[align=center][div style="width: 51%; text-align: justify; font-size: 10pt; letter-spacing: -1px; font-family: georgia;"]In all of his time in Tanglewood, Selby has never had the pleasure of hosting weekly tasks. He’d never been asked and he’d never offered. Well, time to change that, especially considering that no one had volunteered to do so yet. He wasn’t quite sure that he’d be good at it, but since he’d been encouraging his children to try new things, it only seemed appropriate to take his own advice.

Lingering at the base of the statue, the sawbones cleared his throat. “Would anyone care for a task?” he called out into the town, turning his head a bit to see if anyone might come crawling out of some unseen hiding place. He sat down, patiently awaiting arrivals.

HUNG PICTURES OF PATRON SAINTS UP ON MY WALL TO REMIND ME THAT I AM A FOOL. TELL ME WHERE I CAME FROM, WHAT I WILL ALWAYS BE: JUST A SPOILED LITTLE KID WHO WENT TO CATHOLIC SCHOOL
Weekly tasks. At some point he really needed to host these himself, feeling bad that he had gone so long without doing so. Despite this, he was pleased to see that it was Selby hosting them this time. He felt at ease around the other, especially ever since he had gotten together with Moth. Moving over slowly, the lion cleared his throat and sat, long tail wrapping around his paws, "I'd like a task please, Selby."

Oh, how the tables turned. But in a good way. Any occasion he got to see Selby was good. Not just good, but great. Great enough to get his pulseless heart fluttering within the confines of his cracked ribcage, great enough to make him feel just a little less cold.

Maybe that's why there was an uncharacteristic bounce to the poltergeist's limp, a thin smile wobbling precariously on chapped lips. His hazel eyes focused on the beacon, the one he could call a father without cringing; love really was a strange thing. Months ago, he would have never considered approaching for any sort of task, finding no worth in his actions. Now his entire world had flipped right side up again.

Situating himself adjacent to the proxy -- still granting Aurum a cautious radius with a sideways glance -- Beck found his mouth tugging itself into a grin, razor-blade teeth on amiable display. "Hi, Selby," rasped his customary greeting, his stump of a tail softly wagging. "Got anything for me?"

Re: cats and dogs - weekly tasks - Alice - 04-21-2020

Alice was still feeling rather sleepy after waking from her nap. Clearing her chest with a wet cough, the kitten wiped her maw before approaching. A task sounded like something useful and she was down for that. "I would like one please." something other than being lazy all day long. She hated that her body often told her to sleep. The orange and white cat would rather be getting stuff done.

Weekly tasks seemed to be yet another creation of clan life, many of which he had not yet partaken in. Perhaps it would be interesting to ask for one, if only for the amusement of hearing what exactly Selby would task him with. That in mind, the tabby would approach the group before uttering, "I'd like one as well."

Trailing after his sister rather anxiously, Ivan made his own appearance to obtain his weekly task. He was immediately reminded of the last task that he had been given. He completed it overdue, of course, but he did get it done. It was a difficult task for Ivan to do, and he recalled the tiny wooden box that now proudly protected all of his little baby teeth. The young cat's tongue swept over his new fangs, feeling proud of himself even though he knew that it had not happened because of any volition of his own conscious. Nature was beautiful like that, he supposed. Maybe that was one thing his heart could find solace in.

"Please may I have one?" Ivan asked his father, sitting down on his bony haunches and curling his tail over his paws.

[align=center][div style="width: 51%; text-align: justify; font-size: 10pt; letter-spacing: -1px; font-family: georgia;"]Soon enough, people began to arrive. Aurum was the first to arrive, of course, and he subtly tipped his head in thought trying to think of something. “Aurum... you should create a scrapbook and show it off. Express yourself.” With newfound parenthood, Selby was certain that new memories were being created all the time. He might appreciate having it later down the line.

Beck was the next to arrive, and his lips curled up as his son approached. Something to help him with his mental health. Though he had gotten much better, there was always room for improvement. “Beck, make a list of everything that makes you happy. Big things, little things. Everything. Even if you think it’s stupid.”

Another child of his. Alice would need something that wouldn’t be very physically intensive, but he didn’t want to give her something insignificant in case it seemed like he was simply placating her. “Hm... Alice, make a pillow fort. The biggest one you possibly can.”

Alaric was next, and Selby thought carefully. He did not know the male well at all, but he knew that he had been around a lot lately. Something to get to know him a little? “Alaric, make a modern art sculpture. It can be made out of anything and everything. Go crazy.”

And for now, Ivan was the last to approach. “Thank you for your manners, Ivan,” he praised immediately, wanting to encourage the behavior. Thinking back, perhaps getting him to interact with his bird a little would be a good idea? “You should try teach your bird a trick. Even if it doesn’t work, I think you should give it a shot.”
