REDVOX "VINNY" ABRAMO - cis male - goat-bat hybrid - harbinger
[Image: pEeXKGc.png]
It waz no secret that the Halls of Hiraeth did not yet have any sort of official medic. The cleric positions remained woefully empty, and had been every since the group had reformed months ago, and did Vinny feel good about it? Of course not. It seemed as though those who lived within the Halls were a group of extremely accident prone individuals, and injuries were far from the rare occurrence that they were supposed to be. Whether it be Aslisk getting burned, him falling and nearly breaking something, or Roman getting his leg latched onto by an angry snake, it seemed as though they were constantly just drifting through life from one injury at a time to the next. And seeing as how Vin had no desire to forcibly shove Roman into the role of cleric – especially since he was one of the injured listed before – that meant that somebody else needed to learn some medical shit. Perhaps Vox would've been overjoyed if someone could just step up to him and say "hey, I wanna be a cleric," but seeing as how that didn't seem to be happening, he had decided to take it upon himself to learn some stuff about healing. After all, there was nothing saying that the harbinger couldn't double as a cleric, especially since there was a need for it.

So, Vox had scoured everywhere he could around the territory, fighting against the still falling flakes of snow as he searched for anything related to the medical persuasion. Most of it was obviously books, but there were also a couple of pamphlets thrown in there, and pretty much anything that vaguely looked like it could've been related to the human doctors that had once lived there. After doing this, Vox had dragged everything back to the main Fortress, half stumbling and half teleporting his way up to his room. It was a messy process, but he eventually made it, spilling books, pamphlets, and whatever else he had all over the floor to sort them. After several minutes of searching through what he had gathered, Redvox now sat in the middle of his room, surrounded not only by books, but also by the foliage still inside of it he hadn't bothered to beat back. He was fidgeting aimlessly with a roll of bandages in his claws as he mumbled, a frown of concentration on his face, "Borage helps with stomach aches 'n' fevers... celandine 'elps with damaged eyes... shit, I wish I could come up with some sorta rhyme for all'a this..." He seemed as though he was trying his best, but was also hopelessly lost.

An essential piece of druid training pertained to the medical arts.  Knowing how to look to the Earth for aid through the use of herbs could mean saving a life.  An avid learner, Breena's curious mind had soaked up everything she could, during both her time with her small family clan and while she was on her own.

The petite Arch-rouge would hardly call herself a healer, much less express interest in the role.  A terrifying position really.  To be so responsible for the health of others.  To possibly be the only thing standing in between someone's life and their death.

Or perhaps she thought too much into it.  Her panicky mind finding a distaste for the idea of handling matters to do with blood and the like.  To be in a position where help could so easily become a hindrance.  Stars.  She did not envy the world's true medics.  They must live stressful lives.

Breena found herself stressed enough, stuck fumbling around in a the small hybrid form she'd shifted into.  Wary of heights and terrified of falling, the druid seemed determined to walk about the Fortress rather than use her wings.  An awkward experience, talons clicking on the floor and her wings folded up against herself.

Her dark eyes widened slightly in surprise when she caught Redvox stumbling in, disappearing in an obvious bout of teleportation.  What in the stars is he lugging...?

It took a great deal of effort, climbing the steps the way she seemed too stubborn to fly up, faltering a number of times when she thought she had no balance.  As she finally found her way, Breena stepped inside hesitantly.  She hardly wanted to rudely interrupt anything.

Risen entirely in the forests, untouched by human influence, the feathered bat-like girl lacked the skill to read.  Her sharp ears understood what Redvox was grumbling about however.  "It helps to categorize…" She began softly, ears twitching sheepishly.  "Many herbs help do the same thing... So you just have remember a few...  A few herbs for each category.  Like horsetail and marigold both do the same thing."

I GET MY WAY THROUGH GENOCIDE CAUSE FREAKS LIKE YOU JUST WASTE MY TIME
ASLISK - wyvern - powers - halls of hiraeth - regent - hot shot
Medicine was no where near Aslisk's realm of skill. Her one purpose in life was the exact opposite of healing. Crafted to destroy and slay and lay waste to every and all things that lived. Sure, she didn't do it all that often - if at all - anymore, but that didn't mean that some residual thoughts continued to linger. Those thoughts left her clueless about medicine. Her wife got sick often. As much initiative as Aslisk took to try and find solutions for the common colds and sicknesses that plagued her beloved, often she wound up with empty talons and a frustrated scowl. Healing was not in the cards for her to learn. Healing was not something that she would ever comprehend.

