Cainhurst has spent her life living in the shadows of her 8 elder siblings, living with an old tyrant of a father, with no agency but to be pliable to his demands. Her mother took off once she was weaned, her siblings lost to the winds, staying far away from the monster their father had become. Or was it, the monster that he always was?
No one stood for her, no one protected her. Cainhurst was a small, fearful life between those jaws, the only one left to keep him company. The lack of compassion she experienced as a pup, the lack of love, made something sour somewhere deep within. She builds walls upon walls around herself in panic, in fear, in the need to keep herself safe from everyone. She's violent, impulsive, and hard to deal with. Kindness is foreign to her. Unknown and threatening. Any act of kindness or compassion towards her either ends in her pushing others further away, or outright attacking.
Her walls are easy to break down, if you take the time to notice the cracks. All hastily built, spat out lies, desperate attempts to keep distance, to keep people away from her.
Her behaviour is almost feral, habits she learned from a deeply sick and abusive father, habits she picked up on to survive. She trusts herself, and herself alone. Her traumas influence her interactions with everyone around her. It's the only way she knows how to live. She carries the weight of a lifetime of heartbreak.
