WATCHING HER DRIFT AWAY ☆ joining - wormwood. - 09-08-2019 The first slight signs of fall were ringing the air as Wormwood trudged steadily onward towards The Typhoon, his clawed feet scraping along the dirty land bridge sometimes and making his nose wrinkle, wishing that he could just pull them in like he could in his lion form. The chaser of Tanglewood had been thinking about this for a while, wondering if perhaps it would be a good idea for him to come here and propose the joining of two affiliations, and eventually he had landed on a positive decision. He greatly respected Goldie and the Typhoon as a whole, and while he loved Tanglewood with all of his heart, and would always consider it his main home, he also figured that he could be of use at the Typhoon. After all, Tanglewood and the Typhoon were closely allied, and both were being heavily targeted by the Pitt. So, Worm had figured he would try this whole dual alliance thing out. He could easily travel back and forth from Tanglewood to The Typhoon by use of the land bridge that connected them, and it would be made even easier if he was ever able to return to his lion form, so he could fly back and forth. Unbeknownst to him, although they had no physical presence in this form, his angelic wings still lingered on his back, somewhat shrouded and unseen by anyone but those that could see creatures of the heavenly variety.
The hellhound breathed a silent sigh of relief when he finally reached his destination, making his way to the bell that he had heard about so many other joiners ringing to announce their presence in secondhand stories from Sam told once by Goldie. Taking a deep breath, he moved to nudge the bell firmly, just enough to have it ring a few times but not burst any eardrums in the process of getting people's attention. When the sounds of movement began to emerge from in front of him, Wormwood hesitated before clearing his throat and barking, not wanting to waste time with unneeded formalities like name and business when he knew clearly what he wanted, "Ah, hello there, anybody who's out there. My name is Wormwood, and I'm a chaser from Tanglewood. I came here wondering if perhaps I could have a dual alliance with both Tanglewood and The Typhoon." He makes it all as clear and clean cut as he can, wondering if this would be a temporary change or a permanent one. He would probably need to see how he adjusted to being in both groups, and see how he felt after the threat of the Pitt was dealt with – once it was dealt with, since he refused to believe there was an if involved there. Of course, that would only end up being a decision if Goldie allowed him to do this, since ultimately it was her decision. He didn't see a reason why she wouldn't want someone from an allying group being around to help out, but he wouldn't protest if she had a problem with it. Something that wasn’t sentient. Something that he could actually grab and sling about in his beak, and then help himself to it. No. No, he had to cut down the angered shrills before they could even begin. He had dived and landed a few paces away from the hellhound, beak clicking together rapidly. “Youre blue,” the pterosaur noted, his eyes of a similar color narrowing. This one wasn’t covered in that strange grass substance- it seemed to mainly be down their spine. His long tail gave a slow flick behind him. “I don’t even know what you’re talking about. I suppose that ought to mean I can just stare at you.” His voice was loud, a scream, a squawk, a voice made to be heard of the breeziest day and in the deepest storm. He didn’t bother to question what a ‘chaser’ or a ‘tanglewood’ was. More of this strange, strange world of people with grass on their bodies and a different way of life. “You know,” Tanteri continued, his voice if anything beginning to rise in pitch, “just to make sure nothing bad happens to you while you wait for someone more qualified to answer your...question..thing..” He ended in a cluck, shifting his weight back after a brief lapse. TAGS 8/15/19: Re: WATCHING HER DRIFT AWAY ☆ joining - idyllfields - 09-09-2019 idyllfields stars did fall at first the scent of tanglewood brought the assumption that selby was on another visit, but the healer was not to be found at their gates. instead it was wormwood, an unfamiliar, but not unwelcomed, visitor. "tanteri!" they giggled, nudging him. "staring is not polite. instead, you may make light conversation to pass the time. you may find you both have something in common." they politely instructed, not sounding parental or condescending, but simply informative. their attention then turned to the swamp-dweller. "seeing as we haven't had any previous political issues before our emergency alliance, i see no issue for you to stay here." the coyote smiled, dipping their head. "my name is idyllfields. i am a healer here in the typhoon, but also a very good guide if you ever need one! do you have any questions?" Re: WATCHING HER DRIFT AWAY ☆ joining - VANDAL R. - 09-09-2019 "Tanglewood, huh?" From somewhere beyond the wall, a low voice alights with nostalgia. It takes one second for heavy footsteps to shudder the earth, another for a large, black figure to reappear at the top of the structure, its leathery wings spread wide to keep its balance. The fiend's talons hook into the wall's surface, scraping slightly as she leans her weight forward to extend a pointed muzzle at the Tangler, looking at her from head to toe with feigned but criticism. She nods, satisfied, before leaning back to a balanced posture, careful not to tip over on the other side.
