With his paw healed now, Vigenere felt like a weight had been lifted off of his chest. The savannah felt free now; he could go wherever he wanted, when he wanted, without feeling pain - or having others nag at him about staying off of his paws. Although he appreciated their concern, Vigenere couldn't understand what they couldn't understand about how he just. couldn't stay still. It was frustrating to him to stay in one place for so long.

So of course the demon was patrolling the borders now, even at such an early time - the sun was starting to rise above the horizon now, and this was exactly the time he enjoyed being to himself.
