you can't silence my love — return - Kian. - 08-18-2020 [align=center] Kian Ó Faoláin The sky transformed in an instant -- blinding light like none he had ever seen. Or heard, as his ears rang and the roar of raising water left him without a sense of sight, sound, or direction. Too small in his birth form to fight the waves, the Irishman had no choice to let them carry him, to hold what air he had in his lungs until he could reach the surface again. The waves still called the pirate -- the ocean had never been anything but a home to the faerie. Nothing would change for the one his people called the Tempest Prince. The sea might've taken him miles and miles -- he saw no land in any direction. Yet he could breathe, although it came in short and heavy gaps as he tried to gain his barings. Keona. He did not know which way to swim. Keona. He had to figure that out. He had to get back to his crew and family. Kian had done his part to avoid Raziel after he finally found the shore -- in a lumbering form much unlike his birth. Unluckily for his twin, he had done it well; managing to seclude himself in his quarters on the Tempest, or simply diving back into the water. Now he could feel the strength return to his body. Now, it was time to speak to his crewmates, to find his family -- make sure they were all present and accounted for. No rumors suggesting otherwise had crossed his ears. Breaking away from the waves, the massive figure of a polar bear dog bounded up towards the Capricorn Tavern, calling for one member of his family in particular. "Keona?" All the hope of his world rested in the single name. She's okay -- she has to be. All your dead end fury is not enough Re: you can't silence my love — return - roan ; - 08-19-2020 It had been some time since the name Kian had crossed Roan's mind. He wasn't sure exactly how much time, truthfully, but the last he could remember of his uncle was... when he had first introduced himself to The Typhoon as a whole. That seemed so incredibly far back now that it was almost baffling to the soothsayer, who truly wasn't anything like that overzealous boy anymore. Yes, he still harbored that same curiosity in his heart, but he was no longer so loud and enthusiastic. He had mellowed out, and been worn down by the duties of sagehood, and now the position of soothsayer. He was happy with where he was, yes, but he found himself questioning occasionally what he would be like, if he had never decided to take up the mantle of medic. Would he be happier? Really, there was no reason to dwell on it, since he had no intention of stepping down from his new position, but it did occasionally worm its way into his mind. Often when it did, the draconic feline found himself immediately heading down towards the tavern, eager to distract his brain with a game of cards. Roan had been on his way towards his oh so precious game of poker when Kian came bounding towards the tavern, causing him to pause. It took a moment for the soothsayer to connect name to body, but it all clicked into place fast enough, especially with the questioning mutter of Keona? Kian would probably be relieved to know that she was still around and safe, even if Roan wasn't sure of exactly where she was at the moment. Making his way over to where the larger male was, Roan spread his wings slightly to drag the other's attention downward, "Uncle Kian...? It's been a while..." He then glanced up towards the tavern, digging his claws loosely into the sand before he continued, "Keona is alright. She's safe, and around, as far as I know... not sure you'll find her around here, though." Although Keona did host the occasional game night within the building, Roan didn't think that she was the biggest fan of the tavern. Not that he could blame her – considering her small size, she was liable to get trampled while inside. Even after the confusion of the twins. It'd always made sense to her. Kian was da. Kian, who raised her, first on the deck of a ship, then on the sands of the Typhoon. Kian who taught her to love the ocean. Kian who always tried not to be overbearing, but always fussed anyway. Her da.He hadn't been accounted for. Not for some time. Neither had quite a few crewmates after the meteor... That hurt, but... Not as much as losing family. As losing the one who took care of her since before she could walk. It was that keeping her up sometimes, mind lingering to the waves. Her own brush with the water had been brief and dramatic. Struggling under the abrupt surge until her uncle fished both her and Salem out. Séamus too. But not Kian. Not Kian. Though he must've looked. He must've. They were family. On days the ocean lulled her, she remembered the missing piece. While the steady waves brought her a sense of peace, it brought back to the worry. The memory. The ocean... It could be just as frightening as it was soothing. Was he out there? Out where she couldn't search? It was her name that caught her ears first. Not the most common occurrence. Her brows creased. Had something happened at the tavern? The dealer frowned and began heading in that direction. Until she recognized the lilted voice and her heart stilled. "Da?" Please. Her breath remained somewhere caught in her chest but she scrambled over her paws towards the sound. Higher in the air than before. Still his. Her brother's voice ringing along. Confirmation. It was Kian and she hadn't even realized her eyes begun to sting. She may be well into independent life. The dealer. Practically an adult. By no means a child, not in some time. But she missed her dad. More than she knew how to express. "Da? Are you- are you okay? You sound... You sound taller." Her voice rarely trembled like this. Keona didn't care, shoving her face into his fur. She barely made an impact against whatever he was now. She didn't care. "You're okay?" |
