WELCOME TO BIBLE STUDY [joining / crash landing] - elliot. - 08-22-2019 they fell like a shooting star. at first it was nothing more than a glint in the sky, a blue glimmering in the distance that quickly grew into something so much more. those on ground level would see their shape form rapidly in the sky, morphing from a simple blue comet to something startlingly feline in appearance. of course, that was ignoring the two pairs of wings that trailed limply and uselessly behind them, battered and torn at by the force of the wind. such additions were commonplace in this world though, so perhaps the more alarming element to this situation was the speed at which they were moving, or maybe the cold hard earth that seemed to be their destination. there was nothing much that could be done though, so helpless eyes would be forced to watch on as the living projectile hit the ground hard, limp body bouncing from the impact and slamming into another target -- or two. a flash of white and blue light burst from their body, startlingly cold despite the way they seemed to tear through the upper atmosphere. they were barely conscious, and yet two thin blue threads coiled from their glowing form and mercilessly entwined themselves with the souls of those they had crashed into. their fist charges, and they were chosen by mere coincidence. maybe that's the best way for these sorts of things to happen, but the disoriented angel would have appreciated it if they were more awake for the binding. miraculously, they seemed fairly uninjured aside from the strange black liquid that dripped from their lips to pool on the ground below. their eyes were hazy, clouded, and their alarmingly cold body shivered in a futile attempt to generate heat. the sun illuminating their silky silver fur didn't seem to help in the slightest. they muttered something under their breath, staring deep into nothingness. they seemed to be pretty far gone for the time being, completely unaware of the chaos they had just caused. how inconvenient. YOU RAISED A LION, MAMA, I AIN'T LYING, MAMA — 。+゚.[/glow]
It wasnt often that you just saw somebody plummeting at lightspeed from the sky. Worm had just been relaxing out on his porch when the glint of light in the sky had caught his eye, and for a moment he had thought that there was a shooting star or a comet or something streaking across the sky. However, he was wrong, and he was startled when he noticed the object turning towards camp, burning with power as it plummeted onward towards the buildings all around. The lion had gotten quickly to his feet, opening his muzzle and getting ready to yell, to alert everyone to the danger that they were all currently in from the UFO rapidly heading towards them, but he wasn't even able to get the words out before the winged creature had already slammed into two of his clanmates who happened to be talking. Eyes widening, he scrambled up to his paws and dashed off of his porch, his paws barely having time to hit the ground before they were off again, and he felt like he was gaining air with every long lunge thanks to his wings being slightly spread. Coming to a halt just a bit away from the three, he watched the strange encounter with wide eyes for a moment before he finally opened his muzzle and spoke up, his ears pinning to his head in a great deal of worry, [glow=#165042,1,400]"Beck? Red?! Are the two of you alright? And... and are you alright too, new person who fell from the sky...?"[/glow] He wanted to be angry at the mysterious being who had decided to just come down and go crashing straight into the people that he had come to care about a great deal, but really it seemed like Velvet was just as caught off guard by everything as Red and Beck were. He reached out to gently touch the newcomer's shoulder in worry, but the lion immediately yanked it back to himself when he was struck with just how incredibly cold Vel was. He was used to Beck being cold, given his whole ghostly condition, but this new person didn't seem like a ghost. Then again, neither did Beck really when he wasn't floating around trying to be all strange and scary. Still, this new person reminded him a lot more of an angel, sort of similar to himself. Worm resembled more a Phoenix than an angel, thanks to the golden and red colors that his wings happened to be, but his mask was meant to be modeled after the old legends of what Angels were supposedly like, and his wings did have a certain angelic quality, that Vel's seemed to possess as well. Eying Red and Beck nervously as well, the lion croaked out in a rather anxious tone, not sure what the protocol was for when a newcomer just came barreling out of the sky and crashed into other people. There had been some pretty strange joinings before – if this was even a joining – but it really did seem like this one took the entire cake in terms of strangeness, [glow=#165042,1,400]"Do you guys want me to go and get Selby? Or Moth? Or Kiira...? You seem like you could have some damn broken bones after a fall and a crash like that..."