YOU'RE A BOTTLED STAR | dual joiners - dovedeparture - 08-12-2019

[align=center][div style=" background-color: transparent; border: 0px solid black; width: 70%; min-height: 9px; font-family:; line-height: 110%; text-align: justify; padding: 20px"] Dovedeparture cast a sideways glance at her companion, a perfect smile painted upon her soft features. "Tell me, north star, where are we headed again? The Cyclone?" The name felt funny as it fell from her lips, and she didn't doubt the name was incorrect. Whatever Celestialrobbery answered, the lynx would laugh off with ease and claim she was testing her friend's memory. She figured it wouldn't much matter whether she got the name right or wrong until after the pair joined. For now, as they scuttled across the ancient railroad, she could afford a faux pas.

Despite the carefree demeanor, a sense of foreboding rested inside of her. The last time she had been a part of something greater than herself, she had been looked down upon and ultimately cast out. She had been deemed unworthy; her wings, clipped. They had threatened to remove them, pristine feather by pristine feather, but ever the smooth talker, Dove had worked out a deal: let her keep her wings and she would prove herself deserving of them.

And that was when she had met Celestialrobbery. Celeste was a fallen star, cast from the heavens, and when she gazed upon the feline, she felt less alone. From that moment onward, Dove decided to stick with Celeste, to watch over her, to guide her.

"I don't think it's much longer now," she noted, motioning to the space between the railroad and the large, looming island. "Pick up the pace, starshine. We've got friends to meet and places to see." A teasing tone had crept into her words as she chided her traveling partner on her slower gait. Without waiting for a response, Dovedeparture hurried for the concrete slab where she would come to a halt.

didn't mother warn you?
Celestialrobbery -- Celeste, if one would -- smirked as she looked over at her winged companion. Of course Dovedeparture would test her at a time like this, but since that Celeste herself burned with the power of a thousand suns, she took up the challenge with no issue at all.

"It's the Typhoon, you winged fiend." Celeste quipped with a toothy grin, lilac eyes raised as she looked up at the lynx. She was a lot more casual than her friend-- for a celestial entity, at least. Holding the energy of the suns was a heavy burden, and admittedly there were times where she'd rather not have this personal challenge weighing on her shoulders, but she couldn't help it. Not only was it in inevitable, but it was her challenge. And she was not one to back down from a challenge.

Celestialrobbery laughed openly as Dovedeparture urged her along, and at the other's request she picked up her pace to match the lynx's.
"I'm on it, angel." She purred out, swishing her tail as she practically strutted along the railroad tracks. She was always a bit of a flashy one-- but that's being a celestial entity meant coming with a little bit of flare. Celeste chose to embrace it, show it off, and use it to her advantage, while others (such as Dovedeparture) were a touch more humble about it. Perhaps it was the other's clipped wings that had clipped her ego as well, but despite being a fallen star, Celeste had no problem rising like the moon, and burning like the sun.

As they made it to the concrete slab, Celestialrobbery closed her eyes, raising her nose to the ear and giving a few hearty sniffs. She grinned once more and glanced over at Dove, nodding happily.
"Seems we've made it, feathers." She chimed happily, waving her tail as if it was a wagging dog's. "Now, I'll take it away."

Sticking her head forward, she glanced about, but upon not spotting anyone in the direct area (which could've been easily pinned on her accidentally overlooking them-- she wasn't doing a deep inspection at the moment) she cleared her throat, pushed her shoulders back, and raised her head up before speaking.

"Helloooo! Is anyone out there?"
now she's gonna mourn you!

[div style="margin: 0 auto; border-width:0; width: 70%; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; line-height: 1.5; font-size: 9pt;"]Elijah Rosario has never once thought about why the name of their little party of animals was known as The Typhoon. Perhaps it was a reflection of their strength as a group, perhaps it was to point out the location in which they thrived in. Then again, it is a fruitless question to ponder upon. He doesn't even care for the answer. Nowadays the boy is simply more accepting of things as they came. He'd rather let things be than waste efforts trying to make sense of everything. In terms of his angelic heritage, the ragdoll knows little about the Heavens. Once upon a time, he had thought it to be a place close to him. Now, however, it felt more far away than anything else. His celestial blood had been tainted with the infernal chains of Hades ever since the moment he was conceived. Elijah was never born to be an angel, but he wasn't formed to be a demon either. Even if his rats appeared as a sea of decay, infesting the land they swept upon, he was more of a mortal than anything else. The Heavens, strangely enough, are no more but a fairy tale to him.

