It was a difficult sort of anger on top of that, one nearly impossible to describe to an outside party. Whether it stemmed from negligence in his youth, the recent substance abuse, or unresolved grief (better yet, an unholy combination of all the above), it was there and it was ugly and he hated it. Especially now, considering his newfound fatherhood. After adopting Beck and siring a litter with Moth, he’d been forced to examine his relationship with the reclusive tabby. He certainly didn’t want to repeat his mistakes. More than that, though, he wanted his children to have a grandfather. Conditions would have to be met, of course, and Selby sincerely doubted his father’s ability to meet them, but it seemed unfair to not give him a chance at all. So here he was again. Taking the first step. Again. The sawbones stared at the door for a long moment before offering two quick knocks to the wooden surface. No turning back now. Hopefully it went well. |
