Aurum had noticed recently that there was a new member in Tanglewood. That in and of itself wasn't strange, but what was interesting was that this new member had wings. The proxy had wings, yes, but he didn't have wings like Evarhi. No, where Evarhi's were wide and draconic, Aurum's were light and feathered. Despite this, the angel knew that both sets of wings would carry both of them just fine. He had found himself wondering, however, if Evarhi knew how to use his wings. Evarhi was only a boy, and although Aurum's wings had developed later in life, it had been a steep learning curve for him to learn how to fly properly with them. A curve that had only grown even more steep when Aurum had lost one of his eyes, knocking off his depth perception considerably. He had eventually adapted, but he had spent several days after the Beck incident struggling to regain the usual casual nature of flight, fighting against the way his mind perceived the world slightly wrong. Hopefully Evarhi wouldn't have any such worries, but Aurum also felt as though it would be good to be prepared. Flight could be infinitely useful, not only for getting around quickly, but also getting away from danger quickly. A skill that was very useful for a boy such as Evarhi.
#psychosocial. So, once Aurum had regained his ability to shift into his winged lion form, he had gone to seek out Evarhi, asking around to figure out where the other had decided to settle. There were many empty houses still within Tanglewood, so it really could've been anywhere. When he eventually figured out where the other was, he made his way there slowly, stretching out his wings and preparing them for the potential exercise of a full lesson. Raising a paw, the proxy knocked against the door he had been directed to, rumbling softly as he did so, "Evarhi? You in there? It's Aurum. I was wondering if you knew how to fly with those wings of yours... and if you didn't, I figured I'd offer some lessons." That was simple enough, and to the point, which seemed like the kind of communication someone like Evarhi would appreciate. It wasn't really surprising for Aurum, being greeted by a negative reaction from Evarhi. Although he hadn't seen much of the boy just yet, their first encounter hadn't exactly made a stellar impression. Yes, perhaps Beck had been a little reckless in scaring the kid his first day in, but Evarhi didn't need to react with violence. It didn't matter that Beck hadn't been hurt thanks to his status as a poltergeist – the intent had certainly been there. Despite this, Aurum also knew that Evarhi was merely a boy, and he probably had a lot of growing to do. Because of this, he chose not to be too harsh on him, even now. Instead of responding with his own hostility when Evarhi opened the door, Aurum just smiled, his one blue eye twinkling. Head tilting to one side, the lion explained quickly, "Evarhi, I'm glad that I managed to catch you. I had no idea where else to look if you weren't here." He then raised one of his large gold and auburn wings up before he continued, demonstrating what his point in coming had been, "Anyways, the reason I'm here is for you. I was wondering if anybody had taught you how to fly yet. And if not... I thought maybe I could help out. I know our wings aren't exactly the same, but the same basic principles are still there." He wasn't yet sure if Evarhi was reckless enough to reject his teachings and then go out and try to learn on his own, but he could only hope not. Aurum had spent a long period of his life learning to fly on his own, since his wings had developed later in life, and it hadn't been an overly pleasant experience.

Watching Evarhi try to fumble his way through an explanation almost would've been funny, if it weren't for the anger that occasionally fueled the boy's words. Aurum didn't know how Evarhi had been taught to react in such an unpleasant way, but hopefully the other would unlearn that behavior by living in Tanglewood. Especially since the angel knew that there were certain members who wouldn't stand being talked to in such a way, and he didn't want anything unpleasant happening to one as young as Evarhi. Still stretching his wings out slightly, the lion snorted before he said softly, his one blue eye focused on the serval unsuccessfully trying to lift his wings, "Yeah, I'm sure that's true. But normally you need to be able to lift your wings in order to flap them." He then met Evarhi's eyes, a warm smile upon his muzzle before he continued, "This isn't any sort of prank. I just thought you'd want some help, since you're new around here, and you're so young..."
#psychosocial.Evarhi was hardly the first young joiner that Tanglewood had ever had, but each one that arrived did have a tendency to fill Aurum with a sense of worry. Where were their parents, and how had they ended up here? Tanglewood wasn't a bad place for anyone, but surely they had family out there who missed them, right? He usually calmed his frantic mind by reminding himself that it was sometimes necessary to leave your home. After all, he had left his home for Tanglewood all those months ago, and he was better for it.
