YEAH, IT'S VERBATIM ☆ gifts - hushsound. - 12-11-2019 HUSH SOUND "Link... it's time to wake up." Thanks to the unfortunate injured state that he was currently in as a result of Trojan's attack, Hush had a lot more time on his paws that wasn't devoted to training in any way. He couldn't exactly do any hardcore training right now – despite the fact he so desperately wanted to get stronger, so that he wouldn't have to be humiliated again like he had been – due to the fact that his leg was currently injured and doing any intensive training on it would only serve to make it worse. That wasn't even mentioning his shoulder, since if he tried to swing his sword with his shoulder in its current condition, he would probably just end up tearing something or making it so that he would have to heal for longer. So, in order to fill his time and not feel too unhappy with himself thanks to feeling inadequate, Hush had been finding various ways to spend his time. The first and most obvious way was to spend time with Kilius, sticking close to his boyfriend and talking to him, napping with him, and just generally hanging out with him. However, there were limits to even this, and there were times where Hushsound found that he just wanted to be alone. Not only so that he could sort out his warring thoughts over how useless he felt, but also in order to do tasks besides just lazing around. It had taken him a while to figure out something he could do, but eventually the idea had smacked him straight in the face – gifts. After all, it was the holiday season, and gift giving was one of the main hallmarks of it. Plus, Hush wanted to make things up to others, for the fact that he had to be protected from Trojan. He was fairly sure Goldie would insist he wasn't a burden, but... if he wasn't a strong and powerful hero, what even was he? In an effort to calm himself and find something to do, Hushsound had decided that he was either going to get or create gifts for Goldie, Kilius, Tanteri, and Keona, since they were the four other Typhooners that he knew the best. Tanteri's was perhaps the easiest gift, since Hush already had a pretty good idea of what the dinosaur liked. Going off of the little crab event that the male had hosted a bit ago, Hush had decided to round up some good tasty crab, slicing their carapaces and chucking the halves inside of a large bucket. It was a little more work now that he couldn't swing his sword far above his head and bring it down on them, meaning he had to do a little bit more actual cutting, but it still relatively wasn't that bad, and soon enough Hush had a giant bucket of crab, all wrapped up in a neat little bow. He seriously doubted that Tanteri would care much about the presentation, but he still wanted to make it seem like a proper present, so the bow felt appropriate. After Tanteri's relatively simple gift had been finished, Hush had decided it was time to move on to the hard stuff. The next one was Keona, since he knew relatively little about the female, despite the two of them having interacted quite a few times now. One thing he had noticed about her, however, was that she wasn't much of a fighter. He wasn't sure if this was because of her blindness, or because of something else, but he had decided he was going to help her a little with that. So, he had forged her a dagger. Similar in size to his own sword, only a little bit smaller so that Keona would actually be able to wield it. It was a dark ebony color, and had taken a few times over the fire before Hushsound had really been properly satisfied with it, but once he was, he couldn't help the grin that came to his face. Once again, the wrapping up process mostly consisted of just wrapping it up in a bow, since he doubted any wrapping paper would hold up well against the sharp tip of the blade. After he was done, he put it aside with Tanteri's gift, thinking to himself that he would also offer Keona lessons in how to use the blade when he gave it to her. Moving on, Hush then turned his attention to Goldie and Kilius. Goldie would be far be the hardest, given the idea he had in mind for her gift, so he decided that it would be last. As for a gift for his beloved boyfriend, he had decided to