Still. It didn't keep her from being inquisitive about what Redvox was lugging around. Her burnt body was looking better as of late, far less damage present - and the damage that remained seemed to be healing. It wasn't helped by constantly denying herself rest and fighting against any and all aid that had been provided to her. She simply was not good medic material. Aslisk, of course, would not be wounded by such a statement. "Didn't know we were making lusluing salads today," the regent huffed as her strides brought her over. Red eyes surveyed the plants that were set out, and her gaze flickered to the bandages. Webbed ears flicked and her head lowered somewhat. "What's all this about? That's not even a hasking tail, how in the name of Nitis can it be a horse tail.." Aslisk grumbled the last few words mostly under her breath, confused by the naming system at play. Herbs and their purposes? They went over her head. She had lived her most recent years amidst an entirely herbivorous species that had absolutely no concept of healers. Plants were food, that was that, there was no changing anything. Aslisk looked over the herbs present for a few moments longer before again speaking. "I guess I could help sort them. Don't have hasking much else to do right now."

REDVOX "VINNY" ABRAMO - cis male - goat-bat hybrid - harbinger

Embarassment. Vox wasn't sure if he was actually all that embarrassed about being caught surrounded by various books and herbs, trying his damnedest to attempt to memorize them. What he was embarrassed about, however, was the fact that one of the first to appear in the doorway was someone who probably knew far more about herbs than he ever could. Taking in Breena's soft and sheepish voice, Vox smiled weakly at the arch-rogue, mumbling as he flipped uselessly through a couple of pages in one of his books, "That does seem like a good idea... I'm just workin' off'a bunch of books, so it's a little hard f'me to remember what things just 'ave the same effect... I wish I was better at rememberin' all this shit, y'know?" He felt a little sheepish himself, mainly because of the fact that he was speaking in such a way in front of Breena. He had never heard the soft and kind druid cuss even once, and he suddenly felt like reversing time just so he could put it less bluntly. Curling his claws anxiously in one of the nearby books, he let out a huff of frustration, "I'm tryin' to take th'pressure off of Roman, since he's one of th'only two people 'ere who really knows medicine... I should've known that it would be difficult, though. Must be why not many people do it..." He sighed as he looked down at the book he had in a death grip, shaking his head a little at his own failures.

As he was rambling about his own problems, in came Aslisk, her usual gruff self as she eyed the books and herbs laying all around the room. Vox frowned a little at her initial irritated comment, but thankfully it didn't seem as though she was too hostile today. Or, at the very least, her boredom had proved to outweigh her hostility, for now. Pushing himself up a little, Vox gestured at several of the random scattered piles of herbs, letting out a frustrated whine from the back of his throat, "I'd love f'you to be able t'help sort Aslisk, but unless you can identify what each of these things does, we don't really have a basis to sort with..." He let out a soft and aggravated sigh before turning his attention back to Breena, tilting his head to one side, "You know how t'work with herbs, don't ya Breena? D'ya think maybe y'could help me learn at least the basics? We could sort all these herbs out 'n' have a nice organized supply in case we need it..." He prayed that they wouldn't need such a thing, but even Bertille couldn't 100% guarantee anything, and having an organized storage would be better than not, right?

Learning something new always started off difficult at first.  The druid simply nodded along, unsurprised by the admittance of having trouble.  Her bat ears twitched lightly at the sound of Aslisk striding in, offering help despite the obvious lack of knowledge of even basic herbal identification.  Oh dear.  They really were in bad shape, weren't they?

Breena felt her cheeks beginning to warm considerably, chest concaving a little as the harbinger turned back to her.  Her teach?  Stars, if that didn't rattle her a little.  She hardly believed she was teacher material.  She wasn't terribly smart.  Couldn't even read most languages.  She just had a mind built for retaining interesting information and plants interested her.

The owl-bat shuffled her feet.  Basics.  Was that just first aid?  It was the most important start to learning medicine, she supposed.  Immediate care could make an immense difference.  "I... Well, yes of course...  I don't mind... Helping."

"You want to start with first aid," she began quietly.  "Dealing with bleeding... Preventing infection... General aid."

"Horsetail is very bushy... Looking.  I dunno.  No flowers, and the stems are jointed.  Big leaves," she explains with flickering eyes.  "Horsetail and marigold both help stop bleeding and prevent infection."

"A good first aid... Kit should always have either horsetail or marigold."
