I BITE BACK // HUNTING PATROL - melantha - 05-07-2018

[align=center][div style="max-width: 600px; text-align: justify; font-family: verdana; font-size: 9pt;"]Lead a hunting patrol? Out of all the tasks Harrison could have given her, this one is probably the most forgiving. However, the young huntress is not taken by the idea of joining together with a bunch of idiots to do a task which she can easily complete on her own, in probably a lesser amount of time, too. Why must she collaborate with others when she is more efficient individually? It certainly does not take a pack of Snowbound residents to hunt and kill a couple of rabbits. Chiseled muscles ripple beneath a sleek pelt of tempered gold as Melantha stalks across the barren tundra--a beautifully plain masterpiece of destruction. She is perfectly built for strength and stealth. Her appearance allows her to fade into the scenery of almost any environment. Her senses allow her to be a successful predator in almost any habitat.

Melantha is, by nature, a solitary huntress, and it annoys her that she much share her favorite pastime with a bunch of random people. But she was given a job to do, albeit by a tiny kitten named Harrison, and she will do it regardless of her personal feelings. Mel does not want to disappoint the child. Besides, it's not like conducting a hunting patrol is hard. She just doesn't want to do it. Grumbling under her breath, the battle-scarred wildcat slows to a halt outside the main entrance to the tunnels. Her expression is extremely unenthusiastic, long serpentine tail swishing behind her in irritation. "If anyone wishes to join me on a hunting patrol, you have five minutes to make up your mind and then I'm leaving," Melantha is normally just cold, but today she is in a particularly rare form. She's been very homesick recently, and it affects the amount of sleep she gets. And a sleep deprived Melantha is not someone to hang around for long.

[align=center][div style="borderwidth=0px; width: 55%; color: black; line-height:115%; text-align: justify;font-family:arial;"]A hunting patrol? That was a thing? Huh, it made sense, he supposed. These guys had to eat somehow, though he usually took to hunting on his own time. Either that or he mooched off of Jacob's pasta. It was always nice to catch a fat, juicy mouse once in a while though. Right now, he wasn't quite feeling up to the task. "Y'know I would tag along, Toots, but I'm pretty comfortable right here." The tuxedo tom replied to Melantha, having been sitting up against a wall and splayed out in a lazy fashion.

A few seconds later, he checked his paw as if he were wearing a watch and commented, "'n look at that — that took me 'bout three seconds." He poked at her, referring to how she chose to gave them all a whooping five minutes to decide whether or not they wanted to go. The answer was pretty obvious for him, as he'd probably get quite the cold-shoulder from Melantha if he even considered it. It was clear that the mountain lion didn't like him, but would that stop him from trying to get a rise out of her? No. That never stopped him before, after all.

Re: I BITE BACK // HUNTING PATROL - london r. - 05-08-2018

Hunting was something that London was acthappy surprisingly capable of doing. She had had to live all alone for months, with no one to depend on but herself, so the girl had taken to learn the basics rather quickly. Better kill an innocent creature than starve, even if it seemed selfish. But that was also why she had always left cheese out for the mice and seeds for the birds. She wanted to make sure she was helping those creatures of the lower levels of the food chain so that she did not need to feel so guilty for every life that had ended at her paws. Actually, it would be a good idea to start doing that again now that she lived here. It would only be respectful for the ecosystem to nurture and ravage the little guys.

Melantha's call was what had caught the albino's attention. It seemed like a nice way to stretch her limbs a little, rather than being huddled up within the warmth of the cavern. Besides, I could be a lot of fun. She had yet to actually hunt with a partner before, so this would be a new experience for the girl. "I'm in, if you'll have me." she chirped, a simple smile upon her lovely visage. Usually violent acts such as this did little to help excite her, and yet this time it was somehow different. She found herself attempting to count down the minutes left until they began, how peculiar was that?

The kit would be lying is he said he didn't want to watch the adults hunt. The kit made his way over and smiled at those gathered, though he was looking over at Melantha mostly. "Can I watch you hunt?" He asked, smiling innocently at her in expectation of her answer. Yes, he had subtly been planning on asking her if he could watch, it was one of the main reasons why he had given her the task of assembling a hunting patrol. He was a clever one, that Harrison.
