Don't you worry // blind date #6 // there's still time - jacob w.c. - 05-04-2018
WHAT A PRIVILEGE IT IS TO LOVE — [member=321]melantha[/member] and [member=215]london r.[/member] Jacob wasn't sure what little caverns would be used for platonic or romantic dates so he just did his best to make them all look cozy. Of course, fire was out of the question so there wouldn't be any romantic, candlelit dinners tonight. Each room had a variety of board games and cards in case the occupants wanted to stay past their meal. There was a large spread of food in each room as well, with a variety of dishes including some that had meat and some that didn't. He wasn't sure what kind of dietary needs each of his guests would have so he tried to offer everything he could think of without making the options too overwhelming. Of course, there were a variety of types of pasta noodles and sauce along with various kinds of meat as the main course, then there was a fruit salad and regular caesar salad, and then there were a variety of deserts including the pastries that'd been out in the lobby and different types of cookies. He then put in a variety of soft pillows and blankets to lay on along with a low table in the middle containing all the dishes. There was hot chocolate, wine, and water in each room (although he removed the wine later in the evening when he knew where children, particularly his son, would be). With everything set, all that was left to do was remove the wine from rooms with children and wait for the guests to arrive. —A GREAT HONOR TO HOLD YOU UP Re: Don't you worry // blind date #6 // there's still time - melantha - 05-04-2018 [align=center][div style="max-width: 600px; text-align: justify; font-family: verdana; font-size: 9pt;"]As much as Melantha loved the idea of a wonderfully romantic date with a handsome stranger who would promptly sweep her off her paws, the young female is secretly pleased that she is paired with London. The albino snow leopard is definitely a sweetheart, and although Mel herself is terrible when it comes to small talk, she feels safe around London. Awkward though she might be, the good thing is that she will not feel obligated to be on her guard. Perhaps she can even have fun if things turn out alright. The North American wildcat approaches the meeting point slowly, silently. Luminous olive eyes sweep the area, searching for any sign of London. Unfortunately, it seems that Mel is first. Her heart thunders in her chest, anxiety becoming nigh uncontrollable. What if she is in the wrong place? Did she hear Jacob correctly? Is she sure? The alluring aroma of pasta distracts her, luring her from the bottomless void of her anxieties. Without even hesitating, she serves herself a hearty portion of pasta and meat sauce, feasting on the delicious food. Sure, maybe she should have waited for London, but she is hungry and anxious and bored and no one ever taught her table manners. At least the stuff isn't all over her face. Re: Don't you worry // blind date #6 // there's still time - london r. - 05-04-2018 This whole date thing was still confusing to London, who had little to no skills in a social environment such as this. For all she knew this could be a team building exercise to chose what date some event should fall on, however what did that have to do with friendship or making babies- er romance? She supposed she would figure it out eventually, but she did hope that "eventually" got here fast, as she didn't want to make things awkward, especially not around Melantha. The other was always so cool and composed, London didn't want her to know how much of a scatterbrain the clouded leopard really was when it came to things like this. So the girl stopped outside the room for just a moment, attempting to mentally prepare herself for this, well, whatever this was. When she entered the room, the first thing the girl noticed was that the wildcat had already arrived, which made her feel guilty for hesitating. A smile would plaster itself on the girl's features, the nervousness she'd tried to fight away just seconds before returning full force. The second thing she noticed was the assortment of food, the fantastic aroma tantalizing her senses. And then of course the games, all neatly laid out for them to play if they chose to. The girl had entered the room with no expectations, but this certainly wasn't what she had expected. So this date thing really wasn't about calendars at all, huh, how weird. Why was it called a date then, that didn't make sense. Oh, or perhaps it was related to the fruit! But somehow the girl doubted that as well, as the pasta did not seem to be made using dates, nor were any of the sauces. And the games did not appear to be date palm themed either. "This all looks really yummy!" the albino would chime, her voice laced in it's signature British accent. She then quickly joined Mel, filling up her own plate and adding the meat sauce. She supposed if Mel liked the sauce she should give it a try too, seeing as it might possibly help them form a friendship in some sort of way, right? Bonding over sauce preferences? Was that a thing? Eating a mouthful of the noodles, the girl couldn't help but enjoy the rich flavors poured into this dish. it was like a concert in her mouth, each spice adding another alluring sound to the symphony. "It tastes yummy too! Don't you think so? Jacob's a really good cook!" she mused, doing her best to start some casual conversation. She's never actually been in a romantic relationship, per se, but Mel reads enough romantic novels to know the important stuff. Dates, setting the mood, subtle gestures of affection, the importance of eye contact and touch. The real question is if she can put all that knowledge into practice, however. In case anyone's wondering: she can't. Melantha wishes that she could possess the confidence to travel down that path, but deep down she knows that she is not as emotionally mature as she thinks she is. The girl is just not ready for that sort of thing. But she can talk about it with others. There is nothing more fun than girl talk. If London asks the right questions and says the right things, the albino snow leopard might just unlock a side of Mel no one else has had the privileged to see since she was separated from her family. Squash green orbs glance up at the sound of approaching pawsteps. Ah, there she is. Mel notes that London is looking beautiful as ever. She wonders what it's like to have been born beautiful. Unlike people like London or her mother, Jackie, Melantha is cursed to be forever plain. Not ugly, but certainly not a person who deserves a double-take. 'This all looks really yummy.' "Spoiler alert: the pastries smell really good but you won't be able to taste them unless you're taste buds have evolved beyond your species." Not exactly a greeting, but at least Melantha continued the conversation (after chewing and swallowing, of course). A faint grin crosses the predator's features when she realizes that her companion has picked out the same meal as she. "Good choice." A really good choice. Mel already approves. Muscular shoulders rise and fall in a nigh imperceptible shrug. Yeah, Jacob is an extremely fantastic cook, but she is not ready to admit that. "I suppose so," replies the lionheart, olive eyes flickering across London's features briefly before returning to her meal. Yes, Melantha is hungry, but her focus on the food is more to allow herself time to think about stupid shit she can talk about than anything else. "So...is this, like, your first date?" asks the girl awkwardly. She winces at her own words, but, then again, at least she is making an attempt. "Not like a date-date but like this sort of setting, or whatever." Smooth, real smooth. Perhaps she should just stick to reading books. |
