Hope your god can save you now
L
oud crackling of twigs and the desperate crunching of leaves sounded off like sirens in the dense forest, the moon pouring its silken light down through the tree canopy just enough to see a flicker of white. Though brief, this stark streak seemed intensely pursued by the snapping and haunted yowls of voracious predators, nipping at it's flanks with fervor.

One small nick was all that was needed.

In a sudden bright burst of light, the revolving black halo above the canine's long, slender head shifted to a terrible, unnerving scarlet, reflecting in the pearly black of it's eyes.

That was just a reflection... right?

Shifting on it's hind legs and forcing itself upwards, it managed to rebound off of a nearby tree and land ever-so-perfectly behind the small pack of hunting hounds. Teeth as pearly black as it's eyes glinted in the small moonshafts.

That red in it's eyes isn't a reflection.

Before the abyssal-like black hair on it's body could even settle, unyielding fangs sunk into the confused and dazed hounds, rending their flesh from their skeletons. It did not eat them; no, it left that for the scavengers that it so loved within it's forest.

In the darkness, the only thing an outsider would notice is that small revolving crimson halo.. and the two small orbs of the same shade.

And rest assured, it will see you before you see it.

The rocklands were an unforgiving place. There was little food to go around and the water was tainted with something evil. Cheshā stood atop a boulder and flicked an ear, looking beyond the border of the Cardinal Sect and frowning at the thriving greenery of the forest. He would make sure to leave the world dead beneath his paws. The amur leopard would make sure of it.

/sorry for weird reply im sleepy

prey being scarce was common enough place that going hungry was less of a worry to keep one up at night and more a constant companion when food wasn’t found.

Corvannis didn’t let it mind him - he only fuelled that urge into finding what scarce prey there might be for he and his even if Chesha was content to lay back as was the swordbearer’s due, Corvannis was not - was rather incapable of inactivity for too long really, the blue banked ember pulse in his veins didn’t allow it

Idleness didn’t suit War,

Fluorescent blue eyes wandered the landscape where the noise had dropped, before finding the corpses in the sparse trees, ones curiously - aside from the killing wounds - lacking in bites from a hungry maw, hm, curious - brows raising, the mutant stepped closer breathing in the scents on the wind

Food was food and the scavengers wouldn’t get these bodies when the cult needed them more - glancing around the elder brother huffed a sardonic laugh a shirt gruff ”well thanks for the free meal” to the air before he went about picking them up ready to bring back to the caves eyes still glancing around for the mysterious perpetrator that might still be nearby or on approach.

At least his usual wanderings had found results today.

He noticed his sibling go towards the woods and frowned lightly before jumping down and stalked after him, making sure to make hardly a sound as he watched his brother pick up a carcass.

"Didn't know we are carrion feeders now." Chesā rumbled slowly, sneering at the corpse and narrowing his eyes. Corvannis was perhaps a little too eager to pick it up. What if there was something wrong with it? What was the possibility of it being poisoned? What had even killed it in the first place? The swordbearer had too many questions to ask, but he knew the god of war wouldn't have any answers for him.
