something in the water / joining - deimos - 01-15-2021

Cold. It was the only thing she could describe it as, her ears lowered and shoulders drawn forward, her ears pressed against her head. Trudging up the side of the mountain was, you know, kind of a pain in her butt. She almost wanted to sit down and cry, her eyes narrowed against the cold air. Her breath turned white as it curled from her nose and muzzle, before reaching up and adjusting her beanie. She turned her head as she stepped into the Frostblown's territory, her nose twitching and ears perking up a bit.

She looked back forward, before up and around at the trees. They were tall, achingly so, and it almost made her neck her as she continued to look, well, up. Her ears slowly lowered against her head again, and she opened her mouth to speak. Her voice crackled and scratched as she tried to speak. She lowered her head, shaking it slowly, before speaking again. "Is.. anyone out there?" She tried to call, her eyes looking around nervously. "I heard there were.. people out here!" Savah tried to answer, before lowering her ears again. She bit her lip.

What if there was nobody out here? Her chest started to ache, stomach turning and her breath catching. If there was no one out here, she was going to die, most likely. All she had behind her was the medical training from her aunt, and if there was none of that, she couldn't eat. She slowly sat down, the stone cold snow nipping at her skin. She looked around, rather helplessly, for help.

Re: something in the water / joining - Star Pepper - 01-15-2021

Star Pepper | 14 months
Snow Leopard | Frostblown

Star was laying on a branch not far up from where he heard a voice. Curious, Star jumped down and looked at Savah. "Who are you? He asked seeing that Savah looked cold. He could tell that she wasn't from around here. He smiled as he watched Savah.

Star sat down enjoying the feeling of the cold of the snow and ground. "I'm guessing you cold, but I'm Star Pepper and your in Frostblown territory." Star said wondering if Savah was here to join. He knew it was could but it didn't bother him one bit.

Unlike Star and far more like the stranger at their doors Xi was freezing in the open. Shaking like a rattlesnake the pitiful Jaguar trudged through the thicket and beside Star. Pink and orange orbs peered menacingly down at the unfamiliar cat. Horns peered out of their head and around a snug beanie sprinkled with frost. She looked barely old enough to be traveling around on her own. Not like Alexi really cared but still, it wasn't good to be so little in the freezing cold of The Frostblown's territory. For now, they would wait for them to answer Star's questions before adding in.

TRY TO TAKE ME DOWN
BAALAL -- NONBINARY -- THE FROSTBLOWN -- SAGE -- MEDIUM DIFFICULTY
trudge of large paws through snow drifts, dark shape striking against the snows the bound themselves to the pathways all around. green orbs the tone of jade remained barely open to account for ice-laden winds at their height. licking their lips, the beast would approach the grouping of bodies, head lowered to better hear the words spoken. standing just over six feet at the shoulder, the beast was a sight to behold, a deep navy blue cloak pinned together over their back by a crystalline set of small stone wings at their throat. blinking slowly, the sage would step forward, pinning thicket and brittle bush under paws large enough to crush a smaller animal with a careless step. nimble the five tails swinging in slow motions behind them, fuzz-covered ears standing to attention before twitching, drawing in the sounds from around the group, checking for danger.

nodding to star and to alexi, they looked down to savah, "hello, little one.", they would rumble, voice reminiscent of stone striking stone in the far off distance, deep and unsettling. looking to star, they nodded softly, "this is our home, the land of the frostblown. my name is baalal, the current sage of the group. may i ask what you are doing so far out here? the merchant's paths are mostly burdened by snow at this point of time.", they spoke in a gentle way, curious of the petite being before them. gaze taking in her state, they couldn't help but remember their own friends who had disappeared so many months ago, the zheng's gaze softening as their horn caught a shimmer of light, the thin veins of brighter green hues within it sparking to life as the growths upon their limbs took on their own faintly glowing hue. she must be scared, out here alone in the cold, "come, we will let you warm up before you question you, little one. if it's too cold, i can carry you back to our camp.", they would suggest, crouching to the ground, "we have a fair way to travel before we reach our home", they would murmur, half in vocal thought and half in stating the distance they would need to cover yet. turning their head back to star and alexi, they would give the two a lopsided grin of a sort, meant to put them at ease. they had no doubt that distrust was about to break out in the group, those who hadn't been forced by the former sage to do anything, would not be so willing to do anything now.

Her head whipped around as something dropped down in front of her. Her fur stood on end and she jumped back instinctively, lowering her front and squinting her eyes. However, as he spoke, she slowly relaxed, her fur laying back down and her body slowly standing up straight. She spoke, slowly, her bottom lip trembling light she might cry at any moment. Her breaths struggled for a long moment. "S-Savah. My name is Savah." She mumbled.

Her eyes shifted towards Alexi as they arrived, her ears lowering again. She looked towards Star, then back towards Alexi. Slowly, mumbled words fled from her muzzle in rapid succession. The adrenaline from the sudden arrival of Star fled and her instinct, when nervous, was to talk. "I like your eyes." She said towards Alexi. "They're rather dazzling and.. and I think they look like fruit. Really tasty fruit." Savah stated, looking up at the Jaguar, before looking towards Balaal as they lumbered up.

And she shrunk into the snow, as if she could get any smaller compared to the larger. Her ears settled back against her head, and as Baalal spoke, she froze in her tracks. Everything felt wildly larger then her, and the rambling soon returned, her paws shaking against the snow laden ground. "Frost.. Frostblown is rather appropriate- I'm just looking for shelter. Somewhere to stay." Her ears twitched, rotating and lowering as Balaal spoke again.

Slowly, she nodded. Something about their speech caused her to relax, just a bit. She gave a tilt of her head to the other two as she paused, before leaping up onto Balaal's back gently, her tail twitching and her body lowering down against Balaal's cape. The small domestic feline looked down at the snow from up here, and loafed herself on Balaal's back. "I'm ready."

