BAD IDEA && MEET & GREET - safflower - 05-10-2020

the manor had always been an intimidating in size to safflower, preferring to stay in one of the guest houses instead. while he did appreciate the buildings multiple amenities, he couldn't shake the feeling of being so... small. just going up a single flight of stairs made him breathless, and trying to find anyone that was tall enough to bring a book down or push a ladder was just wishful thinking in the massive space.

the guest house had everything he needed. the books he liked. his little knickknacks and collections, and of course a warm bed to retire to at the end of the night. it was pleasant living as a knight, not much different than when he still lived with his mother and sister. they all survived just the same, only this time there were bigger allies to help keep him fed when he felt too lazy to hunt.

he still would return to the manor out of habit, though. just to observe and check on how the other knights were. he wouldn't go out of his way exactly, but simply... people watch. unfortunately they had been cut short when another knight approached, relaying a message that he was responsible to hold...

a meet and greet.

safflower sighed, nodding his head. he stood up and padded out of the manor and down the cobblestone paths, announcing the minor event repeatedly until he reached the gardens.

safflower rose a tree root into a patch of sun and hopped onto it, letting the rays warm his back as he forced himself to at least try and enjoy this. "right. everyone, we have some new and old faces that have yet to say hello and all those nice things. it's time to formally introduce ourselves! your name, where you are from, some fun facts about you i guess. i'll start."

the tom cleared his throat a bit dramatically before continuing. "my name is safflower; i am a knight here. i'm not from the knights of concord but i've been here long enough to practically have been- my horse's name is kyte, she's the old red mare that only lets you pet her for sugar cubes. ah... i collect snow globes and i don't know how to swim."

he finished curtly, his shoulders relaxing as the attention was no longer on him.

HUNG PICTURES OF PATRON SAINTS UP ON MY WALL TO REMIND ME THAT I AM A FOOL. TELL ME WHERE I CAME FROM, WHAT I WILL ALWAYS BE: JUST A SPOILED LITTLE KID WHO WENT TO CATHOLIC SCHOOL
Aurum knew that he was a bit of an odd case when it came to the Knights of Concord. He had only been there a few days, and he was a man of two lives, to be honest. He had introduced himself simply when he had first arrived, explaining that he was from Tanglewood, but had then been welcomed in as a dual member. The concept of dual membership wasn't new to the lion, who in technicality was still considered an honorary member of The Typhoon, but it was still all very new, adjusting to being in a new group again. It had been a very long time since he had been a newcomer, learning the traditions of an unknown land, so on his now frequent trips between the manor and the swamp, he often found himself contemplating this. The lion had even been thinking about it as he lingered outside of the manor, considering whether or not he should claim a room for himself. Probably not, considering he had an entire house in Tanglewood and had to go back and forth often, but it would also be more convenient than needing to search out a random empty room every time he wanted to stay the night. He had been pondering this question when Safflower went past, the somewhat familiar male announcing that he was going to have a meet and greet. Intrigued, the lion found himself up and on his paws before long, moving after the other.

Once he found his way to the small group now gathered in the gardens, Aurum found himself a place to sit, long tail curling casually around his paws as he looked at those gathered. There were a great deal of unfamiliar faces, along with a few familiar ones, such as Safflower himself. He had seen the other at his joining, although he hadn't learned much info about him then. He supposed that this was his chance, and listened intently as the other opened the meet and greet. Once Safflower was done, Aurum offered him a little smile, glancing around to see if anyone else wanted to go before he offered his own Introduction, "My name is Aurum, and I suppose that I'm a knight as well. I originally hail from a pride that no longer exists now, but my true home is Tanglewood. I have a dual membership both in Tanglewood and here, and I serve as the second in command there. As for interesting facts... I have six children, and these wings I have actually mutated many months ago, and I wasn't born with them." He lifted one of his golden and red wings for emphasis, a little chuckle leaving him.

Re: BAD IDEA && MEET & GREET - icarus. - 05-11-2020

The tabby tom often finds himself lingering within the manor; the moors are wonderful and wild and vast, but the manor is equally grand to behold as any of the rolling hills. Icarus likes the imposing structure of brick, shrouded by fog in the early mornings, he likes the grand staircases and echoing halls, he likes the scents ancient oaken banisters and dusty leatherbound books, likes the crackling of his fireplace at the far east wing. It's all just so very... romantic. Like it had jumped right from the pages of one of his novels, pouring forth from spilled ink and bleeding onto the wispy uplands. He rather enjoys thinking of it that way, every blade of grass swaying in the wind another broad stroke of his imaginary pen.

Still, the midday sun beckons him into the open air, with horses to tend to and other knightly duties to fulfill. And then there is Safflower's call, meeting already-pricked ears and bringing him to pause in his tracks. He turns, pads towards the duo, and with a silent dip of his head he settles. Their names are already familiar — they two had greeted the lion when Aurum had first appeared at their border, after all — and nevertheless he listens closely, trying to remember their words. Emerald green eyes glitter with a brilliant curiosity, and yet there is a quiet thoughtfulness that lingers beneath those verdant pools. It flits across Aurum's wings as he speaks (so that's how he'd gotten them), but the other's statement leave perhaps more questions than answers. More thoughts whirl through his mind and then suddenly there is a quietness. This must be his cue — an ease smile falls across his maw, effortlessly radiant like the rising sun.

