" i wanna take the long way home "

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

the scents of home filled the old woman's nose, coupled with new and strange scents. she had been gone for months really, grieving the loss of her last kit, and grieving at their grave, tending it for hours upon end, reading stories to those travelling along her path, recounting her child's life to those who would listen. and now, the weary traveller returned to her empty home and the secrets that it guarded.

walking slowly into the marketplace, the old she-cat turned her head this way and that, fondly discovering the library that she had moved into with her child and called home. mounting the steps of the behemoth of a building, she reached up and gently pushed the door open, its latch loose and creaking. blinking blue eyes into the gloomy darkness, she eased her heavy bags unto the ground and went about discovering where her candles had gone. lighting a candle, she put the pillar into the holder and gingerly carried the holder around to light the other candles in the library, slowly opening the curtains to avoid disturbing the motes and dust mites. light flooded into the dusty old library, highlighting the old woman's features and her scars. upon the floor were the scars of dropped books, singe marks from rolling candles and droplets of long hardened wax, not to mention the ink pot in the corner.

a sob welling in her throat, she sat down wearily and put her paws to her eyes, allowing herself to cry and sob, mouening her child anew, the echoes of them in every little nook or cranny of the library. wiping away her tears after a while of crying, she began to pick up the sheafs of paper splattered in their writing and her own corrections in red, or blue, both recounting their vast memories and stories, 'oh, my dear finnegan. my poor sweet baby.' she murmured softly as she read through the papers.

putting the books back into their proper order and setting aside the books in need of mending, she turned to attacking the dust and chasing it out of all the little cracks it had found homes in. taking the rug into her jaws she took it outside to air, draping it over a low branch. propping the door open, she continued her cleansing, bringing out the curtains to air and shed their layers of moths and dust. she would have to wash them soon. softly exhaling, she opened the windows and went about bringing out various fruits and goodies from her traveling bag, setting them onto her silver platter with a bowl of water, on the library's doorstep.

standing behind the food offering, she closed her eyes and inhaled, exhaling as she looked about the market square, her blue eyes shining with tears as she smiled and sat down, 'i am home.', she purred, waiting for the first curious face to show itself.

Finnloch. Nemhain is... unsure if she knows the female. Or rather, if Rin knows the female. She tries to summon up some memories, or some past important events involving the female, but she comes up with only fuzzy static in her mind, making the fenghuang sigh heavily. It wasn't that she had a problem with introducing herself to people without the crutch that Rin's memory provided, but she still finds herself wishing she had some sort of starting point to go from. Personas were not naturally supposed to be social creatures, and that was what made it difficult for Nem to get a firm handle on every single little social construct that she could be missing or misinterpreting. She supposed she could figure these things out by combing through Rin's old memories of when she had been taught of these evidently vitally important things, but that could take hours or even days depending on what she wanted to learn, and the fenghuang found she learned better through experience. All she could really hope for was that she didn't mess up too bad, and end up with a scenario where she had seriously hurt someone's feelings on accident. After all, she was designed for hurting others physically, not emotionally, and she certainly didn't want to harm any Elysites – as long as Rin cared for them, that is.

The huge bird had been circling lazily around the main camp area of Elysium, letting her sore and previously unused wings have a chance to stretch themselves out and get used to flying again. Sure, she had flown a few times since her initial awakening, particularly at the huge invasion of the Ferryman, but that had been a spur of the moment thing, and she had felt a deep seated ache in her bones that came from such a long time just lingering without true flight. However, her aimless flight practice was interrupted when she noticed movement down below. Not just any movement, but someone going into the library. Curiosity piqued, Nemhain found herself landing carefully on a building nearby, being especially gentle and making sure not to put her full weight down on the building's roof, since it was liable to crumble if she did so. Cocking her head to one side, Nem just watched silently for a while, observing. When Finnloch emerged from the library with treats and water, however, Nem saw fit to glide down, letting her talons hit the earth before she folded her massive wings back in close. Taking the last few steps to where she was right in front of the library, Nemhain chirped in her deep and echoing voice, "Hello there, miss. Could I know your name? I am Nemhain. I live here." That was a rather simplified way of putting it, but Nemhain honestly found it simpler to just introduce herself as a normal group member, rather than the manifestation of Rin's personality and emotions.

