which one is your primary one." He couldn't help but be curious. Had Aphra even bothered teaching her about the divisions, before dragging her away?[/td][/tr][/table]

Huh, he was getting pretty close to that time, the time to move up and start working on what he wanted to do with his life among the crew. And get a ring stabbed through his ear. Unlike Vayne, his mother hadn’t shoved him inside and locked the door, so he had the benefit of doing everything on time and figuring out what faction he wanted to roll with from his distant observing. He had an idea, at least. A small smile tugged at the corner of his mouth as Danny rubbed his ear with a paw. ”I will pretty soon.”

He couldn’t help but look at Roan’s earring when he brought up how long it had been since he first got his, genuine curiosity following his inquiry. Admittedly, he knew less about what the divisions actually did more than just picking up on who was in each, to be best of his ability. The Necro Mambas were pretty easy to figure out, and it was near impossible to not cross paths with the top dogs of the Blackjack Rats gang. Speaking of, his ears perked up with a little more liveliness than he had earlier, pulling his front paws up to give a little clap. ”You’d fit in, if you, y’know....pick that.”

The Blackjack Rats. Well, Vayne's choice of division wasn't a total surprise. After all, she was a rather outgoing person, so it made sense that she'd want to join the most outgoing of the divisions. Still, Roan couldn't help the vaguely amused smile that curled briefly on his muzzle. He had half expected Vayne to want to join the Grim Rays, simply because he knew his mama talked them up so much. It was hardly a surprise that she did, considering they were her division of choice. Vayne had never really seemed like the fighting type to Roan, though. At least, not unless something really needed defending in a worst case scenario. She wasn't quite as... fiery as he knew his mama could be.

Even though he was a bit disappointed to not have a new member of the Necro Mambas on his paws, he did have to say that he approved of Vayne's choice. With his dark tail flicking back and forth behind him, Roan purred, "I have to agree with Danny. I'm sure you'd do wonderfully in the Blackjack Rats division. Plus, I'm sure uncle Michael will be overjoyed to have you." And he might rub it a bit in mama's face. He couldn't help that little follow-up thought, but he chose not to voice it. He didn't want Vayne thinking that she would cause some kind of sibling fight – even though Michael and Roxie needed very little to get into their usual playful sibling spats.[/td][/tr][/table]

See? Even Roan agreed with him, and Roan wasn’t even in the Rats. No offense to Michael of course, even though surely he’d be overjoyed. Family sharing the same division sounded like something to celebrate. His expression didn’t change, but he sort of felt a twinge of jealously deep down over that, but felt bad enough over even contemplating the emotion that he snuffed it out immediately. It was out of everyone’s control.

He found himself chewing on the inside of his cheek at the girl’s inquiry, thankful that the soothsayer had beaten him to the punch for her confirmation. ”Yep! Yeah, th-that.” He practically wheezed, avoiding direct eye contact. He was convinced that if he looked too long while her eyes were sparkling that much he might, y’know, spontaneously combust or something. Like staring at the sun.
