The Tree by the Waterfall | Home Thread - Elemur - 02-13-2020

The summer sun blazes

Atop the snow capped mountains

Frozen ice now moves.

It flows through tunnels

Repeated paths along the earth

Steady flowing stream.

Quiet,  scenic landscape before

Now, the majestic roar of a waterfall.

[OOC: A "home thread" for my partner & I's warbling white eyes! Feel free to drop by at anytime, as I don't intend on letting this thread die aha. It'll always be bustling with activity from my little man]

Just below The Waterfall, rising up just below the billowing warm mist, grows a massive plum tree in full early spring bloom. Its petals sway gently in the cool breezes, attracting various insects & birds to take sips from the nectar. Birds that filled the air with their music, gorgeous & burbling alongside the crashing water.

Elemur was having none of it.

He darts here & there, calling loudly & putting on pompous displays of wing flicking, beak snapping, & even the occasional ferocious dance move. An outsider looking on at the avians would not guess what was going on.. a full blown war. All flee before the might of the rotund male. His shrill cries, dastardly threats, & dancing has them reconsidering their idea of attempting to settle in the tree for a meal of nectar & insects. Why, you may ask, is he doing this? One reason: breeding season. Beautiful Calypso, his mate, is away at the moment, but that does not stop him from keeping on high alert. The male is generally affable & sweet, even grooming other birds.. not today, no, not in this February craze driving him to maintain personal space.

"I said stay back! Damn you all, back! Back!" He emits a beautiful chorus, rapidly flapping his wings as he clings to the flowering plum branch. A stray insect buzzes too close to him, intent on the tiny baby's breath blossoms peeking through his plumage-- various plants seem to grow directly from the fluffy creature's skin rather than feathers, in some places, ranging from sberry vines to herbs --only to be snapped up & moodily swallowed.
