the altars were due for a cleaning, their mother had said. the newcomers could not see it dusty or overgrown. they had to trim back any vegetation that tried to reclaim it. sweep the dead petals and flowers from the floor. clear out any spoiled offerings. dispose of any ill energy and then pray. it could easily take a handful of hours to finish, seeing as their own size was against them and the alters were in several different rooms, but cottontail worked diligently for their mothers sake.

they used their tail to brush away the debris that was left, flicking the dirt off of it. they completed their duty, saving their patron god for last so they could pray. the fisher took the lyre out from underneath the shrine and strummed it, leaning against the stone. their prayer wasn't melodic, but paired well with the instrument still. "sachin, eternal praise upon you, i come to you in my times of grace. renew my hearth so i might strengthen my resolve. i plead this of you in your purified name, o giver of music. absolve me with your glorious light." they continued to play, closing their eyes and burrowing themselves into their cloak. He had yet to see any that directly correlated with himself, but he knew that if there were any, they would be things he stayed as far away from as possible. He had been walking around when he heard Cot's song of prayer, and Ro had debated with himself on when the best time to say something would be best time to simply walk into the altar room, but he knew the longer he sat there and debated, the more awkward it would be for him when Cot finally noticed him, so the three-legged male finally said fuck it, and carefully walked in, making sure to be quiet so as not to disturb the younger animal. Sitting there himself, Roman listened to the music, content. He didn't worship anyone, and didn't think he would for fear of retaliation from his father, but he didn't care if he got in trouble for listening to music, Cot's voice was soothing, and it kept Roman at peace. Re: DOMINGO EN FUEGO && music - redvox. - 11-11-2019 REDVOX "VINNY" ABRAMO - cis male - goat-bat hybrid - harbinger Sachin. Although Vinny would always be a devout follower of Bertille, he did have to admit just how much the god of music and purity interested him. Many a follower of Sachin had told him just how much his firm and deep voice would be perfect for prayers and singing in praise to the black swan god, and while Vox was often flattered by their words, he never thought he would stop dedicating his spiritual life to Bertille. After all, she had been the one that had first led to the founding of Halls – it was practically tradition at this point for the Harbinger to be a follower of Bertille, with both Silas and Hadley before him having followed the goddess. Still, he did have to admit that Sachin was an incredibly inspiring god, considering the musical under light god was famous for representing those who had lived a hard and rough life, and their new beginnings. Honestly, Vox felt like Roman probably would've liked everything that Sachin represented, if it weren't for the fact that the male seemed to dislike gods and their pantheon system as a whole – not in a cruel or mean way, but he just seemed to avoid speaking about them at all, or seemed vaguely uncomfortable when they were brought up. Vinny didn't want to intrude or make Romanempire any more uncomfortable though, so he never asked the feline about it, figuring if Roman ever wanted to talk about it, he'd do it himself. Coming up beside Roman, the hybrid tilted his head to one side as he sat back on his haunches, his large ears perked up to listen to Cotton's prayers. He was very glad that Cotton had cleaned up the shrines all around the territory, having meant to do that himself, but never having found the time with everything he was doing. The harbinger waited until Cotton was done before he cleared his throat, saying with a bit of a casual smile as he dipped his head to them, "'Ey Cotton. Y'prayers always sound so damn pretty, but I guess that's kinda th'point of worshippin' Sachin, huh?" He inspected the shrine carefully, looking at the large black swan that was carved into the shrine, a music note clung between the bird's claws. Redvox then nudged his hip against Cotton's, grinning down at the younger weasel and mumbling warmly to them, "'N', uh... thanks f'cleanin' up the shrines, by th'way. I've kept meanin' ta do it for when I did a class on th'pantheon, but... I kept havin' something else come up all th'time." Ever since the Halls had been reformed, Cotton had been pretty damn helpful, with the other always willing to help out and always willing to clean stuff up in the name of Sachin – honestly, Vinny was sort of amazed by how devoted Cottontail was. they strummed and hummed for their patron, not expecting any viewers or audience. they wouldn't mind, though. part of their trials including reciting phrases and psalms in front of others, burying the nervous ache of public performance long ago.