" i wanna take the long way home "

surprise flitted through the old woman's gaze before she smiled warmly, bowing to nemhain, "greetings Nemhain. my name is Finnloch Ó Cathasaigh , or Finnloch Casey if the words have changed. I was here many a moon ago, with my child Fin. Fin has passed away and I went to bury them, grieve and travel. I have only just returned home to the library we once lived in when this land belonged to Sunhaven, before Elysium was formed. who lords this land now?" she murmured with a curtsey, old bones agreeing with the fluid movement though she nearly knocked the tray from the stoop.

"it would not surprise me if few remembered who I am. i am medically conscious and inclined to help. if you or yours have need of my aid, you need only come find this old woman. i am known as a storykeeper, and thus i live in the library and work as a scribe to revord events for thr future generations to read back upon." she murmured politely, sitting up once more.

Re: sweeter than honey and nectar && return - nemhain. - 01-08-2020

Finnloch... manages to pleasantly surprise Nemhain with her elegance and charm, the fenghuang's eyes widening minutely as the older – older being relative, considering Nem had no true age – woman granted her a curtsey along with her greeting. She listened intently to the introduction that the other gave, before speaking with a shuffle of her large wings, glancing around as if Rin might come into sight, "Warringkingdoms is the one who "lords" over this land now. She is our magna who took over for Tena somewhat recently. Although I very much prefer to call her Lady Rin." Not only was Warringkingdoms a mouthful, but Nemhain found it disrespectful simply to call her lady by the Rin nickname on its own. Settling her large form down into essentially a half sitting half laying position with her legs folded beneath her, Nem's rare smile widened at Finnloch's second statement, finding herself utterly fascinated by this woman. She chirped, eyes faintly glittering, "A scribe, you say? That is a very fascinating path in life that you have decided to take... I am excited to see you around more often. Although I'm afraid you missed some rather exciting things just before your return." Nemhain could be considered to be slightly self centered, considering she was partially talking about her own awakening, but she also imagined several would agree that the moment had been particularly exciting.

[font=trebuchet ms]Nemhain had beaten her to a newcomer once again. Rin supposed it wasn't entirely surprising that her persona would be so prolific- if Nemhain had inherited anything from her origin, a penchant for wandering and patrolling would probably be the first to make an appearance. Still, Rin couldn't afford to laze around herself; no one would accept the fact that part of her technically was showing up to greet joiners as an excuse for her not appearing in person.

Finnloch sounded vaguely familiar, but that could probably be chalked up to word-of-mouth- Rin didn't think they'd ever met. Her mention of being from Sunhaven supported that explanation further, as Rin had had little to do with Sunhaven prior to the merge. Rin arrived at the scene as the question arose of who was in charge, and dipped her head in agreement to Nemhain's answer. "That would be me, yes," she confirmed. "Just 'Rin' is fine."

As Finnloch described being medically- and historically-inclined, Rin twitched her ears. Having a scribe would be useful indeed. "I think that's a good idea," she remarked. Nemhain's comment about the recent events being "exciting" didn't elicit a comment from Rin- "exciting" wasn't exactly inaccurate, although perhaps not the word Rin would use. Either way, she could explain the details later.

Examining Finnloch more closely, Rin quirked a brow. She looked almost as though she'd been crying, although allergies could also be to blame, especially with the library having been so dusty for the past few months. In either case, having company might help, if Finnloch was up for it. "Do you need any further assistance with cleaning the library?" Rin asked, tugging at her scarf. "It's a lot of ground to cover for one creature."

Finnloch relaxed herself as Nemhain settled to speak with her, admiring the other being's delightful presentation of her self and whom she was associated with. "lady rin. it has been quite some time since I have heard old titles being used", she purred in delight. the molly had been around for a very long time indeed, granted the slightest immortality by the god her child had married, and through her own hard work in her youth.

turning to rin as she arrived, she made a curtsey towards her as well, smiling warmly. "that's a definite shame, to have missed so many things while i was gone. i hope one of you ladies could fill me in some time soon. a pleasure to meet you rin. oh, my apologies. please, another set of hands would be greatly appreciated. I must find my son in law's sword while i finish with the rest ..." she murmured softly, smiling sadly for a moment at the painful memories before shaking herself free. "a scribe's life is never easy, and we often are mistaken for spies." she laughed gently, motioning to the tray, "[b]i have snacks and refreshments if either of you want any. still a habit to gather food for two" she smiled gently.