His eyes bat gently to the side, twinkling as they are cast towards the chitter of his rats. An angel and an alien, he muses telepathically, relaying the information he saw from his bond with Thirteen. He was intrigued now, but not particularly interested in attempting to befriend the bread-and-butter duo. It has been a while since Elijah last displayed a burning interest in the supernatural. If he were still a child, he would have probably arrived to harass them by now. Harass the poor strangers about their antics, ask a dozen of energised questions, bombard the two with childlike awe. The ragdoll laughs softly to himself. It'd be better if he left the job of attending to the strangers to another. They'd likely show more enthusiasm than he would. Then again, was there really anything else for him to do? Adhuc ego sum officio tenentur typhoon, he rationalises.

Hesitantly, the creature stands. His oversized wing is dragged lazily behind him, leaving a soft trail in the soil behind him as he walks alongside his small friends. Elijah's gaze avoids the sight of the trees above him, feeling the tension in his wingless shoulder blade - the weight of his body unbalanced as consequent of his missing appendage. His rodents disperse in front and around him, scattering and rejoining before the demiangel reaches the railroad that continues towards the border, icy hues perplexed by the two strangers who stood together. Although he had already seen the pair from Thirteen's eyes, he still took a moment to survey them with great interest. They seemed... close? Then again, Elijah isn't particularly sure what closeness looks like.

"Salve," he greets as he approaches speaking distance, politely flicking an ear in acknowledgement of the two. "I am indeed... -" his eyes flutter above him, carefully choosing how to reply to the mutated fem, "- out there..." Whatever that was supposed to mean. Nevertheless, the young feline continues. "This is The Typhoon's border, how can I help you?" It sounded almost like he was taking their fast-food order or something of similar sorts. Maybe he should take it back, find a way to reword it or clarify what he meant. Or, he suddenly thinks, he could just play along with the accidental impression. He presses a shy smile: "But I do have to tell you that the Kid's meal is currently unavailable. We do, however, have a special 2 for 1 offer of fries."

Starry isn't sure exactly what is drawing him so intently towards the train tracks this time, but all he knows is that his heart seems to be roaring oddly in his ears as he comes up beside Elijah, his eyes widening slightly when he saw the new joiners. His gaze is drawn immediately towards the orange yellow feline who shouted for anybody to come greet them, and his star covered tail lashes from side to side, an odd familiarity in her golden pelt. It's a sharp contrast to his own pelt, that's a slowly descending gradient of blues and purples, with reflecting little lights to represent the stars. She seems as golden as the sun, while he is as dark as the night. For some reason her presence makes him vaguely uncomfortable, and he stays almost hidden to the side of Elijah, his gaze darting over to the winged feline that had traveled in with her.

It takes a moment for him to speak up, the starlight covered male pointedly keeping his eyes on the angel, as his claws dig in and out of the ground. He doesn't know why Celeste makes him fill with such fear, but she does, and he doesn't speak directly to her, or rather to either of them, instead just mumbling softly, "Hello there, both of you... my-my name is Starlightbrigade... you can call me Starry." He realizes, with a start, that Celeste vaguely reminds her of the past he can't remember, and she doesn't bring back any good memories, just a vague feeling of fear and isolation, feeling a burning gripping his whole body... he closes his eyes briefly and shakes his head, shaking away the thoughts and trying to take a deep breathe as he waited for the joiners to respond to Elijah's questioning.

The endless Void, The gazing abyss, The bottomless ocean of horror...It coiled itself around your tender heart
He's not sure why they chose Typhoon for a name himself despite being here since the very start - largely to do with the theming of their group he'd suppose, but he's heard worse names and finds he has no strong opinion about the name, it is what it is.

if their two guests as he sees sidling up behind Elijah and the unfamiliar to him so far, Starry, could be called and made of stars - then Luciferus is their polar opposite, a being of black holes and dark matter woven shadows around a crimson constraint of void red fissuring through - carefully holding a borrowed star at its core, a burden that brings painful memories but one carried with determination.

he does like to ruminate on how much of a contradiction he can be by simply existing, when reality hates half of what makes you you - the currently hellion shaped darkness inclines his head to his fellows (happy to see Elijah again after his impromtu disappearance, he hadn't quite meant to disappear for so long) and watches the two strangers with polite interest while they all wait - he's used to all peoples from the normal to the supernatural and beyond - so he merely waits out the formality of a meeting between bright stars and a roaming black hole.

