it's you versus everyone else - Grimm - 05-31-2020

[align=center][div style="font-family: arial; font-size: 11px; width: 60%; text-align: justify; line-height:120%"]Once bright the rich shade of fragmented gold, yet sodden and overburdened strands slicked down against delicate skin in present moment. Taken had been the child with the land upon which he had been deposited, left as though no other choice proved a fruitful avenue, from the watchful eye of the enlisted he found little resistance. Better may it have been if more fervour had been placed behind the duty of watch, yet such precautions seemed useless. Indeed, a little trickster capable of slipping his bonds, figurative as these may have been, the youth deemed boy for lack of a better title.

It would as such, with prior experience of past days occurring in similar fashion, no true surprise to find him burdened with a thick layer of muck.

Almost it seemed there was no child beneath the cloying sludge of drying mud dripping with each step, a trail left in his wake as forth into the town did he progress. Light the hold of ravaged sprigs, leaves and petals clinging desperately to slim stalks, ill-fated prize he had sought when behind was left his guard. Yet easy was their abandonment as large ears flicked and twitched, drawn forward as eyes settled. Round the moss hued depths, it seemed like to fall from cranium lowering as neck extended, likewise a paw sliding forth across the sodden earth.

For all the preparation performed it was of no use, loud the sudden cry that arose from lips peeled back into the sharp curl of a grin, clumsy in his haste, stumbling mess a run that nearly brought him crashing down. Righted his stance with barely enough time to halt such a dastardly conclusion to his short sprint, though of no more grace the final push off when his momentum did not prove enough. Against the earth heavy did he come down, paws slapping down upon an item that seemed red though obscured it beneath the tight press as if contained something.

"Got ya!" The joy in his voice was rather short lived, fleeing features that fell into a confused frown before the edges were laced with a growing horror. Grooves were worn into the ground as he quickly backpedalled, unbeknownst to him the pale crescent of his claws having slide forth moments before his jump. Where he once lay with only thoughts of triumph was a tail. It was decidedly unattached to the necessary anchor of a body, long fled the lizard which he had hoped to claim.

"You were far too loud." The comment slipped from Vigenere's lips as he approached the child, though his tone wasn't harsh. No, the savannah was amused by the attempt to catch the lizard - but he did think that the boy was far too loud in his attempt to hunt. Or at least, that's what Vigenere assumed the kid was going for. Vigenere lightly put his injured paw down in the ground, careful not to put too much pressure on it.

"A good hunter knows where to put their paws." He went on to explain. "Silence is key, but you also much be downhill of your prey, so that they don't smell you." Could lizards even smell things like larger animals did? Now that was something Vigenere didn't know the answer too. "Running around and slapping your paws in the mud will definitely alert your target." Though it was interesting to note that the lizard had taken off without its tail. Is that normal? Strange, but maybe it had some advantages to it.[glow=COLOR,1,400]✧*:・゚[/glow]
