Let Mercy Come -- drawing - Ares - 12-04-2020

LET'S START A WAR!
Ares. Female. Tanglewood. Child.

Again, the child found herself alone within the confines of Tanglewood. But today she would not be as bored. She managed to gather paper and pencils of a variety of colors to take to the library, seeing it as a sanctuary. Managing to persuade a tangler to escort her over, they brought her to the Library, where she hid under an old, broken chair, with her paper and pencils laid out before her.

Taking a black pencil, she started scribbling, making vague shapes from the lines on the paper. Symbols, resembling ram horns, with several indistinguishable figures standing below them, bodies bent to the ground. When people walked by she shuffled her work under her body and hid, and then came back out and scribbled when they left.

NOTHING BESIDE REMAINS — Aurum had been visiting the library more and more often as of late, mainly as an escape from everything that was going on in Tanglewood at the moment. He sought escape in his books, and when he ran out of stories to read, he eventually ended up returning to the building once again to grab more. He was on one of these trips when he noticed the scent of Ares on the air, causing the lion to temporarily pause. His one eyed gaze moved around, looking for the child as he moved through the library. When he eventually caught a flash of the girl underneath one of the nearby chairs, he found himself chuckling. Lowering his body to the ground, the angel cleared his throat softly before speaking, "Hello there, little Ares... what is it that you're doing under here?" He would've asked about what she was drawing, but he hadn't yet caught sight of the art supplies that were hugged close to her body. — OF THE MAN WHO WAS BORN AND DIED A KING.

AND IT'S HALF PAST THREE

elsweyr — tanglewood — three years
If she had to be honest with herself she did not often find herself visiting the library. When she did it was all sorts of confusing and she couldn't understand the things that she looked at unless it was simply pictures. The books were something that she guessed were like an acquired taste and she didn't seek to acquire it. Reading was not something she found a high priority on her list of things she actually needed. The only reason why she was here now was because she was looking for Ares. The child was new to Tanglewood and taken in by the community. She was small and young,  easily shaped to the world around her. She had no idea of her history or past and she wanted to make sure she was safe. So she had been looking, following her scent as easily as any mother would their child. Her maw curled slightly and she paused there at the library before she finally entered the place.

Her eyes spanned the library before she noticed that Aurum was talking to someone. Someone hidden beneath a chair and she crept forward, poking her head around the lion to get a look at what was going on. It appeared that Ares was working on something but she had no real idea of what. All she could see was ram horns and that was it. "Is she drawing? Telling a tale? This one likes stories." It seemed perhaps that it was something important. Maybe to do with her past.

The small child looked at Aurum, slowly moving her artwork out from under her body, along with the pencils. "Uh.. Drwawing..!" The joy in the child's voice was clear-cut as she showed her scribbled work. She smiled widely at Els, "They're fawming." Some of the figures seemed to be rejoicing, holding a mass of something in their arms and holding their arms up in the air.

NOTHING BESIDE REMAINS — It was of no surprise to Aurum that Elsweyr soon showed up after him, considering the cheetah's connection to young Ares. While the angel knew that Els didn't care much for reading – that much was evident from how she only enjoyed picture books – she did care for Ares, and wherever the girl went, the warrior was soon to follow. He honestly found it to be pretty sweet, considering Ares very much did deserve someone to watch over and protect her, and Aurum didn't really want to be alone in doing so. He already took care of so many children on his own, and while he loved them all dearly, it did happen to take a bit of a stressful toll on him over time. With Elsweyr's help, it felt as though that weight was significantly lessened, something he would have to thank her for at some point. Later, when all of them actually had a chance to breathe without worry of everything crumbling down.

Shaking that thought off for the moment, the former proxy refocused his attention on Ares, slowly nodding before he spoke, "Drawing...? Oh, I see. Well, that's very impressive. I was never much of an artist when I was a cub... think I just didn't have the talent for it. Although you clearly do." He looked down at her various sketches, taking in what the child had said they were doing. Farming? That was what he had to assume Ares was referring to. Head tilted to one side, Aurum questioned, "What is it that they're holding up, in that one?" He tapped his paw lightly against the paper, being careful as to not to rip it. — OF THE MAN WHO WAS BORN AND DIED A KING.
