COLD BLOODED / joining - COSMIIX - 09-06-2019

Life often wasn't fair or well, it hadn't been very fair to him growing up. He had grown up within the shadows for he had been a shameful thing to his mother's royal bloodline, she had given him life yet she hadn't wanted anything to do with him at the start nor at the end. He had come from an odd tribe that didn't have much offspring due to the fact that, well, all those dwelling there were mainly females and there was males there to provide but said males were the lowest there. Ranking wise anyways, the thought made his insides churn feeling rather angry at the memory. The Matriarch, his mother, had been born of his grandmother and so forth; a line of healthy females. There were no male leaders in his tribe, perhaps when leading a hunting party there was but a male holding any form of power was impossible. His tribe consisted of hybrid hyenas, he could never figure out what other part they were but his tribemates were rather large for any regular hyenas, and said hyenas had their own natural rankings that could have been changed though the tribe were full of traditionalists. Even the males didn't seem to complain much despite how disheartening it had been in his last few days there to see them be treated the way they were.

His mother had gotten into a form of alliance litter with a neighbouring tribe and thus he was born out of it. The Matriarch hadn't been pleased rather she felt as though the Gods had forsaken her in giving her a male cub, she hid him from the world saying that he had been a stillborn, he wasn't aware of this at all. He rarely ever got to see his mother but when he did he could always see the disappointment in her eyes, it made his insides run cold. The only time she had been kind to him was when she was expecting once more and this time it must have been damned due to the fact that the next cub had been a stillborn. She was growing mad, spiraling down further and further... She had eaten that cub without a second thought. She had grabbed at his ear rather roughly after she had cloaked herself to make sure her identity was hidden, she then walked about her own tribe finding her heir. Just a lower classed cub being mothered by a widow, the Matriarch didn't even inquire about the she-cub but simply took her for herself and left him behind with the widow. The widow had been hesitant towards him but only in a few moments did she scoop him up into her arms showing him the maternal instinct that his own mother had never given him.

She raised him and he had managed to move on from the past but only for a brief amount of time, he would see the she-cub walking behind the Matriach, he felt a sting in his heart. Envy. Anger. Hatred. It wasn't for the she-cub but rather it was directed towards the Matriarch though he didn't dwell on it for long even if his ill feelings were growing with each time he had seen them, he grew eventually into a rather large, young male and he stuck out like a sore thumb. His former mother casting him cautious yet cold glances, he tried not paying them any heed even if his anger only seemed to grow like a burning fire within his heart. He didn't realize that this hatred of his would cause him to lash out at those he truly loved, the widow, the mother he had never had well, he snapped at her with a seething rage. She was trying to calm him, soothe the beast that lurked within her child and she had failed. He left her crying and he could feel the pain that strummed the strings of his heart, he knew he had done something wrong yet he strode forward instead of enveloping his true mother in an embrace... He hadn't realized those would be his last moments with her.

He had struck out. He had attacked the most highest and most respected member of his tribe, the Matriarch, he only had a small regret but even then he didn't seemed all that moved by his actions. Eerikki could have ended her life there yet all he did was break her dignity and the jewelry she wore that showed that she was the Matriarch. She was nothing to him and remain as such to the day he died, he eventually stole some of the bits and pieces of gold from her. She stared at him with a sudden shock and fear only to lunge at him with teeth bared towards his throat, she was too weak to kill him, she passed out from the scare and from exhaustion. When morning came, he knew he wasn't safe, it would be idiotic for his former mother to let him dwell within the tribe without punishment. Even if the possible punishment could result in his death. The Matriarch announced the betrayal of the widow's son, Eerikki, stating that he had almost killed her and would have done so if she hadn't held him off long enough. Her loyal guards soon surrounded the large hyena mutt, they all lunged at the same time, he could feel their claws and teeth sinking into his flesh. It all hurt, the pain blinded him, he managed to run off bleeding heavily from his wounds. He had to get out of there.

He had managed to save his own hide only for him to pass out from blood loss, he was far from his birthland. He could never return there, he had no more belonging there even if he missed the widow that had raised him "I'm s-sorry..." He would whisper in a hoarse voice underneath his breath, he closed his eyes believing he would die there or an infection would occur on the wounds that were inflicted upon his form. He drifted off...

---

He had stirred in his slumber, he rose to his paws slowly feeling his whole body ache, he was almost certain he had slept in some odd position that caused his body to hurt more than usual. His whole body shook as he took his first steps forward seeing a water source, he would drink greedily feeling the water dripping from his chin rather messily it only took him a moment to realize he had shifted forms, he was still rather large but he was no longer a hyena but rather a wild cat of some sort. He had never seen one before though he didn't dwell on it for long noticing all the jewelry he had stolen were where he had once had been laying. He collected them into his large paws, he could hear a soft hissing sound from behind him, he turned his head expecting to see his tail but found two snakes staring at him with curiosity. He was startled for the moment, he assumed he was being delusional as of right now so he simply adorned himself with the jewelry that was once the Matriarch's slipping a few golden rings onto the snakes. It would take some time to get used to all of this with time, he slowly got used to this over the time that had passed.