make Kili an eyepatch. In technicality, Kilius didn't really need an eyepatch due to his blindness, but Hush still felt like the other would appreciate something to cover up his flaming eye, just so he wouldn't unintentionally set things on fire. The eyepatch ended up being made of a bit of leather and the most durable metal Hush was able to find around the island, just so that it would be able to withstand the flames from Kilius's one eye. When it was finished, Hush carefully looped a bit of leather through it using his paws and teeth so that Kilius would be able to tie it on. Finally, it came time to make Goldie's gift. Goldie's was the most complex of all, since it required Hush to make a mold to actually put his melted metal into. It had taken quite a bit of carving into a large piece of bark with his claws, but eventually he made a somewhat messy mold for a charm that showed a tigress standing atop a large wave. After the mold was completed, Hush tossed several pieces of metal that he could find over the fire, and waited until they were melted down before he poured them onto the makeshift mold, letting it cool and harden. When it was finally done, the charm did look a bit chunky, thanks to the fact that it hadn't been specially made, but it still looked pretty good, and Hushsound found himself proud of it, hoping that Goldie would appreciate it too. Once his gift making venture was done, Hush plopped back on his haunches, looking at the small pile of gifts and wondering how he should distribute them. He figured it wasn't too bad to give them out a bit before Christmas actually came, but he wasn't sure where the recipients of the gifts were at the moment. As he sat there contemplating, he wondered if the future owners would eventually just come up to him, and he could give them out that way... that was if Goldie was even in camp at the moment, that is, and not out dealing with the Pitt. tags - penned by @stilly Re: YEAH, IT'S VERBATIM ☆ gifts - MERGED - 12-13-2019 [div style="text-align:justify;width:55%;font-family:verdana"]of course, kilius was incredibly worried about his boyfriend, and wanted to keep an eye on him- heh- at all times, but he definitely understood hush needing a break from him and his never ending barrage of stupid jokes. he didn’t mind, but he felt the need to check on him, at the very least. as kili made his way over, he leaned to gently set his head on hush’s head. “hello, dear. have you been smithing again? oh, i have a joke perfect for that.. how do you know if a dog is the pet of a blacksmith? he makes a bolt for the door! heh-heh.. get it? bolt!" Re: YEAH, IT'S VERBATIM ☆ gifts - hushsound. - 12-14-2019 HUSH SOUND "Link... it's time to wake up." Hush honestly felt... sort of awful that Kilius felt the need to watch over and protect him. Of course, unbeknownst to him, Kilius would've wanted to protect him either way, but to his current embarrassed and ashamed mind, he was a complete and utter disappointment, and that was why Kilius needed to be around. It was supposed to be the other way around, where Hush watched Kilius's back and made sure everything was alright! But now instead all he could do was limp around and make presents, and feel so small. Despite the sudden wave of sheepish and shameful emotions, Hushsound's mind was soon soothed when Kilius set his head atop his, and the wolf found his eyes involuntarily closing on instinct. When his love asked him if he had been smithing, he opened his mouth to answer, only for Kilius to, of course, continue with a joke. A soft groan leaving him, Hush tilted his head up to nuzzle the other canine as he barked hoarsely, "Hello, Kili. That was a really bad one... and yeah, I've been smithing again. I was making presents for people." He considered whether or not to tell Kilius about his present if the other asked, before eventually deciding that he would. After all, Kilius had been complaining about burning stuff more and more often lately, and the eyepatch would probably serve him well sooner rather than later. tags - penned by @stilly Re: YEAH, IT'S VERBATIM ☆ gifts - Keona. - 12-18-2019

Her rounded ears perked attentively, her nose sharply identifying her to crewmates in seconds.

