fashionably late -- gift? - Verdigris - 02-05-2020

Jokul sat outside, lying on his back, reading over his map one more time.

It was accurate enough to not leave the Elysites totally lost, but still vague enough to keep them on their toes. They'd done well lately- they deserved a reward. Some new ground to cover, some excitement (that was much healthier than what the gods had subjected them to), what more could they want?

The sun was awfully bright today, though. Turning his head slightly, he sniffed the air. No, this was late-winter air, significantly warmer than December air. He'd goofed on the timing again. Oops.

Lifting a paw and smacking one of the loose rocks, he grinned as the ground began to rumble, the bells on his antlers jingling along with it. That'd do it, alright. Craning his neck, he watched an entrance to the cavern open up out of the ground. He turned back to his map and added the new entrance to it, then calmly laid the map on the ground beside him and shut his eyes, the rumbling slowing to a stop.

If the others came by, he'd explain what all this was. If not, well, he'd get a nice nap out of the deal.

/tl;dr: arctic fox with antlers chilling next to a newly-opened cavern, with a map lying around that can be picked up by anyone
/this was supposed to happen over a month ago but shhhh

Re: fashionably late -- gift? - nemhain. - 02-07-2020

Nemhain had never encountered the soul currently sitting outside of the newly opened cavern on Elysium territory, and she found herself tense and jittery despite the peaceful look that Jokul carried upon his face. He didn't seem to be a threat, and she didn't detect any hostility in the air, but she couldn't truly trust anything at face value, not when there were gods lurking in the shadows, eager to destroy Rin and drag Elysium down with them. Keeping a healthy dose of suspicion within her heart, the fenghuang found herself landing nearby, just a few tentative steps in front of the fox. She eyed the newly opened cavern skeptically, wondering how the hell such a thing had been formed, and what could possibly be inside. Deciding now was not the time for just wondering, she cocked her head back to Jokul, chirping softly, "You... sir, what is this? What is this cavern, and why are you here? You are not a threat... are you?" It might've seemed a bit silly, coming right out and asking if someone was a threat of some kind, but if there was one thing that the fenghuang had learned from both her own experiences and Rin's memories, it was that the gods could be some cocky bastards. And when they got cocly, they had a tendency to get stupid, as well.
