DOWN FROM A HOLY MOUNTAIN && gamelia - hollows creek ! - 05-26-2020

using his strengths and advantages to help rebuild the beaches had been a great introduction to many of the pirates around. a communitive effort to build up what the meteors had brought down had proven to be a good way of meeting some others had been there just to work, keeping themselves stiff and focused on construction. holly had some decent conversation where it was offered, though, and it had made the time go by rather quickly when they came to work.

the days were catching up to him now. he still hadn't had a proper rest since coming to the island, and now the saber was suffering from a harsh headache and sore muscles. he had somehow ended up within the tavern, leaned over a window with a few scraps of food still stuck to his muzzle. the fresh air treated his headache nice, and after a few minutes he back from it and hunch over a table, taking deep breaths as he tried to ease the soreness in his forelegs with his paws.

//OOC

The disastrous meteor had brought only pain and trauma for many. The earth beneath her very feet had split in half, not only destroying the place she had begun to call home, but separating her from Diya, who had come to be her closest friend. In fact, a small part of her wondered if the way she felt was more than friendship. The candied reptile had been buried by the overhang of her porch during the chaos. Gamelia had been rescued by someone, but she was unable to remember who. Since then, she had yet to see any sign of Diya, which both worried and upset her. Hoping she was okay was all she could do.

Like many others, Gamelia was left to take refuge in the damaged tavern, and took part in repairing what could be fixed and cleaning up rubble.

On this day she sat at a table on the lower floor of the tavern, staring quietly at the hands she had clasped on its surface. Her face was creased in an unknown expression. The swirling thoughts in her mind refused to settle on one thing alone, but at the same time, it just felt like empty static.

A deep sigh brought the saddened dragon out of her trance, and she looked over to spot an unfamiliar form hunched at the window. He seemed tired and sad, like many others, and possibly hurting. Her thoughts were immediately drawn away from herself, reaching out to the primal feline with sympathy as she stood up and quietly approached.

Pausing a respectable distance short, Gamelia spoke softly. "Are you alright? You look very tired." While getting the buildings back in order were high in priority, it was equally as important for the pirates to stick together and help each other.

holly's social battery hadn't drained entirely, but it was hard to spark up a conversation when the only thing on his mind was how he was going to persist through all this. while he had acclimated to the pirate's lands for the most part, their social hierarchy was an entire different breed than what he was used to. he wasn't sure if their angered spats were in good fun or passive aggression. if their sarcasm was meant for him to take seriously or laugh at.

their mannerisms differed from citon greatly. many of these pirates were rather young or in adolescence, he would be considered a respectable soldier considering his age in comparison. yet they treated those by seniority here instead. their feats were measured in acts within their community, and not what their accomplishments against their enemies or providing food. it was... familial. something foreign to the saber, unfortunately.

when gamelia had approached holly, he wasn't quite sure how to take her in. she was awfully different from... anything he had seen. he wouldn't be rude of course. she was a lady, and to be treated with respect as such, but he couldn't help but stare at the vivid colors across her body.

"am i alright?" he murmured back in confusion. he wasn't sure if she was being genuine or setting up a punchline, an expectation set from his uncles treatment toward him. if he complained of his sore muscles she might belittle him in front of everyone in the tavern. he already felt imaginary stares on him as he formulated his reply.

"i'm doing quite alright, actually. just putting in extra work to help around." he smiled gently at the dragon, a bit distracted by the sugary scents coming from her. he hadn't faced anything of the sort before, candy more specifically. for some reason it made his nose twitch, but he thought it rude even to ask. he wasn't sure how he would react if someone asked why he smelled the way he did.

"what about you, miss? are you fairing alright? i only became conscious a few days after everything happened, so i'm not all too clear on what exactly went on." truthfully he was afraid to ask at first. it was still fresh in their minds, especially having to wake up to their damaged homes every morning. but gamelia seemed... kind in this moment. he felt comfortable asking her.