[align=center][div style=" background-color: transparent; border: 0px solid black; width: 70%; min-height: 9px; font-family:; line-height: 110%; text-align: justify; padding: 20px"] The same smile she had thrown Celeste a moment ago surfaced again as her friend called out in greeting. She admired Celeste's complete willingness to dive head first into any situation, even if it brought mild concern from time to time. Still, she told herself, there was no reason to fear for Celestialrobbery's safety here. They had followed by all the rules of these places... Though not one to take too many chances, Dovedeparture used her enhanced senses to check for anyone nearing the pair.

She sensed Elijah just before he arrived, not aware he had been spying on them with the assistance of his rat. When he appeared in her line of sight, a strange curiosity filled her. She could clearly see the single wing, dragging across the ground. In that, she felt the gross familiarity of being flightless. However, in the tiny horns that adorned his head, she felt nothing but confusion. She wagered he must be equal parts holy and unholy, even if only minutely both. "Latin?" she mused, her smile turning sideways, "makes sense." As he asked them about their business and continued on, she let a laugh slide through her teeth. "I'm Dovedeparture, but you can call me Dove or Dee or whatever. And this," she titled her head toward the mutated feline, "is Celestialrobbery. I call her a lot of things, but she likes Celeste. Anyhow, we're here to join. And I'd be happy to take you up on today's special."

Moments afterward, another appeared. Starlightbrigade. She smiled gently at him, and his contrast from Celeste was not lost on her. She was also starkly aware of the way he seemed to fear her friend - he would barely make eye contact with Dove, much less Celeste. It puzzled her deeply. Then again, she didn't understand most behavioral aspects of these mortals. "Nice to meet you, sweetie." Again, there was tinkling laughter on her end as he attempted to calm himself. "You shouldn't look so nervous. Celeste is all talk and no game."

The next member of the Typhoon to approach was Luciferus. For as bright as Celestialrobbery and Starlightbrigade were, this creature was void-like - dark, yes, but not empty. Curious and curiouser. The trio appeared to be a living solar system. Stars and galaxies and black holes danced before her eyes, and she wondered where she fit in the little universe spread out before her. "And who might you be, tall-stuff?" Dove asked, holding on to her smile.

Celeste grinned happily as someone approached, rather amused that calling out had worked. She took a moment to take in his appearance, a part of her growing protective over Dee when she noticed the horns. However, the one wing had settled any nerves she had about the other. She'd automatically assumed that he was a fallen angel as well, and couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. This didn't seem to be a celestial creature, per say, but definitely something not mortal. It piqued her interest, admittedly.

"Can I get a Strawberry Sunrise, no ice? With one of those cute little umbrellas?" She asked, a smile replacing the previous look of seriousness that had consumed her facial expression. "Feathers over here stole my thunder, but luckily not my fire. You already know this but, I'm Celestialrobbery. Celeste is fine, though."

As Starlightbrigade approach, Celeste, too, noticed the stark contrast between her and the other and with it, the other's fear. She didn't like being feared, so she made a mental note to try and befriend the little star. And then, she thought, why not just start now?
"Starlightbrigade, huh? I dig it." She was about to speak more when Dovedeparture had noted she was all bark and no bite, to which Celeste laughed openly. "Hey now, Dee, I wouldn't go that far. You know full well that I can be a force to reckon with." She smirked, nudging the other. "But you don't have to worry, kid. I'm not gonna mess with you or anything."

Then came the void, and for a moment numbness spread across Celeste's entire body. She felt almost intimidated-- rather, inferior to the mass that stood before her. Not only was she just a small feline, but black holes like him consumed light like her. She knew this, but still rose to the challenge she created.
"Hey big guy." She said, flexing her claws as she spoke. "We should spar sometime. I could totally take you." Despite the very apparent falsities in that statement, Celeste seemed confident in herself and her abilities. Like, somehow, she could take down a powerful entity she just met. A powerful entity who, now that she thought about it, was one of her allies now. "Only if you're interested, though. I don't wanna force you into anything."
now she's gonna mourn you!