"Icarus," he offers, a warm simplicity to the introduction. "I'm from many places, but mostly nowhere." It's a bit cryptic, he'll admit, and still it's the only way he knows how to describe his origins. The golden tabby was born and raised belonging to the wilds and the wilds alone, despite various temporary homes of which the Knights of Concord are only a stop on a long list. It isn't to say that he intentions of leaving — he likes it here, maybe more than many of the groups he'd previously settled in — but he's never been one to resist the itch in his paws whenever it inevitably returns. For now, at least, he remains. "As for facts..." Icarus pauses in brief thought, "Well, I like to read and stargaze. Oh, and my horse is Aethon. Feel free to stop by my room if you ever want to talk over some tea." The last bit is added to no one in particular, though there's a sincerity to his tone that suggests he'd be happy to have any takers. There's still an old teapot above the fireplace that he'd been meaning to return to the kitchen; it can wait a little while longer, he supposes.

He waits to see if anyone else will join their little group, tail twitching. Silence follows and his head tilts, gaze turning to Safflower. Apparently it doesn't matter how much the other tom wishes to keep from the spotlight, for Icarus never lets a silence linger long. "How'd you get into collecting snowglobes?"

Despite the way Gordon acts, the small she-cat rather liked being around people. For her, it was more of a comfort thing - if people were around, this meant she could be protected. She liked being hidden behind her larger clanmates, mostly hanging around their shadow. But despite this, Gordon was a personable she-cat. Hearing news of someone call for a meet-and-greet in the garden, the little munchkin made her way over.

The flowers eased her nerves. Gordon followed behind Icarus, stopping every so often to admire the little flowers that had been planted in the garden. They're so pretty... But right now was not the time to sit and admire nature; right now was time for a meet-and-greet. Which... were the bane of Gordon's existence, even if she liked being around people. She never knew what to say about herself; what if people judged her? What if they decided they didn't like her based on the fact she gave?

Gordon waddled to take a seat next to Icarus, since he was the only one she had formally met before. She listened to him speak, ears pricked. Stargazing! She liked stargazing too, even if she didn't know a lot about the stars. She took note of how Icarus and Safflower mentioned horses. Did every knight get a horse? Were they supposed to? Gordon shuffled her paws, realizing it was her turn next. "Uh... my-my name is Gordon Cipher." She squeaked, ears flattening in embarrassment as a couple of NPCs turned to face her. "I-I used to be apart of Sunhaven and Th-The Ascendants, but they're not... I don't think they're around anymore." Or at the very least, she hadn't been able to find them. "Um. Interesting fact..." She trailed off, biting her lip slightly as she tried to figure out what to say. "I, um... I used to be a semi-high position in The Ascendants, and a high position in-in Sunhaven." She hoped that counted.[glow=COLOR,1,400]✧*:・゚[/glow]

Re: BAD IDEA && MEET & GREET - safflower - 05-13-2020

safflower was particularly interested in aurum and Gordon, considering they were new bloods in the knights. while the tom wouldn't say it was rather boring seeing the same faces around, it did keep things interesting when someone unknown approached. for aurum's case was his appearance and rather intense story from the meteors. gordon was truly unknown to saff, unavailable when she arrive he would guess.

the tom's eyes widened as aurum described his wings, nodding slowly. he couldn't help but chuckle when he mentioned his children. six was... quite a bit in his eyes. his mother seemed overwhelmed with just him and his twin. he wondered if they were still in the tanglewood place with him or grown up now.

icarus' following introduction left him grinning smugly. so vague just like his own. safflower couldn't pinpoint the forest he was raised on any map if his life depended on it. it was just... there. earth that kept them fed, sheltered and safe.

his tail fluffed up as icarus mentioned his collection, his whiskers twitching. "ah, well... there were a few in my guesthouse when i first came here. then there were a few others around the empty rooms in the manner... haven't found a new one yet. been a couple months since i looked." they were peaceful little plastic and glass terrariums. safflower would use the falling glitter to breathe with and calm himself down when he had to.

as gordon finally came next, safflower nodded his head slowly. he appeared understanding, but internally her stuttering was like claws on stone. she can't be like this all the time- how does anyone talk to her longer than five minutes?

"wow! so interesting, all of you. i couldn't imagine having wings, or knowing constellations, or having responsibilities further than feeding kyte. one more question: what has brought you to the knights? all answers are valid answers, i came here initially because i needed food and a roof over my head. cav let that happen, and now its been two years since."

If Gordon was able to hear Safflower's thoughts, she likely would have left the scene right than and there. Her stammering was something she didn't like and didn't quite understand why she talks that way, but it made her sound insecure and indecisive - which... doesn't entirely a lie. Luckily for Saff (or unluckily, given his thought of her), Gordon didn't hear his opinion of her.

