GET SOME REST TALL CHILD | intro - Luciferr - 05-26-2020

JAIME ROUX
"vengeance is just hope with a history"
[ what’s up y’all I’m back ]

Two paws, one of solid white, the other Black and dotted with rosettes like liquid gold stopped just shy of the borders - it had taken him a bit of a walk to get here from where he’d been dropped off, something of a struggle for the child but he was in safe territory now - or so ‘grandfather’ had said when he’d left him to walk the last few stretches of land after the flight down, he’d almost asked for the guardian to accompany him, but held his tongue - grandfather was a busy dragon after all and he’d said he was still searching for survivors before he could come home.

Jaime touched a paw to the Singular scale that dangled from the thin chain on his neck in assurance, the light failing to touch the vantablack substance, before he took a steadying breath and started walking over the borderline - Mother was here and the siblings he’d been torn from and he duly wondered what they’d make of him or if his siblings even remembered they’d numbered five and not four once (he valiantly tried not to think that they might have written him off for dead, it was a reasonable reaction but he liked to think they might be waiting)

So he wondered further in, wings tucked tightly in nervous anxiety - hopefully whoever he ran into first wasn’t someone who’d hurt children even if they weren’t familiar, but with recent news who was to say.

[glow=white,1,400]I LOVE YOU, CANNIBAL QUEEN !。+゚.[/glow]
It was much harder keeping track of all her cubs or let along herding them back to safety as a tiny feline but Roxanne somewhat managed to round up a few of her cubs though to her dismay. Yet it didn't stop her from patrolling the territory over several times in hope of finding her missing cubs and thankfully, it had paid off one day. One of her cubs had returned or had been returned, she wasn't sure which was the case but she was relieved to have see them doing well. The Reaver would pick up the pace in her steps until she had drawn close to Jaime with her eyes, a smile tugging on her lips  "Jaime! You're home, my little baby!" Her whiskers twitched and it took her a moment to look at the scale that hung from a chain that clung around her son's neck. The small feline aimed to touch his forehead with her nose only to recall someone with such dark scales; Lucifrus. She hadn't seen the other in such a long time and hoped that they were well. She was grateful that he had brought Jaime home, she had grown worried.

Re: GET SOME REST TALL CHILD | intro - michael t. - 05-27-2020

Michael liked to think that he had a pretty firm handle on who his sister's kids were. There were more of them than he was really used to in a family – being born an only child – but that didn't mean he couldn't make a valiant effort. For the most part, he even succeeded. He obviously knew Roan, along with Trygve, Eulia, Margaret, Natyli, and... Jameson. Or Jaime. James? He knew that it started with a j, and he also knew that he hadn't seen the kid in quite a while. That struck a bit of worry in him, but he figured if Roxie wasn't panicking, he shouldn't panic, right? Cause that would only make things worse, and probably stress them all out more, which really wasn't a positive considering how stressful things had already been as of late. He was finally starting to recover from the events of the meteor strike, but it still felt as if a firm breeze could knock him off his feet and leave him firmly in the upsetting and unsettling position he had been in when he was first concussed.

The privateer had been out for a walk when the scent of Roxie reached his nose, causing him to lift his head and glance around. He would never turn down a chance to just hang out with his adoptive sister, and if they could walk and talk together? Even better. So, the dark furred bobcat made his way over to where the reaver was, his head tilting to one side when he noticed her interacting with someone. Someone who seemed – and looked – familiar. Making the rest of the way over, it was difficult not to see the resemblance between Jaime and his mother, down to the trademark wings Roxie's children had – although lacking the horns. Feeling his heart flutter with happiness in a way mostly unfamiliar to him, he smiled crookedly before speaking, "I... Jaime? Is that really you, kid? I haven't seen you since... hell, I don't think I've seen you since you were born." It was probably unlikely that Jaime would remember his adoptive uncle considering the circumstances, but Michael still felt happy for a part of the family reunited. Plus, Roxie's happiness was horribly infectious.

it seemed he wouldn’t have to wait long and to his pleased surprise the person he was exactly looking for - now Jaime was an oddly serious child (which one could owe to his time spent away, alone until he’d been found and then in the company of a rather solemn and serious individual himself) but all of that rather went out the window where family was concerned, especially family he hadn’t seen in such a long time - he’d have run up to her if his mum hadn’t crossed the distance quickly herself clearly pleased to find him again after so long, butting heads with a purr, Jaime’s wings flickered at his sides in happiness ”I missed you mum, I’m sorry I couldn’t get back sooner” but well the meteor had done its damage to everyone, leave alone that he’d gotten stranded afar afield - luckily he’d found a guardian angel in the form of a very large dragon.

Of course then another familiar face and Jaime perked up ”it’s me uncle!” it was good to know that the meteor hadn’t possibly taken so many of his family after he’d gotten separated - he’d worried for weeks besides going near crazy trying to find a way back before Luciferus had found him, speaking of which ”I got lost after the strike, but grandfather found me! He looked after me and got me back here” the last statement was said with a firm nod ”well He said to call him grandfather anyway, he said he practically was to everyone?” he poked the black scale hanging from the necklace ”he gave me this for good luck”

[align=center][div style="width: 45%; text-align: justify; font-size: 12pt; letter-spacing: -1px; font-family: times new roman;"]★ — Maggie was not particularly close with any of her siblings. Roan was often too busy to give her the time of day, and when he came home at night, he was always too tired to stay up any longer to play with herself or any of the rest of her brothers or sisters. Eulia wasn't around much, either, and the same could be said for Natyli. Trygve was off in the Pitt, much to Maggie's dismay. Who did that leave her with? To her dismay, the answer was often no one besides her mother and Michael, and they were both too busy and too old to play with her as well.