[/glow] He had to wonder if Vel had just been up flying around in the sky when she ended up falling because of something crashing into her, or if she really was some sort of odd fallen angel. It felt a bit hard to believe to him, but honestly he had seen far stranger things since he had first joined Tanglewood, such as the combo of mutations that Red was, a live utahraptor, and a tiger that was somewhat always on fire. An angel actually probably wouldnt be that farfetched, especially considering the spirit that also happened to inhabit Delilah's body seemed like it was a demon. If there were demons, there had to be angels too, right? The mutated feline had flown over, and was tucking her wings by her sides as she surveyed the black liquid that was dripping forth from the newcomer from the heavens. It was a strange concept- even though she had wings, she had never stopped to investigate what was above the clouds. She deemed it reserved for the cardboard boxes, her gods, the almighty. "I can go fetch Selby. I seem to be pretty good at doing that," Feza mused. She was joking about the past, where she had often been the one to rush off and fetch the medic. Of course she was. Feza couldn't be serious. It was simply an attribute that her personality couldn't convey. It was just as abstract as someone falling from the sky. Her blue eyes looked at the tattered wings, and she winced. "Because those right there, those, yea, they need to be looked at." Her tone quieted a little, and she winced. She wouldn't want her wings torn and ripped by the wind like that. It couldn't be pleasant. It had to be painful. The snow leopard wasn't all that shocked by the colors, the coldness that was present. She was a feline meant to live in the coldest environment that instead lived in a swamp. If anything, being close to such felt absolutely delightful. Yet the snow leopard could divide her own wants from her hyperactive activities. She could barely do such a thing. It was the sight of a pain that she herself would hate to be in that made her act the slightest bit normal, the slightest bit calm, the slightest bit concerned. Her tail nervously flicked behind her, the movement accompanied by the twitches of her wings. She wouldn't want to be in a position such as that of the fallen star. "Is that black liquid, uh, normal for stars..? Do you know?" Feza inquired, her gaze leaving the sight of the torn wings to glance at Wormwood for only a moment. //kinda rushed oops Re: WELCOME TO BIBLE STUDY [joining / crash landing] - RED - 08-24-2019 [align=center][div style="text-align:justify;width:55%;font-family:verdana;"]"- So that's why I believe the mothman was categorized as an enemy of the state. Kind of wanted to meet him though, I guess you could say I'm a long time fan." Red dissects his Twinkie like a science experiment, pulling it apart and delicately consuming its sickly-sweet innards before he moved on to another. This was a typical afternoon, now, watching the world spin and discussing things that had no meaning, no purpose in this detached world that was the Beyond. For now, the two of them were out of commission. Selby had fitted him with an improvised cast for his bad foot and bandaged the rest of his wounds, leaving him to move around town in a halfhearted hobble when he felt so inclined as to leave the confines of his home. Today, Beck asked him to visit. He wasn’t feeling all that up for it, but whenever he said no to Beck, the kid would make a horrible face and only break his sudden silent treatment to spit names in his general direction. (Names which were, in hindsight, fairly accurate to his current state.) It wasn’t quite dusk, the sun low in the sky and the summer heat still lingering over the marshwater, but that meant most were turning in for the night and few would stop to fuss over them for leaving their homes. Beck had a box of sweets he’d smuggled from god-knows-where, Red had an unlit cigarette tucked behind his ear for the walk home, and all was well. ”Hey, look at that,” he points out idly, mouth half-full as he nods toward the sky. ”Shooting star. Or - comet? Meteor?” It was a glorious display, a thin trail of bright light dancing through the cloud cover as the object burst forth from the skies. The shape wasn’t discernable just yet, but from the looks of it the falling object seemed to be barreling towards Earth at a breakneck pace. In fact, it was heading in their direction. Red frowns up at the sky, at the figure tumbling from the clouds, and squints as he sits up a little to get a better view. ”Hey, Beck, that looks kind of like a - uh -” It looked like a person, but Beck would probably call him crazy if he said so. He could make out wings, and between bright flashes of light that obscured their immediate features he could make out legs and a tail. Some distant idea in the back of his head said that they ought to move, but before he could so much as stumble to his feet the light grew blinding, the figure impossible to dodge at its velocity, and the two of them were left to take what was to come. Something hits him square in the nose and the world goes dark. ”Ugh, jeez... Beck?” He’s cold, cold like he’s never felt before in the sticky swamp heat. The throbbing in his head feels like he’s being stabbed - again. The sky’s gotten darker - he must have been knocked out for a few minutes. Red squeezes his eyes shut for a moment and rubs a hand down his face, hunching in on himself against the sudden chill that has enveloped the small group. At the sound of worried voices, he pushes himself up to get a look around. There’s a broken body laying between them, and though he ought to be shocked he thinks that these things are becoming all the more common lately. Creatures crawling out of the depths of the sea, manifesting as lost spirits, and now crashing down from the heavens - yeah, this was a normal evening, these days. An icy touch to his wrist makes him look down; a thin thread, like silk, twists itself around his hand and then shimmers, faintly, as it fades into his skin. ”...Great,” he rumbles under his breath. The hauntings, curses and divine interventions were starting to blur together, these days. He'd try and take this one in stride. ”M’fine,” Red groans as Wormwood and Feza approach, but he winces at the sight of dark blood dripping from Velvet’s crumpled form. They... Didn’t look so great. ”Worry about that one.” |