As for why she came to the Knights...? Well. That was a simple answer, if not something Gordon was embarrassed about. "I-I just didn't want to be apart of another big group," She admitted, realizing how stupid and selfish that sounded. Safflower's reasoning was understandable and was partially a reason for Gordon as well, as evident by the fact she seemed to cling to others, but it was mostly due to her previous groups no longer around and her afraid of joining a large group and having responsibilities thrown on her again. At least with a smaller group, if she were to somehow be promoted for whatever reason, thing should be more manageable. Or that's what she believed, anyway.[glow=COLOR,1,400]✧*:・゚[/glow]

Re: BAD IDEA && MEET & GREET - icarus. - 05-15-2020

The tom shoots Gordon a quick smile upon her arrival, glad to see the other apparently settling in well enough. No one here is actually an entirely new face, he realizes, but Icarus doesn't mind — he thinks it must be a good sign that he's already getting around the clan well enough, and he's always interested in learning about those he's already been acquainted with regardless. Whiskers twitch with thought as she mentions Sunhaven and the Ascendants; curious names, albeit ones he hardly recognizes, though it makes sense considering her note about their not being around anymore. Even curiouser. Impressive that Gordon had been a high position in both, however — he'll have to make not to inquire about the groups at another time. Then there's Safflower's answer to his previous query; so he'd simply found then lying around the manor? Icarus nods contemplatively. He makes a note to keep an extra eye out for any snowglobes the next time he explores the grand estate's many corridors, but for now he lets it go as the other male moves on.

He feels another smile spread across his lips at Safflower's next prompt — it's certainly a good one, for he hardly knows how to answer. Icarus pays attention to the others first, brows lifting and green eyes growing round at the asker's own response. The feline himself has been around the Knights for a few moons now, just enough to feel fully used to the way things are run around here, but two years is more than respectable. Gordon is next, and he finds himself nodding idly in understanding. He's been a part of plenty of groups, big and small, though why here is a question he fears he has no proper answer to. The golden tom has a tendency to go wherever the breeze takes him, so it's hardly a surprise that he'd wound up on the windswept moors. He hums thoughtfully before finally answering, "Well, I really just joined out of curiosity. I really stumbled upon the border, after all, but I'm glad I stayed."

HUNG PICTURES OF PATRON SAINTS UP ON MY WALL TO REMIND ME THAT I AM A FOOL. TELL ME WHERE I CAME FROM, WHAT I WILL ALWAYS BE: JUST A SPOILED LITTLE KID WHO WENT TO CATHOLIC SCHOOL
What has brought you to the knights? It was certainly an interesting question, albeit a slightly predictable one when it came to a meet and greet. What had brought him to the Knights of Concord, when it seemed as though he had a perfectly good deal back home? The question caused the lion to pause for a moment, his paw tapping against the ground in thought as he flicked his tail in greeting to Gordon. She hadn't been present for his joining, and was thus a new face to him. Sunhaven and the Ascendants? The groups sounded familiar, although the familiarity was far off, and fuzzy. He was fairly sure he had never interacted with either group, both being before the time when he had been part of Tanglewood, and instead had been stuck in his family pride. Despite this, he could remember the names from the whispers of various NPCs within Tanglewood, as well as from when they fell from the muzzles of some of the older members, keen on reminiscing. He almost felt bad for Gordon in that moment, watching her with his one blue eye. He couldn't imagine the group he loved just being gone, and not existing anymore. If Tanglewood ceased to exist... it would be like his heart ceased to exist.

With all of this in mind, Aurum turned his gaze back to Safflower, ready to answer the question asked of him. He was sure his answer would be a bit more complex than the others that had already been said, but that was okay with him. After all, what was wrong with a little bit of sentimentality? Shifting in place, the lion rumbled once Icarus was done, his one eye gleaming in the light of the garden, "I ended up in the knights because... I suppose I needed an escape. Not that I intend to be lazy or not help around here, but... in Tanglewood. I have so many responsibilities upon my shoulders. I'm the proxy, I've got a family, I've got friends to watch over... I love all of that, but it can get to be so unbearably stressful at times. It felt like being somewhere new would be good for me. Give me a new perspective on things, you know? Maybe that's a little odd, but... it's honestly why I'm here." Tanglewood would always be his home, but he couldn't deny the stresses it occasionally caused him, especially with the recent losses they had suffered.

Re: BAD IDEA && MEET & GREET - safflower - 05-20-2020

safflower nodded in understanding to each one of them, taking each response with consideration. not that it really meant anything to him, but it was interesting to hear why the knights had been a choice for some. gordons's was a bit... depressing, but notable. he had never heard of either groups before, but they sure sounded important if she was a high rank in both.

was.

aurum had his own set of duties to a differing clan, mentioning the knights as an escape for him. "like a vacation?" he chuckled, primarily to himself, before hopping down.

"thank you all for attending! that's all we have time for today, hope to see you all around again." he spoke quickly as he rushed passed them, hoping to quickly return to doing nothing for the rest of the day.