eyes opened once more not long after roman entered the room, but cottontail only gave a small glance in acknowledgement to the other before continuing on. "revered master, patron in the clouds, hear my prayer in this hour. watch over me so i might guide others in your name. i ask this of you with open arms, o fire in our souls. provide me with your heavenly song." they gave a few more intricate strums before seeing redvox approach, pulling their hood down and expression lifting in a smile. they nodded, though humble. "i've been practicing a long time, i'm just now really getting the hang of playing the trickier parts." they played a small, minor chord to show. "oh, that's fine! mother said it was my turn anyway. she hasn't been feeling well since it started getting colder, so i've been taking on her usual chores to help out. she has this thing uh... ar... arch-kite-us? says it makes her joints hurt a lot." they didn't want to tell redvox entirely, but this years had come a lot worse than the last. her symptoms hadn't shown up until well into the cold season, and now once the first leaf fell it seemed her body just couldn't keep up. but that wasn't something the harbinger needed to worry about. like he had said, there were other things on his mind. his focus turned to roman, noticing him linger. did you want me to show you how to use the lyre? it's lots of fun when you get the hang of it." Re: DOMINGO EN FUEGO && music - fulzanin - 11-12-2019 Aslisk didn't exactly have a grasp of music. She was a tone deaf person. Sometimes she would hum, yes, but there was never any tune to be found with her quiet noise. That noise was reserved for when she was alone and she could not stand silence for a moment longer. The changes in pitch had to be drastic for her to comprehend. In addition, music wasn't exactly common where she came from. Where she had been born the only thing that was important was proving yourself through viciousness in order to establish yourself within the rankings. No music, unless one counted water dripping through the ceiling or systematic screaming of those who had not, in fact, adhered to the rules of violence and objected. When she moved to live with her wife, there was no music there, either. The species that had inhabited that world were just as tone deaf as she was - if not worse. They would try to sing, and while they could chirp like bird's their musical abilities were far from birdsong. They screeched and squealed, it tore through the air just like claws. Far from any form of pleasant.
Hearing the noise, the wyvern grew curious and came over. No, she still could not actually hear the melody. All Aslisk could understand from it was the noise. Briefly hearing the word 'prayer' made her stiffen. It was a word that she had heard during the second worst time of her life. Objectification round two of being deemed an item, the scowls, the fact that she was wrong for someone else's religion and way of life did not match her own. She still wanted to sink her teeth into his throat. She still, after being away from him for such an extended period, wanted to see the life leave his eyes. Prayer here might mean something else. Prayer here might not be as it was with him. It might not be asking for the strength to separate her from her wife. It might not be degrading her children for being the undead. Aslisk instead slowly settled, deciding to keep any possible sharp words to herself. She harbored grudges deep, and refused to let them go. Aslisk had already gotten in trouble once for her threats, and decided that this time she would keep her likely harsh words under wraps. ive always had to get my hands dirty, a patrol to make sure no one hurts me TAGS 10/3/19: Re: DOMINGO EN FUEGO && music - redvox. - 11-13-2019 REDVOX "VINNY" ABRAMO - cis male - goat-bat hybrid - harbinger Honestly, seeing Cottontail smile and look humbled and faintly pleased by his approach was... well, odd, for Redvox. Not that Vinny couldn't understand it, after all, back when he had been younger he had gone out of his way constantly to impress Hadley. But to now have people trying to impress him, or being pleased by his presence, looking up to him? It was sort of insane for the Harbinger, even though he wouldn't let others see that... had to at least pretend to know what he was doing, after all. When Cotton mentioned that they had just begun to get the hang of the trickier parts of their prayers, a grin spread over the hybrid's face, and he said with a chuckle, shifting a little on his wings, "Ah, that's great, Cotton. Y'doin' really good, trust me. I mean, I certainly can't play anythin' like that. Couldn't even begin ta imagine how to." Sure, he wasn't a follower of Sachin and thus didn't have to learn an instrument, but he had still considered it before, before writing it off. Perhaps he could've back when he had handy built in feline picks, but in his current form? He was sure his wings would get in the way, and all he would achieve was making a cacophony of unpleasant sounding chaos that certainly wouldn't impress Sachin or Bertille. When Cotton moved on to speaking about their mother, a faint friend came to the gat's face that he quickly hid away, a soft mumbling correction leaving him, "Arthritis..." He could sort of tell that Cotton was hiding something away from him, but... he didn't even need to know that to feel a deep sense of worry. Cotton's mother had to be getting up in years at this point, and the arthritis would only make it more difficult for her to move around and live... the thought made a faint noise of worry leave his throat, but he ignored it. Cottontail was doing so well, they didn't need to be more worried about their mother as well. So instead, the male just offered Cotton a sharp smile, mumbling as his tail moved from side to side behind him, "Ah, well... M'sure that Sachin is very happy with you right now, 'n' I'm sure your Mother will feel better soon..." He could only hope that she would last through this winter and longer... Vinny really didn't want to worry about having a funeral so soon after the group's refounding. During his worrisome torrent of thoughts, the hybrid noticed Aslisk join the group nearby, and he did nothing but offer her a firm nod, glad to see that she want going off the rails or insulting Sachin. He didn't want her getting angry and upsetting Cotton, even if it didn't seem like she would do that during prayer. After all, she hadn't said anything unkind when Vox had performed prayers for Bertille back within the Pitt. |
