there was a moment, when jack heard the call, he knew. It was time, as the heat bore down on them all, silent couldn't have picked a better time, when all of them were already riled from the heat and dissatisfied with promise of war- just before the rest could raise their voices to question- the announcement came and jack walked with his ardent as they moved to join the battle.

between one breath and the next, the specialized necklace given to him by kydobi became a part of the mantle of his armor. water became solid around his form and the ardent took the time to build bristles of ice-like spines along his frame. the cold, always an ally, set the kodkod- into the right mindset.

ice blue eyes watching his clan, savage untested- sit ready to prove themselves; jack felt a grin along his maw, pride, excitement held close to his chest. the desire to prove himself.

it was time, to strike.

There was no bloodlust. No eagerness in the druid. Not for pain. For danger. She'd seen it before. The memory still left her breathless. The crackle of fire in her mind. It returned at the sound of Silent's booming voice, yet... It felt different this time. This time the first blow was theirs. This wasn't watching the jungle burn down or trying to comprehend the numbers of three allied against them... This was happening on their terms.

But a frightening thought made her teeth catch the inside of her cheek. To see family, clanmates, leave. What if they didn't come back? What if they got too hurt? What if they did come back but she couldn't save them? She was just one... Would her father be helping her or... Fighting? He's imperator... What do you think?

Stars. She didn't want him out there without her. But. She had a job. Aine knew she'd be a liability out there. And she didn't want to go anywhere near that swamp. The fire burning still in her mind, in the figure of a winged lion. She took a breath.

Ghostwhisper had a very odd sense of morality. Where they hailed from, they could strike down many with little a care or a feeling of deepness in their chest. They were empty on the inside - hollow, if one wanted a more accurate word. Staring into their eyes revealed the void, and the void stared right back. They were a mere speck of the power of the void, and their will had to yield to it above all else. Home had been run rampant with disease, where nobody truly was themself. Lifeless husks, where death would fare them better than to continue their life. Those who were already dead still had posed a threat. If anything, they thought - not thought - that they would be freeing those husks from a life of limbo, never able to break free.

Hearing the call to war, raised their shell from where claw had bore pencil against paper. Their wings twitched, carefully tucking the paper away. This was an order, they began to reason, but this was an order based in senselessness. The void beneath their shell yielded nothing. Their head turned, noting someone who wouldn't be leaving for battle - instead, preparing something here. An alternative, their mind prompted. Obtaining resources seemed to be the goal of the raid - nobody need ask them where they got their own from. Without being struck first, they had no reason to raise their claws to another. Not wrong. It was simply too oddly settling in their chest for them to consider for a moment longer.

Ghost scuttled off, deciding that obtaining resources of their own accord technically would not be invalidating that order.