Re: something in the water / joining - private - 01-16-2021

Interest lightened their patched muzzle with a half-smile as Baalal arrived. Always one to be the kind, gentle giant it seemed. Yeah, it was an asshole thing to just leave the kid in the snow, but who were they to really step in. Alexi wasn't kind, nor were they gentle. They get what they need and leave. Just like your bum of a father. Immediately Xi snapped back into the conversation, unwilling to contest within their own tumultuous thoughts. Savah hm? In Alexi's opinion, that was a nice name, but the kids' shiftiness made them question things. Why on earth are they out here in the cold alone, acting like they just ran from the scene of a crime?

Maybe that was a bit overdramatic to think, but Sevah sure was a nervous wreck. However, Xi's opinion was soon changed, waxed away with her compliment even if it was fruity [badum tss]. The Jaguars one true weakness - being flattered. Their half-grin bloomed into an awkward fangy smile and a bashful flutter of lashes. Cheeky with the praise, Xi responded in kind, "Thank you, my mother passed her eyes onto me. It's the one thing from her I appreciate." Well damn, fishy or not, they sure know how to make an impression! A chuckle and additional comment followed "Gotta say never heard anyone compare them to fruit before ."

The gleeful air faded soon after as Sevah fell into another fit of fear. Quirking up a brow at the odd behavior, they watched as she climbed aboard Baalal blithering on. Quaintly Xi cleared their throat and replied softer in tone than before. "Well, Sevah, you'll be happy to know we're not the kind to turn a new face away. Especially someone scared and alone in the chill of the snow." Since she'd done them the kindness of a compliment, they could try and be a little sympathetic to Sevah. "So - Welcome to The Frostblown! My name is Alexi an Ashfoot here."

Star smiled seeing Baalal and looked at them for a moment before looking back at Savah. He still smiled. Well then, welcome, I'm Star Pepper. He said before listening to the feline on Baalal's back, then a though of the two youngest of his siblings. "What Alexi said is true, we wouldn't." Star added looking between Savah and Alexi.

TRY TO TAKE ME DOWN

shelter was never something that they would deny another, not with the cruel nature of these mountains. countless were the bodies buried under the snow and ice, locked there by layers of years of melt and freeze. feeling the weight of her smaller body settling onto their broad back, would the sage climb to their paws once she had affirmed that she was settled, "welcome to the frostblown, savah.", they would rumble softly as they glanced to alexi and star, smiling as the other two greeted her. taking the lead back along the paths, they kept their pace and gait as steady as they could manage to avoid jostling her from her perch. humming softly as they went, "you're looking for somewhere to stay? if you're comfortable with telling me your backstory i wouldn't mind listening to you", they would eventually speak into the silence.

curious was the molly, even more so was her story as to why she was here. they couldn't blame her for her fear of those here, a majority of them were of great height and mass, more or less accustomed to the snows but it wouldn't take long for the smaller female to hopefully get settled in. "when we get to camp, we'll set you up with a home to call your own - though it may need some repairs but ah, i think that all of the hovels need repairs, including my own.", they would give a low chuckle, amused by alexi's reaction to her comment on their eyes.

As she climbed onto Balaal, she offered a sheepish tiny smile towards Xi. She had been legitimate about it- they looked like fruit, the rind of an orange, the reds and pinks of a grapefruit. Intense and swirling in color, something locked behind them- whether it flavor of sweet or sour, it wasn't up for her to reveal. "That's.. what they look like to me. Pretty colors." She replied quietly, settling into her new spoke. Balaal was far warmer than the snow anyways.

She offered them a weak smile. "Thank you, Xi. I appreciate th- that." Her stutter was still going to be a problem, of course, but she looked just a bit more relaxed at the reassurance. Her eyes shifted towards Star Pepper, giving them a tiny little nod. "Thank you, all of you. You've been too kind." She stated, her chest slowly giving free of the tension that bound it. However, as they started off, and Balaal spoke, slowly her ears lowered and her eyes shifted to the side. "I'm.. I'm just trying to get away from some bad people."

She lifted her eyes ahead, the emerald green depths dull for a long moment. "They.. ah. I don't want to say anymore, sorry." She cut herself off, biting on her lip, and lowering her eyes. The sharp taunt and screams were nothing she could deal with right now, so Balaal's next sentence was a welcome distraction. "I would.. really appreciate that. I haven't had my own space in a long time- m-maybe ever." She offered with that weak, fearful smile.

"ah, welcome. sorry for the drop-in visit. my wings were locking up", she would chuckle as she moved to join the party of bodies, cautiously sniffing her from afar. was she the one she was looking for? no ... sadly not.

trotting alongside baalal, she would look up, hearing the tremor of her voice, "it's alright love, you don't need to tell us your backstory. don't feel forced to do so, alright? they're a big oaf but they mean well - if anything they're more concerned about you than any part of your history.", she would murmur, giving the sage a hard glare as if to shame them, letting them know that they passed the boundry of comfort for the small molly. the two had known each other since she had stumbled across the group a few years back, and she had stayed with the group since that time. clearing her throat, she would hum softly, "ah, my manners are lacking. my apologies, love. my name's margaret ellefsen but feel free to call me margo - it's easier to yell, haha. you'll have all the space that you want, you don't have to worry about sharing it if you don't want to.", the corps member would murmur, remembering the days where she had tried to flee the screams of the dying on the battlefield. she had never been able to clean herself of that blood - she had been forced to embrace it and move past the worst of the memories in a series of haunting nightmares that would occasionally come back for her. the fearful smile that the other wore nearly broke the swordswoman's heart, her gaze soft as she looked up at her, feeling the strong urge to protect her.