He traveled far feeling several terrain textures beneath his pawpads and hooves, seeing many sights that were always limited to him as a child, and meeting several creatures of all kinds. Eventually, he could feel sand underneath his paws and going in between his toes it was something he hadn't felt for a long while it wasn't unwelcomed. He stopped smelling the border that was marked, his nostrils twitched a bit. He wondered who could possibly live here, he was far from home so all his concerns had been put aside, he would sit down feeling his snake companions moving about flickering their forked tongues in and out taking in the newer scents. He wasn't in his birth form anymore, he had taken a different form and well, he preferred it over the other since he was sure the other form had lots of scarring. Scars that would only remind him of a past that he wanted to leave behind for good.

[font=trebuchet ms]Sometimes all you could do was run.

Darksouls had fled his home, though not for the same reasons as Eerikki. He, too, had been considered disposable, but in his case the threat rising against his home was enough to drive his father to measures he might never have taken otherwise. The sacrifice wouldn't have worked, Dark knew full well, but they were desperate enough to ignore reason. If another solution had presented itself, he had to hope they would have chosen that instead.

He had been distanced from the cataclysm by several years, but he still found himself hoping on occasion that the disaster had been averted somehow, if only for the sake of his siblings.

Having spotted the jewelry-adorned stranger on the railroad tracks, and the snakes at their sides, Darksouls said softly, "Inkquill, stay close." Upon hearing Inkquill quack in response from atop his head, Darksouls proceeded over to the newcomer. They were some form of wildcat, but he was not well-versed in the different species of feline. Either way, they would probably fit right in here.

"Hello," he said, looking down at the stranger. "What brings you here?"

His fur prickled slightly at the sound of a voice, he would lock his gaze onto Darksouls with his pointed ears swiveling forward. There was still plenty of animals he was foreign to or had no idea existed although, he thought it would be rude for him to ask what Darksouls was at the time especially since the reindeer had asked why he was there. Throughout his travels, he had learnt so little about the groups that were scattered about, it made him happy to know that he had gotten far away from his birthland to the point where he didn't hear of tribes but rather a variety of groups with different cultures and people. There wasn't anything like it back home and he was relieved by it, he opened his jaws revealing sharp teeth and the tusks that stuck out like a sore thumb "I am Eerikki Azarnoosh and I would like to join whichever group this is. I've heard of clans throughout my journey, I have traveled far in search of a place to call home, for the last one didn't provide much of a home." He wouldn't say much more seeing as he didn't want to let out his sob story of banishment, he deserved it, of course, he had decided to strike out at the Matiarch when he could have continued his life as the lowest of the males. The black sheep of his tribe. After his exile, all the males had avoided him as if he had been carrying the plague, it had ruined whatever self-esteem he had left.

A plague, that's what he had became within his own birthlands, and he had come to accept it knowing full well of the fate that would await him if he ever decided to return for even the slightest glimpse of what used to be home.

Re: COLD BLOODED / joining - idyllfields - 09-09-2019

idyllfields
stars did fall
the feeling of being tossed aside by their mother set heavy on idyll's shoulders for a long, long while. the childhood they lived may not have been as brutal as the godly male, not nearly considering they were raised by a (while not always catering) nanny. some days the knowledge that their mother didn't want them felt lighter, and some days like a thousand tons. they were fortunate that the typhoon had been so accommodating in their darkest times.

unbeknownst to him, the worst was still yet to come.

"how dreadful to hear, i apologize for the sour experience." idyllfields piped up, looking up to eerikki with a polite smile. ignoring the... lively tails he possessed. "you are welcomed to the typhoon as long as you wish. we're a pirate crew, but we take care of our own first." they promised, lips curling into a small smile.

Dove, like so many others, was no stranger to exile or banishment. She had been cast from the heavens, her former home. The fall hurt is more ways than one, and the scars that littered her soul were worse than any external wound (save maybe her clipped wings). Still, she knew she ought to count herself lucky: unlike most, she could win her position back. She just had to be better.

Better. The word stung, but she brushed it off as she moved forward. The cold chill that swept through her being and the burning of her wings was something, however, she could never shake.

The guardian came to a stop between Darksouls and Idyllfields, offering the newcomer a smile. "Welcome," she greeted, "My name is Dovedeparture, but Dove works just as well. It's lovely to meet you."