At the moment, Maggie found herself bored with trying to entertain herself. Instead she trailed a fair bit behind her mother. Suddenly Roxie darted in a different direction, sending Maggie into a cartoonish sprawl as she dashed in the same direction. By the time the cub arrived where her mother wound up, Roxie's nose was pressed to the forehead of an oddly familiar figure, and Michael had already arrived.

It took her several moments to recall the stranger's identity. "Jaime...? Is that you?" she wondered aloud, approaching her brother with interest shining in her lavender orbs.

[align=center][div style="text-align:justify;width:55%;font-family:verdana;"]The faintest notion of unfamiliarity behind Ahab's eyes is enough to make him feel guilt in the deepest recesses of his soul. He doesn't remember him. His own grandson. He recalls the tree hollow and the little bodies crowding for their mother's milk, and out of all the faces and names, only a few remain in The Typhoon for him to dote on, to mark in his mind as real. And the grandfather he speaks of is not him, for he holds no dragon's scale and had none to do with the return of this child - which means that Jaime forgot about him, too.

It's the same hollow feeling that comes over him when his own daughter's name will not rise to his mind. The forgetting - it makes him feel sick, both of mind and soul. Another side effect of his longsuffering past, he supposed.

Ahab forces down this bitter thought, pushes the unfamiliarity deep and replaces it with the same happiness he tries to show Roan, Roxanne, the rest of his adopted kin. It's a shallow smile, but they're used to the uncertainty - Jaime would come around to the uneasiness someday, too. "Lost," he remarks, turning over the thought in his skull. (It was, if he would allow himself the thought, yet another fault on his part for not taking a head count.) "Are you hurt? What happened to you while you were gone, hm?"

JAIME ROUX
"vengeance is just hope with a history"
everytime a new face showed up to greet him, his long held worries slowly eased because they were here - and alive! He could almost faint from the relief.

He’d spent so long lost and unsure if they were alive after the disaster - between worrying about survival anyway, but he’d never stopped trying to get home even if the worst was here - and it was a miracle that the worst of his expectations wasn’t met.

The smile on his face was genuine ”yeah it’s me Maggie” and he’d have gone to hug her - or more likely fall over trying because he’d forgotten just how tired he was now that the tension was falling away from him and the relief came crashing back in followed by the exhaustion taht had been waiting for him after everything he’d been through.

Of course then another familiar face showed up - and how could Jaime forget everyone? He’d spent his time away making sure he’d remember them because he’d get home! And see them again and also...just in case, he might find they really were gone.

”Grandpa!” because of course Jaime remembered him, if anything Jaime always remembered everyone else before himself - possibly why he’d been so thin worrying about them all, until he’d run into Luci anyway - of course the question makes him falter a little, wings shifting semi self-consciously, trying to think how best to answer that.

”the meteor - n’ I got washed out, I don’t know where to but I tried my best to get back! And I managed to get by until Grandfather found me!” he’d been proud of his desperate attempts to get by, he’d managed after all or else he’d have been dead - he shifted slightly, the wings that capped around him hid the scar but with his shifting it was somewhat visible so he gestured ”some of the islanders weren’t very nice though” he shifted ”it’s fine now though! I’m home and you’re all here! I thought- with the meteor n’ all- I didn’t- I thought it might have-“ the cub faltered seeming a lot more like his age all of a sudden but one white paw brushed at the tears in the corner of his eyes and he smiled again up at them

”but it’s okay! I’m home now! and you’re here!”

Re: GET SOME REST TALL CHILD | intro - michael t. - 05-30-2020

He was remembered. Hell, not even just remembered, but worried about. It was sometimes still difficult for Michael to process that he had actual family who cared about him now, and whether or not he was injured. He had spent his entire childhood an only kit whose parents cared little about his survival or even his existence, so now, having a sister and nieces and nephews who loved him... it was surreal. Despite his shock, the bobcat didn't hesitate in giving Jaime a warm smile of welcome, moving forward to give the youngling a little half-ug before he spoke, "Jaime... kid, I'm so glad you're back, and you're safe. Not sure who this grandfather figure is, but... if I ever meet him, I'll be sure to thank him." Thank him for getting Jaime home safe and sound, especially before Roxie fell apart from worry and stress. He knew she had enough on her shoulders for the moment with the meteor strike, her position, and Trygve's absence, and she didn't need a missing kid on top of it all. Michael would've gone out and tried to find Jaime himself, but his concussion had been keeping him inside for quite a while, and he had been spending his time helping rebuild as of late.

Even through Michael's delight at Jaime's return and the other's caring... he could still tell that the boy had been shaken up by everything that had happened. Not to mention the way that he was shifting around. The thief himself couldn't help out with any potential injuries, but he shot Ahab a short look, biting the inside of his cheek. He knew that the bear was observant enough to know when something was being hidden from him – or at least, Michael hoped that he was. Turning his blue gaze back to Jaime, he explained in the most comforting tone he could manage, "We're all alright. I hit my head on the ground during everything, and I know there have been some burns, but overall we're all alright. You don't have to worry about anybody, kid." He knew that saying that wouldn't just stop Jaime from worrying, but hopefully it would at least help with some peace in his mind. He didn't want the kid jittering around from anxiety at his young age.
