PROTOCOL ENGAGED ☆ tree decorating, o - redvox. - 12-06-2019 REDVOX "VINNY" ABRAMO - cis male - goat-bat hybrid - harbinger One of the many things that Redvox liked about the Christmas holiday was the Christmas tree. He thought it was very interesting, taking something so usually mundane and making it beautiful with a mixture of lights and trinkets and little bobbles of all different kinds. And sure, maybe they couldn't really have the big light up bulbs from all of the pictures of Christmas trees that he had seen, but they could still have something nice looking. It had definitely taken some digging around to find all the different supplies that they would need, but thankfully Christmas was not a concept that was foreign to the humans that used to live in the apartment building, so he was able to find many different kinds of decorations stored away in closets and boxes, ripe for picking from. After he had found what he deemed to be the best decorations for the task, Vinny had gone through the rather arduous task of dragging all of the different ornaments and other things down the stairs to the lobby of the fortress – something that took multiple trips and more than a little cursing when something dropped and shattered, which meant he would have to clean it up before someone accidentally cut themselves open. Still, despite the difficulty of it all, Vox was successful in gathering up all of the decorating supplies they would need... except for the tree. The tree was an entirely different story, since he had no idea how he was going to get one from outside. It wasn't as if he had the proper cutting tools, and he didn't trust Aslisk's fire powers to get it down cleanly, so... they were screwed, right? Wrong. Thankfully, humans had a habit of wanting Christmas trees, but not wanting any of the actual hassles that came with a tree, such as needing to water it or the constant falling needles. So, luckily for the Halls, Vox had been able to find a fake tree hidden away in one of the apartments, which was stored away in different chunks so that it was easier to move. This made moving the fake tree downstairs much easier than attempting to move the ornaments for it, and Vinny was eternally grateful for that fact, since he wasn't sure if he could get through that again without sobbing. After snapping the various pieces of the tree back together – with only a little bit of awkward fumbling thanks to the fact that he had claws and not thumbs – Vox had gone out and grabbed a couple of branches off one of the nearby pine trees, just to make the fake tree smell right. He had then come back inside, smiling in satisfaction at his own work as he put the branches beneath the tree and pulled the boxes of decorations closer. The boxes included tinsel, little twinkly chains of snowflakes, and all sorts of different kinds of little ornaments with various characters and scenery. Grinning happily, the harbinger turned and called up the stairs, trying not to bounce from excitement, "Guys! I put us together a Christmas tree! So if y'wanna come down 'n' help decorate it f'the season, come on down!" It could honestly only be more perfect if there was Christmas music playing in the background, but there was no way he was going through even more work to try and achieve that. Christmas. Not a terribly familiar holiday to the petite badger. In her time with the Halls however, Breena began hearing the name more and more often. Obviously the winter holidays were important. She hardly minded and when Redvox's relatively excited voice floated up the apartments, the druid decided to offer a paw. He set to all the work of putting the tree up, everyone else ought to help with the decorations. Besides, the concept actually sounded kind of fun. "I'll help," she offered softly as she joined the Harbringer downstairs. With a shy smile, she began to look through the boxes, brows creased in careful thought. She'd never decorated a tree before. What would look the best on the Halls first Christmas tree? Eventually a small ornament caught her dark eyes. Illustrated with some flowers, Breena decided she rather liked it's design. With gentle care, she hooked one of her long claws into the thin rope that would hold the orb and set it on one of the lower branches. "This is nice." — I WILL TRY TO BE THE BRIGHTEST — Re: PROTOCOL ENGAGED ☆ tree decorating, o - redvox. - 12-13-2019 REDVOX "VINNY" ABRAMO - cis male - goat-bat hybrid - harbinger The first to arrive to the little event – with the exception of a couple of npcs – was Breena, the arch-rogue and someone Vox had grown fond of since the moment he met her. She was soft spoken and a bit shy for sure, but the druid was also very kind, and being quiet was always pretty good for a rogue. When she came over and offered her help, Vox offered her an excited smile in return, saying with a little dip of his head, "Thanks, Breena. Jeed plenty'a paws ta decorate such a nice tree." He watched as she picked out one of the ornaments, one that didn't particularly surprise him in its design, and he chuckled softly, moving to pick out one of his own, which looked like some sort of cartoon mouse. Carefully lifting up a wing to put the ornament on the tree, Vinny blinked and flicked an ear as he heard Breena, grinning. Letting out a pleased hum, Vin nodded before mumbling, "Yeah, it is, ain't it? I love decoratin' the tree... I only really got ta do it once, back when I was just'a lil kit, but it was a really nice time ta spend with friends 'n' family." He really meant it, too. He could fondly remember when he had just been a tiny kit, stumbling over his own paws as he stood atop his mentor's back, stretching his paws out to put something on a higher branch. ASLISK - wyvern - powers - halls of hiraeth - regent - hot shot Tree decorating. What an odd activity. The wyvern had never participated in such a festivity before and it baffled her to hear the words that announced such. It was an activity to dress up a dying tree for the holidays. It didn't make any sense to her. It was confusing to her. Why? What sort of joy came from putting things on a tree, which was as far into decorating as she was knowledgable of. Her flaming body strode over, looking at the tree that was beginning to be covered in small festive items. Still confusing. Why were they putting things on the tree? "I think I'll watch." It was an honest statement. Should the wyvern attempt to touch the tree, there was the chance that she would burn such as she had her snowman. Entirely on accident, entirely without malicious intent. Her horns were cloaked in flames and so was the end of her tail as well as the edges of her wings. She couldn't use her jaws to put items on the tree, or the prongs of her tail. If she tried, there was a great possibility of the tree going up in flames. The building, too, if the flames continued to spread afterwards. The wyvern didn't like that idea. Not because she cared, no, that couldn't be it. She simply didn't want to be harped on it afterwards. That was totally the only reason, and she assured herself of it. Aslisk settled down to watch instead of participating. It wasn't as if she really grasped the concept of decorating, either. Her flaming tail briefly rested against the ground before raising up so that the floor wasn't scorched. "I'll supervise instead. Much more fitting." Probably safer too, she thought upon finishing her irritated grumbles, one of her ears flicking after speaking. TAGS 11/19/19: |
