I KNOW WHY YOU'RE MAD AT ME, I'VE GOT DEMON EYES
& THEY'RE LOOKING RIGHT THROUGH YOUR ANATOMY

It was early morning when Diya slipped from her shared home, leaving her girlfriend and child behind. She wasn't planning on going far, simply yearning for an early morning walk, a moment to clear her head. She heard the small patter of steps and turned her head, seeing her darling daughter watch her. A chuckle and a shake of her head has her calling out "I love you, darling! Head back inside, I'll return, swiftly!" A response was given and the child returned inside, allowing Diya to have some time of her own. She began to walk away from her home, towards the beach.

Aphra often hung near Roxanne's house, trying to hear if the Officer was getting into arguments with Diya - it was rather unnerving to a lot of people and sure, it made her seem like an unhealthy stalker, but the she-cat didn't care. To her, Roxanne had been a crush and she should have known that, despite Aphra not having said anything to her. Of course, this 'crush' was nothing more than lust - but of course, the succubus didn't know there was a difference.

Aphra listened to Diya exchange words with one of her kids and snorted behind the other mother. "You're far too soft on them." She spoke, speaking louder than normal as if she were trying to get Diya's attention without wandering too close to Roxanne's home (she didn't want it to be extremely obvious she was here to spy). "Shouldn' you coddle them less? Maybe it'll help them learn." She idly licked a paw and drew it over her ear, almost as if there was nothing wrong with what she said.[glow=COLOR,1,400]✧*:・゚[/glow]

Diya closed her eyes and cursed every god that may or may not exist to strike her down where she stood. After counting to three and finding herself still there, she decided that this must be some sort of punishment. Sighing, she flicked an ear and turned to look at the other mother, a forced smile on her face. "Aphra. How good it is to see you." she forced out, a snarl already making its way onto her face. She would slowly start to walk again, towards Aphra and away from her home.

She was half tempted to ignore the bengal and go about her day, not give her the dignity of a response. But, frankly, Diya had been itching for a fight. She had been polite for far too long. "Perhaps you're just upset that my child actually listens to me. And," she paused to shake her head, walking past the other, "since when does telling your children you love them going too soft on them, hm?"

To say Aphra was wary of Diya in such a form was an understatement; the succubus knew that Diya could snap her in two if she wanted - quite literally - and yet still, Aphra found herself wanting to press her luck. Actually, the she-cat was curious if Goldenluxury would exile Diya for attacking a crewmate; surely Golden wouldn't want a crewmate that slaughtered their own among them, right? That was the whole reason Caesar was exiled, after all. A little lie here and there wouldn't hurt either, if she had to do so.

That being said, whenever Diya snarled and stalked towards Aphra, the bengal stepped backwards, her icy eyes narrowed at the polar bear. "My children listen to me." She stated with a small hiss, almost taken aback by the fact that Diya wanted to imply that her current litter wasn't listening to her. "But making them rely on you is the problem. If you loved them, you don't have to tell them that every single moment of the day."[glow=COLOR,1,400]✧*:・゚[/glow]

Distaste sat thick on the vampire's tongue as the other responded. She froze midstep as the bengal's comment registered in her mind. She tried for a few seconds to make sense of it, whirling on the other. She had planned to keep walking but, this was simply too much. Already anger rose in her chest, eyes narrowing into slits. How dare this piece of shit try to critique how she was raising her kids, to imply that what, she shouldn't remind Suite she loves her?

She would advance a single step back towards her crewmate, tail flicking behind her. "Right, right, Aphra! You're so right! How foolish I was!" The snowy feline have a sarcastic laugh, shaking her head. "What was I thinking? Letting my child rely on me! Making her comfortable and having someone to turn too when things are bad! Oh what a fool I was," she would say, holding a paw to her chest, face angled upwards as if stairing off wistfully.

"Not." Her paw slammed against the sand, blue eyes snapping to the other mother. "It's our jobs as mothers to care for our children, to comfort them and to remind them that they are loved."

This was all just a game in Aphra's mind; a cruel one, but one she believed she had the upper ground in. Children were brought into this world, whether they wanted to be here or not, and that was that. Eventually, they would grow up to be adults who could take care of themselves; Aphra was only trying to save herself from being in pain when her kids grew up and didn't need her anymore.

Because realistically, what were they relying on her for? Food? Shelter? Aphra wasn't that much of an abusive mother to deny her children those necessities - at least, not if they haven't done anything wrong in her eyes. Aphra had some sense of a moral compass, even if it was broken and twisted. She definitely wouldn't deny her young children shelter if they did something wrong, but that didn't mean she was going to provide them food or warmth if they could find those things on their own.

Aphra watched Diya's dramatic act, rolling her eyes once the other feline slammed her paw on the ground, spewing sand from the impact. "Children are just toys." She stated bluntly and in a matter-of-fact tone, as if she were in the right here. "There are some things they need, sure. Food, shelter. But comforting them and telling them that you love them?" She snorted. "What, you're just going to raise them to be insecure."

Perhaps if Aphra had a proper relationship with her mother, she would see the extreme error of her words, but alas... Her mother had been killed almost as soon as she and Fakhira were weaned; no wonder Aphra thought that having emotions and caring for your kids made them dependent on you - it was almost like she blamed her mother's death on herself.[glow=COLOR,1,400]✧*:・゚[/glow]