"Well then, Tangler, i's nice to meetcha! Th'name's Vandal Roux, resident aunt and troublemaker extraordinaire." Vandal has only been back for a few weeks, and already her old accent has begun to return, hooking words and colliding them on her tongue, until entire sentences can spiral past her teeth with chopped fluidity and sharp-toothed grace. The Rouxes have always had a way with words. "Heard you's were doin' pretty good for yourselves? 'Least tha's what I heard, feel free t' correct me if I somehow got even tha' wrong." To think about it, Vandal isn't quite sure she's ever even been to Tanglewood before. She'd heard rumors—heard they lived in a semi-radioactive swamp and ate crocodiles for breakfast, but neither pieces of information, whether factual or not, would have dissuaded her curiosity. If anything, if there were any truth to those rumors, she'd likely be even more excited to sneak a peak... but now here stands a Tangler in front of her, and Vandal thinks maybe she should take this opportunity to shed some light on her thoughts. "Hey. S'it true that you've crocodiles in your place? Can Tanglers eat them, or are they some celebra'ed thing tha' shouldn' be killed?" Re: WATCHING HER DRIFT AWAY ☆ joining - wormwood. - 09-09-2019 Three people responded to his ringing of the bell, and Wormwood blinked in surprise at the first creature to come charging down to meet him. Not only did he resemble old dinosaurs he had only ever read about in books, bit he was so talking about how Worm was blue, and how he was just going to stare for a little while. Worm was initially a bit wigged put by this, his batlike ears pulling back into his mane of darker purple fur, but thankfully he was quickly rescued by the arrival of Idyllfields, who playfully scolded Tanteri with their approach. He couldn't help but make of a relieved noise, having felt awkward, and offered a little smile when both of them faced him, his tail wagging along the ground behind him, "Ah... yeah, I'm blue. It's kind of a part of being in the form I'm currently in... uh, but yeah like I said, my name is Wormwood. It's nice to meet you, Idyllfields, and... Tanteri, I think it was?" He questioned softly, glancing over at Tanteri and thinking back to what Idyllfields had called him just a moment ago.
The third one to arrive, Vandal, was speaking in an accent that Worm found vaguely familiar, thanks to his conversations in the past with Goldie, but it still took a little bit of translating for him to fully grasp what she was saying. When he did figure it out, a soft and weak chuckle left him, both at the implication that Tanglewood was doing well for themselves, and the question over them having crocodiles. Sure, they had a decent amounts of members now, but with those members came a whole lot of suffering for all of them, so he wasn't quite sure how well off they were really doing. Offering the "troublemaker extraordinaire" a nervous little smile – it had been a long time since he last had to do this whole joining thing – he barked cheerfully, "I suppose we are doing pretty well for ourselves, with all of our members and everything, but I'm not sure how much better off we are then you guys. We've still gotta deal with those asshole Pittians same as everybody else. As for the crocs... yeah, we've got them. They're practically everywhere in the territory of the swamp. We dont have any problem with people killing and eating them for the most part, as long as they're not sentient. But most of them aren't, so..." He shrugged his shoulders, a small smile coming to his face before he said with a chuckle, "Oh, that was a bit rude of me, huh? It's also very nice to meet you, Vandal. You're a Roux, right? That mean you're related to Goldie?" [glow=black,2,300]YOUR CHANNEL IS UNREACHABLE[/glow] Re: WATCHING HER DRIFT AWAY ☆ joining - VANDAL R. - 09-09-2019 Vandal likes him enough, she thinks. He entertains her curious questions and responds without malice, without annoyance—genuine, they call it, genuine and friendly. She has always appreciated having a warm soul around on the island, even when her own disposition isn't always so. Yes, she assures herself, they might get along. She's spent far too much time mourning those she has lost that, perhaps, it's time she spends more time appreciating those that she hasn't, and maybe make some new connections along the way. It's a risk, but it's a risk worth taking. None of her family would surely want her to live any other way.