The later worried her. The scent of healing herbs and injury in the air. Truth be told, Keona had not fought much in her life. But she had hardly lived in complete peace. Her escape from the Pitt many moons ago had proven that. The broken ribs she had sustained afterwards... Were not a Pittian's doing in fact but if it hadn't been for the Pitt, she imagined that fight might've gone better for her. Maybe. Since Seamus had left to spy on the Pitt for Goldie, the tiny fae had lacked her usual sparring partner. She had begun to realize she may need to remedy that soon. And utilizing a weapon had never been a priority to her, despite Seamus' fondness for knives. As such a gift of a sword may warrant a deal of surprise and uncertainty from Keona. "Perhaps we need a tree..." She muttered, blinking up at Hushsound. "Do you need help passing them out?" Keona liked to think of herself as a rather decent tracker, unaware that one of the gifts actually went to her. © MADI Re: YEAH, IT'S VERBATIM ☆ gifts - hushsound. - 12-18-2019 HUSH SOUND "Link... it's time to wake up." When Keona walked up, Hush made a soft noise from the back of his throat, somewhat glad that the two other crewmates that had come upon him were the blind ones. Sure, he intended to give them their presents fairly quickly, but that didn't mean that he wanted them to see what their presents were right away. He wanted there to at least be some element of surprise. With his tail wagging from side to side a little, the injured male barked warmly at Keona, "A tree would probably be nice, yeah. After all, 'tis the season. But I don't think I need help giving them out. I mean, I've only got a few, and two of the people I'm giving presents to have come to me, so..." He shrugged his shoulders a bit, even if Keona ultimately couldn't see the gesture. Looking down at his little pile of presents, he searched through the little crowd for a moment before he found the eyepatch and the dagger. The dagger was exceptionally small to his current canine form, but it would be perfect for Keona, and he found himself smiling slightly as he shifted it in her direction – careful not to put it directly in front of her. After all, it wasn't as if he wanted the poor blind girl to step on it. tags - penned by @stilly Re: YEAH, IT'S VERBATIM ☆ gifts - fulzanin - 12-21-2019 <the fiercest storm only hardened my resolve>
It was the truth that Tanteri was someone who was very easily given gifts. He didn't have much desire for much more than food. Shiny objects, perhaps. The pteranodon sometimes went and collected shells to gaze at before leaving them behind when they no longer ensnared his attention. Or smooth feeling stones that felt nice to curl his talons around. The pterosaur didn't actually collect items. Tanteri was used to being nomadic. He was used to flying from island to island, not staying in one place for a lengthy period of time. Staying here in the Typhoon was such an odd feeling. He liked it here, though. There wasn't much danger, not a lot of people that preyed upon him. The raptor he had seen had briefly startled him, but that panic had been cast aside.
Tanteri didn't actually have a permanent place of residence. It could be chalked up as a part of his nomadic nature. Sometimes he would sleep in one place, and other times in another. Trying to leave a gift on his metaphorical doorstep would have been near impossible due to how much Tanteri moved around. Although seeing the congregation warranted his presence. The pterosaur swooped on down from where he'd probably just been about to continue on with his random flying about. He landed a little heavily, beak clicking a few times. "What's all this stuff for?" The pteranodon asked. He hadn't ever been given gifts before. It wasn't as if there was food to usually spare back where he had come from. Survival had been of the fittest, and gift giving when food could turn scarce was absolutely not a genius idea. His lanky tail flicked behind him, looking over the gifts that had yet to be given out. His enhanced senses were sight and hearing, not smell. Still, he felt as if he could just barely smell seafood all the same, and an eager look had presented itself on his scaly countenance. She wouldn't have minded seeking anyone out but if they were all... Oh. Her ear flicked. A glint of surprise in her sightless eyes. She could hardly recall anyone outside of her direct family giving her gifts before.

That was nice. She didn't have anything in turn though... Considering she kept to herself so much she barely knew everyone's favorite things. Her sharp ears followed the sound of shifting movement. A small object gently placed in her direction. Only a metallic smell to offer any hint. Slowly, the tiny fae scoped the object out with one paw. A hilt. Dagger? Sword? The Privateer had never held a weapon in her life. She used her claws. In extreme cases, she responded with elementals. Her father, Seamus not Kian, was handy with small daggers, from what she heard. Keona pulled the hand-crafted sword closer, brows creased in thought. Weapons made her uneasy. She had enough trouble calculating if a blow with her claws might land before her opponent moves away. A weapon was an extension. Useful, for sure, especially when they were something sharp, but how was she supposed to know how to hit something with it? Maybe she was overthinking. The faerie appreciated the fact Hushsound dedicated the time to forge her a weapon of her own. No simple task. Much less to ensure it was not larger than she was. "I... I don't know how to use it but, thank you. Mahalo." © MADI |