[div style="margin: 0 auto; border-width:0; width: 70%; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; line-height: 1.5; font-size: 9pt;"]The two pirates who accompany the boy were no more to him but strangers, unerringly clouded by a veil of unfamiliarity and dissonance. The condition that overwhelmed the demimortal was no surprise when it came to Starlightbrigade. He had never met the creature, never once let his eyes settle upon the twinkling pelt that Starry adorned. Luciferus, however, was a different story. He struggled to see the void creature as his uncle, felt as though there were a millennium of lives that separated them. The ebony male was more alien to him than the mutated foreigner who appeared smug at his arrival. Perhaps it was because somewhere in Elijah's heart it was too painful to recall family, or perhaps it was because Elijah had spent long enough trying to forget he had one. Even then, the ragdoll still flinches from the rising shadow behind him, the overwhelming penumbra that stalks along the railroad to greet the so-called Dovedeparture and Celestialrobbery.

"Mm, it is," he replies to Dove's remark of his Latin greeting, but is now suddenly self-conscious when he tracks the movements of the fem's eyes looking above him. His horns? Though they were still blunt nubs and didn't appear to be growing, Elijah wasn't exactly fond of others noticing his 'wonderful' heritage.

Before Elijah attempts any response to the angel, he switches his attention to the one dubbed 'Celestialrobbery'. She seemed to be the more playful one of the two, or at least brimming with more informalities in contrast to the celestial. He didn't mind it. While he liked to behave with some kind of polite expression, he was often envious of those who were capable of appearing naturally relaxed. "It's nice to meet you two," he finally begins, giving an acknowledging dip of his head as he says their names: "Dovedeparture. Celestialrobbery." While the pair had shared the nicknames they were happy to go by, Elijah would rather maintain a respective distance from the two (though Elijah did think 'Feathers' was a rather intriguing nickname). He didn't like others getting close to him, he didn't like the idea of anyone coming between him and his rats. "I'm Elijah. And if I have your orders correctly: that's one 2 for 1 fries special, a Strawberry Sunrise - no ice, and a side of membership to The Typhoon." He takes a breath, "I may as well just introduce you two to the Jungle Juice since I'll be escorting you to the Tavern anyway. Oh, and welcome to The Typhoon. Let me know when you're finished with exchanging names so I can start taking you there or something."

[align=center][div style=" background-color: transparent; border: 0px solid black; width: 70%; min-height: 9px; font-family:; line-height: 110%; text-align: justify; padding: 20px"] The angelic creature did grin softly at Elijah as he responded to her inquiry about the language. It was another factor that hinted the two were quite similar despite the glaring differences. She couldn't lie - she had been here for mere moments and she was already enthralled by those that resided in the Typhoon. 'Perhaps this could be a home after all,' she thought before stopping herself abruptly. 'Best not to jump the gun.'

Brought back to reality by Celeste's nudge, Dovedeparture returned the gesture. "'A force to reckon with'? Is that right?" She would have liked to add more, but her friend's attention was stolen by Luciferus. Dove watched a strange emotion leak into Celestialrobbery's lilac irises. The guardian's senses alerted to her friend's increased heartbeat, and she was about to move closer to Celeste when the fallen star acted first. A friendly challenge. "A force to reckon with indeed."

Dove centered her gaze again to Elijah, happy to have finally gotten his name. Her ears did perk at the mention of Jungle Juice and a Tavern. As this place continued to unveil its secrets through its members, the more interested she became. "The pleasure's all mine, doll-face. I'll take your so-called Jungle Juice with my order, and I'd love to see this Tavern of yours. I'm ready whenever.""

he recognises Elijah's slight strain to the shoulders an distant they might be (and he blames himself for that, so often he drifts away), he still watches out for his family - but he won't push it, he's simply there if they needed him.

those thoughts in mind, his eyes flick back to the two and a good natured smile crosses his maw and he inclines his head to the challenge from the star bright companion before he answers the first "I could always use a good spar - as for your question, Luciferus Grimm, pleasure to meet you"