"Yes," she responds with an enthusiastic nod of her head. "'M Goldie's aunt, actually! I've known'er since she was younger. She's somethin' else, isn' she?" If anybody asks her what the best thing about coming back is, it's certainly getting to see Goldie grow older. Goldie has always had a special place in the fiend's heart, dark and bitter and shriveled up as it might be, and to see her fighting, to see her breathing, to see her smiling—something sharp stabs at her chest, and her gaze momentarily flickers skyward. She wonders if Pincher is out there. She wonders if Pincher can see them now. "Sometimes I wish I can wrap around her, y'know? Keep all th'bad things away, like those Pitt-ifuls?" She smiles wickedly at the thinly-veiled but twice as cheesy insult, waving a gleaming tail towards the Tangler, now part Crewmate. "But she's never wanted to be trea'ed as anything lesser; she's strong, tha' one. You and her are friends, I'm assuming? I'm sure you can see tha' too." She smiles at him, then, softer than her features have ever allowed her to be. It takes a second for her grin to turn wicked again, as it often is, but there's a sheen of warmth there too, a puff of pride, a sprinkling of acknowledgement. "Well now, today isn't Goldie Appreciation Day, as much as I want everyday t'be. Why don't'cha come on in, make yourself at home, yeah?" Re: WATCHING HER DRIFT AWAY ☆ joining - fulzanin - 09-09-2019 [div style="width: 60%; height: auto; font-family: verdana; font-size: 8pt; text-align: justify; line-height: 13px; border-bottom: 5px #DADE11 solid; padding-bottom: 5px; color: black;"]Tanteri gave a sharp cluck when he was nudged. His tail flicked to help balance himself. He rested essentially on his wings and feet, and his balance on the ground was far worse than his balance in the sky. "He never said I couldn't stare, did he?" He replied in a cheeky manner. Although he supposed Idyll had a point- he wouldn't like someone staring at him without a care in the world. Deeper thought, though; he would certainly like the attention, albeit if it were obtained by creepy means. "Do you want me to name how many times I'm told to 'shut up' in those kinds of polite conversation that you mentioned? Even I can probably count that many!" The pterosaur screeched. His wings flapped, lifting his weight backwards so that he could make a broad gesture with a wing. His weight heavily came back down upon the ground, shaking his head. Tanteri couldn't say that he truly knew who the Pitt was. Was it one person? Several? A group? It was hard to wrap his prehistoric head around, and his beak clicked at the thought. Now wasn't the time for such a trivial conversation- he was sure that he would have his time to ask later. "What the- what even is an appreciation day," he elected to question as his voice lowered to a mutter. His version of a mutter, therefore around the same level that regular speech was conversed on. "At least I've heard of crocodiles before. They're ugly, but the only normal thing that, apparently, lives around here." Swiftly his tone raised back to it's usual shriek, and a tilt of his head accompanied it. His head was always moving, twitching, turning, tilting. "Have you ever met one of the sentient ones, then?" The pteranodon asked. His wings gave a flap as he backed away, knowing that it likely had to be such a long, dreary walk for those without wings. He didn't know the other possessed the other appendages, and another form as well. He pitied those that had to walk everywhere, a nonsensical squawk following his movement away. Those with an otherworldly heritage do not go undetected. Much like the gentle pull of the tide, Dovedeparture found herself marching towards the bridge. Her path was set long before the bell could toll and much longer than it took for the scent of Tanglewood to reach her on the wind. She moved with purpose, but it was almost as if she were on some sort of autopilot; her mind wandered to distant places, trying to explain her feelings, while her body trudged onward.
Finally, she broke out into the open, silent. Observant. She took note of Tanteri and Idyllfields' banter as well as the way Vandal had perched herself like a gargoyle, but their words were not allowed her reach her ears. The voices melted into unintelligible noise, rising and falling, but she couldn't make them out. She was too focused on the new figure. The hell hound. A quizzical look painted her features as she took him in. In all her days, she had never seen something like him. Yes, she had seen a hell hound before (who hadn't in her line of work?), but there was something else. Something... divine. She could see his wings. Angelic wings. More than that, there was a familiarity in his soul that made her heart skip two or three beats. Her lips moved to form a name, but her speech failed her. A scowl darkened her features. Why couldn't she remember? She knew him... She had known him from the before... "Hello," she finally breathed, after grasping at her remaining composure. The lynx now resembled her normal self: poised, bright, smiling. "My name is Dovedeparture. But Dove works all the same." She opened her mouth to ask to speak with Wormwood privately, but she quickly refrained. He was hiding in the body of a hell hound, so perhaps he was doing reconnaissance work of some sort. So, she gave a knowing smile. "I look forward to getting to know you, Wormwood. Should you need anything, I am always available." Using her abilities, she would try to telepathically add, 'There is much to discuss, starting with the form you're taking! What an interesting twist. I admire that, actually... It's been so long since I've spoken with someone like us.' She paused, her smiling brightening just a hair. 'I'm sorry I can't remember much, but it's - it's so nice to see you again!' tags & [b]plot Re: WATCHING HER DRIFT AWAY ☆ joining - Keona. - 09-09-2019 blackbird singing in the dead of night, take these broken wings and learn to fly
A duel allegiance? Well. The petite privateer blinked as she padded over, carefully weaving her way around her crewmates. Quite a few of them here. Thankfully, she was tiny, which certainly helped. Her pale, sea-green hues danced about, locking onto the sound of Wormwood's voice. "I doubt it'd be a problem, 'specially since my cousin shares her time in-between too."She offered the Tangler a small, polite smile as she lifted her own, somewhat soft voice. "'m Keona, a privateer 'ere, if you need anythin'." Re: WATCHING HER DRIFT AWAY ☆ joining - wormwood. - 09-10-2019 So many people, and so many questions being thrown at him at once, so much so it was almost overwhelming. He knew that The Typhion was about on par with the number of members as Tanglewood, if not having more, but he honestly hadn't expected so many people to show up to his joining. Still, the presence of more and more others actually served to kind of energize him, his extroverted nature feeding off of the attention of everyone around him. At first his gaze was dragged back to focus on Vandal, a small smile coming to his face when she confirmed his suspicions of her being part of Goldie's family. An aunt, huh? He honestly couldn't imagine what it would be like being Goldie's aunt, and it made him wonder what Goldenluxury had been like when she had been just a child, since Vandal had supposedly been there. He wouldn't ask now, but it was something that he silently filed away to ask later, chuckling and saying as he nodded his fluffy head, "Ah, yeah, she's a friend of mine. I know her through her relations with Tanglewood, and cause my friend Sam talks about her pretty often. Trust me, I know just how tough she can be. Honestly it's hard to imagine that she was ever just a little cub." He chuckled a bit, thinking about how the same could probably be said for himself. After all, he bad once been very small and weak, but now most back in Tanglewood knew him as brave and determined, always ready to fight for his family, "Heading in does sound great to me, once I've given everybody a hello. Wouldn't want to be rude."
Staying true to his word, his attention was then pulled away by Tanteri, the male speaking very quickly and jumping urgently from topic to topic, with such scattered thoughts that ot reminded him of various members of Tanglewood. The first couple of things weren't directed at him, but when he was asked about meeting any sentient crocs, he chuckled and shook his head, saying softly, "Ah, not exactly? I've heard some stuff about a sentient croc in the group, Reedy, but I've never met him personally. I think he had mostly left by the time that I joined up. My brother supposedly knew another sentient crocodile as well, but I never met him so I can't confirm or deny that..." His eyes clouded over a bit as he thought about Poetking, but he quickly shook it off, smiling softly to cover up the pain that gripped his heart viciously for a short moment. He still had lots of questions of his own stocked up in his mind, all directed at the brother that had abandoned him, but he had more important things to worry about right now, such as Dovedeparture's arrival. Despite the fact that Dove was so gloriously sure of herself, attracted to his ethereal aura and showing up because of the fact that his angelic presence was so strong, Worm had absolutely no idea what she was thinking when she arrived, staring at him with strong interest. He himself was unaware of his existence as an angel, his memories having been wiped when he had first arrived as Poetking's guardian angel, but there was a strange sense of familiarity when she approached, and her name was on the tip of his tongue before she even introduced herself, after breaking free from her shock. He wasn't sure why she had seemed so utterly familiar, like some long lost family member he had somehow forgotten about, but he shook the feeling off, figuring it was just some odd sense of deja vu. He smiled toothily back at her when she introduced herself, seeming quite friendly, and he barked in response to her, giving a dip of his head, "It's very nice to meet you, miss Dove. It's very kind of you to offer me help." He figured that afterwards he would just move along to the next person that had arrived to greet him, but suddenly his head was filled with thoughts of her voice, and he realized with a start that she was talking to him telepathically. Not only this, but her words confused him greatly, talking about how she couldn't remember much, and admired the form that he had taken for now. He made a soft confused sound from the back of his throat, his face screaming up slightly as he mumbled out loud, "I... I don't-" However, he was cut off by the arrival of yet another person showing up, and for some reason this provided him with a sense of relief. Dove's strange words were making his head spin, and he gave the other angel another odd look before focusing his attention on Keona, apparently a privateer of the place. He wasn't entirely sure what a privateer did around here, but he could only imagine that it was somewhat similar to his position as a chaser back in Tanglewood. Clearing his throat, Worm closed his eyes for a brief moment to refocus before saying with a little strained smile, "Nice to meet you, Keona. Like I said, I'm Wormwood. But any of you can feel free to call me Worm." [glow=black,2,300]YOUR CHANNEL IS UNREACHABLE[/glow] |
